  • J.A. Adande joins Colin Cowherd to talk the final episodes of the Michael Jordan documentary, 'The Last Dance', and whether Scottie Pippen was fairly portrayed when chronicling his time with the Chicago Bulls. They also talk about if MJ would stack up against more modern NBA players like Kobe Bryant, and if Kevin Durant who's been branded as sensitive by the media, would be able to play alongside Jordan, who was known to give his teammates a hard time.

Loved the Last Dance. I could understand Pip’s position, but if anyone was watching there was a lot of controversy around Jordan. Obviously, MJ got to have the Last Word, but Scottie not so much. Kinda reminds me of the Steve Jobs bio: Jobs wanted the people interviewed for the book to be honest, so you got a complete picture of Jobs. His greatness and his ugliness. It makes me wonder if the interviewees were under the impression it was just going to be a self-congratulatory movie.

The fact Jordan wanted to put that perfect record on the line is why he’s something most will not understand. Even though we criticize a Mayweather for picking fights he has no chance of losing. When we get a fighters champion we wonder why they are willing to fight even at a disadvantage. Instead of just enjoying the fact those guys are rare. Risk it all going for something no other team has done since Russell. That’s incredible.

He could have made the point about Scottie pouting and not going in in a nicer way that still told the truth. Same with Scottie’s surgery. Michael did him no favors. The doc was definitely self serving to Michael and I think Scottie’s greatness was not represented enough. This Doc was really about Michael Jordan’s Last Dance.

Johnny Bach was his favorite coach. So much so that he brought him to Washington. There was zero mention of Bach, but it mentioned Tex Winter, who MJ was lukewarm to. If you think Jordan was sitting in an edit bay giving the director notes, you should re-think that.

My biggest take away was how he rose from that first team he was on and bringing and demanding everyone who came along up to that level. No way you can fault him for being tough on teammates. Think about building your own business are you gonna let someone not committed make you look bad no way you can fault him. This was his team no doubt about it. He was there to win period.

I'm a 70's baby grew up in the "Jordan" erea and even though this is a documentary from Jordan's own personal prespective for the most part it's 85-90% accurate as far as events and the sentiment/mood concerning the Bulls and Jordan at that time. Eveything I head and saw about Scottie was correct. None this was new information or not how Scottie was perceived during the period in history. I don't get what Scottie is upset about. It's all the truth.

I swear I don't understand the people coming out of the woodwork to defend Krause. As far as I'm concerned, they weren't nearly tough enough on him. And The Last Dance left out a lot of the really vile things Krause did and said. He was a horrible person.

Colin reminds so much of those kids in junior high school. He always backs the bigger star. Whoever it is Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, and so many other hall of famers, he is always on their side. When someone like Jerry Krause, or anyone else goes toe-to- to with the great Michael Jordan, I think colin’s mind is already made up about who is right, and who is wrong.

I was always a huge Scottie fan. Before people criticize, they should put themselves in his shoes. In any profession, if people feel they are performing well in their work and feel they are underpaid or underappreciated, it's tough.

Maybe I am seeing something different or based on my view. To me, this does not make Scotty Pippen look bad and it is surprising how most people elevate the “not great” moments and clearly overshadow all the strength the documentary showed of Scotty Pippen. 1) Jordan says “You cannot mention Michael Jordan without saying Scotty Pippen”, “There would not have been 6 championships without Scotty Pippen”, “…this is why I consider Scotty Pippen the best person I have ever played with.” and more. 2) In the 7th game in Utah, Scotty could barely run/walk due to back pains and still put himself back in the game, if only to be a decoy. A disable Scotty Pippen was better than a fully healthy ANYONE ELSE on the team to be o the floor. I saw his strength and determination to do whatever he could to get the win despite the pain. 3) Outside of the late surgery, Scotty Pippen played to his fullest capability when on the floor despite being grossly disrespected with his salary. He still competed to win even though it was not fair. How many years again? Thank you. 4) Everyone that spoke about Scotty, and there were many, clearly acknowledged he was one of the top players (minimum 5-10) in the league through the years. 5) As Michael, although to a smaller degree, you saw how Scotty came in a strong player and transitioned to a dominate player while at the Bulls…even with the poor pay! And there were more positive highlights…
So there were a few questionable moments. Again, just moments, throughout a 10+ year career. This does not, for me, portray Scotty in a bad light. It only shows that he has human moments as we all do. As many things in this time, we look for the drama when sometimes they are just facts. Scotty Pippen was RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME and no one can question his metal based on this documentary. No one should question any of the team’s mentality based on what they delivered on the court. Only person that was continually portrayed in a negative light was Jerry Krause…and at the end Jerry Reinsdorf.

I am a Jordan fan, but I wish that everyone who says it, would stop saying that Jordan was forced out (i.e., 'Skip Bayless'). He DECIDED that he didn't want to play any longer. He forgot that he was an employee, not the employer. So his statement that he would have signed for one more year is horse puckey. He was in his feelings, which NO ONE forced upon him.

Agree Bulls swept the Spurs in the 98 season with Spurs having basically the same roster. Spurs were not the great team they came to be at that time. Plus shortened season would've benefited the Bulls. Last, people forget but the media and fans were saying the same about the Bulls going against the Sun's and those Jazz teams yet they managed to prove everyone wrong. Everyone acts as if it were a given Bulls were winning every year in thos days. That's not true.

Very true...Scottie doesn’t have to explain himself. He almost beat the Knicks without Jordan, became only the second player in NBA history to lead his team in all five statistical categories and the first to do it on a playoff team. I think people have a problem with Scottie because people thought they’d disintegrate without Jordan and Scottie dominated. Also they were unique in that instead of Batman $ Robin. They were Superman and Batman.
