HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

In my city in Germany we currently have -2.1°C... 28,22°F...
Those figurines are Ratfink characters, drawn by Ed “Big Daddy” Roth back in the 60’s and 70’s. You would remember them driving really rad hot rods with big gear shifts hanging out of the top….classic artworks ….. You are a lucky man 😊👍
The ones you were thinking of were based off of a line Ed did for MPC Model Cars. These were more like the ones that were were in CarTOONS Magazine. MAD Magazine for the hot rod culture.
The "Rat Fink" rat, and others were from some cartoons Ed used to draw. The Rat became his logo and was the most famous of them.
MPC was based in the area i live in. The International Show Car Assn. (ISCA , Bob Laravee head honcho, sign painter, stock car driver, entrepreneur.) was not too far away. Both suburbs of Detroit. I can't remember who built the original smaller scale show cars (there scale was that the rear wheels were 15" x 10 or 12". Everything else was based off off that. I do know when they needed to be repainted, that was done a quarter-mile down the road from me. KusTOM's Unlimited was owned by Tom Holden, who built a Riddler Award winning (a very very sought after award, an ISCA award) car owned that shop.The car Tom built and was most famous for was a full custom '59 (?) Chevy Impala that had a Batmobile look to it. It had full jet air plane canopies instead of split ones.

In later life, Big Daddy moved to Utah, and joined the Mormon church.

the monster toys are from old 1970s - 1980s cards we had here in the USA, they were like the Garbage Patch Kids. also, those 4 large stones with the waves are from the 1997 movie "The 5th Element" with Bruce Willis.
Yes, I definitely know the fifth element blocks. It was the monsters that were confusing me because I knew they were old. I just wasn’t sure where and when👍🏻😁.

But, I've been to Japan with the computer company (DEC Digital Equipment Corp) I worked for in the early 1980s. I love your dogs I am a cat person (aka "Crazy Cat Lady"). I grew up in NYC I and currently have 11 kitties I cannot see people throwing kittens out of cars. I was Fostering for a local cat rescue in the Mt Shasta Area of California for 12 years before moving to Klamath Falls in Southern Oregon 3 1/2 years ago. The newest kitty I've rescued is a "Mini Panther" named Brian, he loves to lay on my shoulders while I am on the Computer. I liked your quenching in butter, but I think it would have been more interesting to had had some popcorn in the tray surrounding the butter. 😀 Wonderful ASMR channel. I fell asleep watching at midnight my time, which is when it comes out in the winter. Summer, is 1. Stupid Daylight Savings Time makes me wait an hour in the summer.

The shade sail would be a awesome idea and asethecly a great place for it and I like the... what I personally call "modern industrial" look of your property. It is a good use of hard and soft industrial products with the financial investment with a long term product. Especially since you put in the sweat equity and built it yourself. The work you put in the life stile you live the focus and commitment to your self and your community online and I'm confident enough to say without knowing your personal life is admirable. I'm hoping to have the strength and commitment that you have to your self, for what I may have for the rest of my years. Ya kno, I really appreciate it, the dog timer, it's really nice for weeks when Im not really wanting to watch them, as much. Can skip however much of their secne as needed, and not have to try and find the end.

Try hitting a wire wheeled bar with your propane torch…the colours it brings out in the copper is spectacular. Ive heard it called “pearlizing” the bar.

Speaking of copper, are there any plans to clean up the bars from the 1k giant motor melt, or are those being saved for future kiln projects? Any plans to clean up/remelt some of the floor stack? All that metal is badly in need of a wirebrushing to bring it to its full glory. 😊

LOVE your videos! The quirkier, the better! You keep adding gadgets to step up your game... ever thought about getting one of those mini milling machines and milling some of those ingots into perfectly shaped billets? You could even save the chips and re-melt them!

Your gifts were pretty great, and my favorite ones were, 1) the abundant 10mm sockets, 2) the "gone fishing" deep 10mm socket that was hiding.
I've pointed out to friends, just how hard it is to keep track of them slippery 10mm's, and I had no idea that it's a real problem around the world.

One way of beating the ball drop game: As soon as your target hole lines up with the top left corner of the cabinet, press the drop button. Go for the 75 ticket and 50 ticket holes as they are easier for the ball to fall thru. However I had several 100 point fall thru without touching sides!

Hey Big D, I am late to the game, but I have been binge watching the last few years, with plans to delve deeper. I prefer Promite and cheese, but definitely not that well toasted. Keep up the entertaining videos and I will be pleased to return every week.
Eurika moment. Oxidation occurs on the copper because of oxygen. If we replace oxygen with a noble gas such as argon in the furnace and a box to pour with argon pumped into it. The bars should indeed come out bright and shiny. Stainless tube into the furnace will be enough. Awesome episode brother
In the furnace? The argon and oxygen would fight each other for the space in the furnace, and reduce the efficiency. Unless I'm missing something here...
@@DDS029 welding uses the same method oxygen feeds the fire argon stops oxygen from entering when lid is open purple gold uses this method

I was just curious if you’ve ever tested heat retention loss with the hole at the top of the forge?
Also, when you make those molds… you could try to stagger lock the wood perimeter, so one sits inside another flush all the way on the outside like a single step. Instead of putting them just face-to-face. The mold itself will be face-to-face but the frame will be interlocked, and there will be no seepage through that crack. Hope that makes sense…
