It's hard to pick an absolute favorite track off this album, but it just might be this one for me, too. Prince, YSTB, Royal, and TPID would make up the rest of my top 5, but not necessarily in that order.
About 10 years ago, I had heard about Deftones but never paid much attention to them. When KNY released, I was quite curious because the album title and art cover called my attention. I wanted to discover more music so I just bought it without hesitating. Little did I know this band was going to become one of my favorite. I have so many memories attached to almost every song and album. The groovy drums, raw/heavy riffs combined with Chino's mesmerizing voice just connected to me in a way I had never felt before. There's not a single song that I don't like. I love them all. I hope they stay for as long as possible because the day they retire will be a painful one.
Before 2019, I feel like I only heard Change, Minerva, and Digital Bath. One day, I was thinking about a deceased family member who loved Deftones and a Limp Bizkit song where Fred says "sometimes this world can make you sick to your stomach, so I put on my headphones and listen to the Deftones." so I just decided to put on Adrenaline while working my new job. I wasn't too impressed but powered through until White Pony which was amazing. After Diamond Eyes and Koi though, I fell in love. They're all I've been listening to the last year and I bought every CD, (except B sides) even Palms, Team Sleep, and Crosses.
Now that Ohms is out it's beat Koi No Yokan to a higher average score of music reviewer's reviews on Metacritic than Koi No Yokan (beating it to the top spot). I know we could say 'opinions are subjective' or 'I don't go by what critics say' but let's be honest, I'm not saying that critics scores MATTER matter but we probably all read them occasionally. Maybe I'm rambling now. I just think it's a small point of interest. Ohms is great as I'm sure you're already aware and some of the songs on it are GREAT (Urantia for one) but KNY is KNY. It was so great to hear them reach such a peak after that long making records. And after the, also brilliant, Diamond Eyes. Love the band. Love all of their albums. I especially love Koi No Yokan.

Most of the time, it's hard for me to listen to this song. My ex girlfriends dad died November 15th, 2020 due to heart explosion. He was only 57 years old. I always respected him, even above her because he looked out for her so well. She had developmental problems and he was her rock. He was everything to her and one of the nicest people ever. On the day I found out, I drank a few beers sitting outside of my garage at night sobbing. Then, I got in my car and listened to a few songs while I just took a drive. This song is the only one I remember and I cried the whole time singing it. Every time I listen to it I think of him and no matter if I sing it or not, most every time I end up crying, just like I am now. I can almost never get through the full song. Yeah, I was 15. Turn 41 this year. When my two older kids started getting into music they asked what my favorite band was. I said , the same band since I was a freshman in high school. Can’t stop listening to their music. They get better with every album.
Listened more to the lyrics and they say a lot. I have a friend that says he wants to end his life a lot. I've been able to talk him out of it for a couple of times, but we've split apart lately. It's such a problem because he practically lives on the opposite side of the globe too. I haven't had contact with him since he told me to well... go f*** myself a couple months ago. I'm not the greatest person to be around when you yourself are struggling, so I hoped he'd just be better off like that. I hope he didn't just remove a barrier with the last talk. All I care about is that he lives. And I wish I could save him.

I need to say, glad someone can relate and I'm glad you responded, but it would obviously be much nicer if you didn't have to. I'm sorry to hear this, especially considering it's such a close person to you too. All I know and perhaps I could help with is that I found it (although it is extremely egocentric) quite empowering and calming for me that I did try. Be proud of success, it's honorable to care that much. Or perhaps rather don't beat yourself up over you feeling like you're not doing enough, feeling fake or being a bad friend. That's what dragged me down quite a bit, even though my friend said that what I do means a lot. Secondly, I think what helped him most is therapy. The person has to be willing to go, which might be a problem in some cases, yet professional knowledge can not be substituted. Not the all-in-one solution, but one learns how to understand their behavior and how to control it. I hope you find a way.

Yeah, I was 15. Turn 41 this year. When my two older kids started getting into music they asked what my favorite band was. I said , the same band since I was a freshman in high school. Can’t stop listening to their music. They get better with every album.

Listened more to the lyrics and they say a lot. I have a friend that says he wants to end his life a lot. I've been able to talk him out of it for a couple of times, but we've split apart lately. It's such a problem because he practically lives on the opposite side of the globe too. I haven't had contact with him since he told me to well... go f*** myself a couple months ago. I'm not the greatest person to be around when you yourself are struggling, so I hoped he'd just be better off like that. I hope he didn't just remove a barrier with the last talk. All I care about is that he lives. And I wish I could save him.
Sad to see this... hope your friend is doing well now. In my case this is happening with my gf :( and i felt identified with what you said, am not the greatest person to be around when someone is struggling too, even with my family... sooo the lyrics of this song saved me, "i'm confused though, but I think I can try". Funny cuz i got introduced to Deftones by this song appearing in my recommended when this problem started
@@dounhi I think he's no longer in the crisis zone and seems to be doing better. Perhaps even more mentally stable than I am. I need to say, glad someone can relate and I'm glad you responded, but it would obviously be much nicer if you didn't have to. I'm sorry to hear this, especially considering it's such a close person to you too. All I know and perhaps I could help with is that I found it (although it is extremely egocentric) quite empowering and calming for me that I did try. Be proud of success, it's honorable to care that much. Or perhaps rather don't beat yourself up over you feeling like you're not doing enough, feeling fake or being a bad friend. That's what dragged me down quite a bit, even though my friend said that what I do means a lot. Secondly, I think what helped him most is therapy. The person has to be willing to go, which might be a problem in some cases, yet professional knowledge can not be substituted. Not the all-in-one solution, but one learns how to understand their behavior and how to control it. I hope you find a way.
