I think it is the fact of seeing an animal so pure and innocent that causes empathy in you and it is the same feeling that Deftones music causes in people, the Owl is the representation of all that.

I feel exactly like this Owl, whenever i listen to Deftones.
His powerful and despair ridden screams in the chorus tears through the profoundly withering, jaded and melancholia induced coma I face every waking hour of my fragile and pitiful existence. The type of scream I feel like engaging in, when I seldom walk out in public with all these soulless meat vessels chasing their next dopamine hit by virtual proxy.

I remember walking into the record store the day this album was released and hearing this tracking start up. I was already going there to buy the album anyway, but I stood and listened to the whole song there in the store. 🥰
That’s a nice memory. 😊 I miss having music stores like we had Sam Goody’s I believe it was called. And I could have browsed for hours but of course I was a kid and mom said we gotta go lol.

This song is about chi cheng, their former bassist who got into an accident and was in a coma, he was in the coma for 4 years then passed away. Chi cheng will always be remembered in deftones history.

I believe this song is about Chi in a coma and how he would give any fucking thing to see a smile, a wink, a nod.😢 The thousand days is him waiting years for his beloved friend to wake up. The imagery and feeling of this song shoots me like a bullet in the heart. RIP Chi. What a beautiful tribute. One of my favorite Deftones songs ever.
This song is about how women in stem use up men in stem before discarding them. Women in stem are cruel and heartless creatures.
My 6th grade English teacher used to say love is a burning ring of fire. No different than what I taught the freshman at k state about the birds and the bees. Paul Smith needs a review of middle school sex ed.
Maybe Minnesota does sex ed in the schools and Kansas doesn't and so the equilibrium between males and females in chemistry is different between the two states because of cultural differences?
There's more to say about k state, but because of certain state laws I don't think I'm allowed to comment it on youtube.
Also, let's be real here, i think we can all agree deftones AND chino have never put out anything that sounds terrible or remotely close to bad. Their creativity and power knows no bounds!!

This glorious album was released around the time I was in rehab the first time in a rough part of Baltimore City, Maryland that I felt all alone in. It was my first of several different stints in rehab and I couldn't shake the powerful and sinister urge of using but at any rate this album helped me deal with my constant feeling of shame, sadness and even helped when I felt good and was intoxicated. This album is very moody and atmospheric which is a wonderful thing to have on an album. I still enjoy the hell out of Diamond Eyes and consider it one of their top 3 best albums and one of my favorite hard rock/metal albums for sure. Music is a powerful tool and has helped me along this strange and crazy journey we call life. Much love to all my fellow Deftones fans 👍🤘🏼🤘🏼❤️💛🖤🎸😎💥🔥🔥🔥🚬😇🤙
