I will try this version. I like how the rice and meat were cooked separate, seems like it allows for all the flavors to stand out. Looks so flavorful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for this. I just discovered through ancestral testing that I am mostly Cameroonian, Congolese & Nigerian. I am now looking at ways to incorporate my true heritage and ancestry Into our lives as a family! I'm so glad I found your channel! I will definitely make this tomorrow!
Sad to see so many haters in the comments! There's more than one way to make jollof XD I actually prefer this method, its more flavorful and the rice is less likely to overcook. Its YOUR food, cook it the way YOU want! Jollof is delicious no matter where it comes from or what method you prefer, its an amazing African food that we should be proud to share instead of being negative just because she cooked it a way that you aren't familiar with. Good video either way!
I'm from S. Arkansas & I'm loving your channel. I'll be making this Jollof with Olive/Grape Seed or Coconut oil and salting with pink Himalayan Sea Salt. Many of us African-Americans have concerns about high blood pressure & diabetes, but your incorporating the fresh vegetables & spices rock. Thanks for sharing your love for flavorful foods with the world!
Audrey Long Africans throughout the world, wherever we are, are having challenges with high blood pressure; that includes the ones at home. I find we use too much salt universally. The African Caribbeans also over salt terribly. We need to learn to use more herbs and spices and MUCH less salt and eliminate table salt (sodium chloride). Let the flavors of the foods come through. Be kind to your heart and kidneys and blood vessels. 😘

I will be using the same spices and tomatoes and the same veggies. Thanks so much for making this video.

Ohhh thanks so much Mrs precious i just followed your procedure and its amazing the way it turn and it taste wonderful . this is the way i will always prepare my jellof rice .
This really looked like a similar family recipe my great grandma called “slop” . I grew up on this generational recipe but with ground beef to only find out 26yrs later to have maternal ancestry to Cameroon☺️ 🇨🇲🇨🇲
Reminds me of childhood birthday parties in Cassava farms Limbe - Cameroon. Eating jollof rice with all the little slices of beef all over your mouth. I told my Ghanaian friends jollof from Cameroon is Magic.
My aunt Vera from Sierra Leone made Jolof when I was young, when I moved to London it seemed every African square mile made Jolof differently. This looks amazing, many thanks.
im gonna try this. im not from Africa myself, im diasporian in U.S. but i LOOOOOOVE the food of different places and my family loves various dishes as well and im ALWAYS looking for new things to cook and try. you make it look so easy lol. i think ill try it for lunch. keep the good food coming!! now if only i could master fufu.......

Thanks for a great recipe. I've been searching for a while for a fried rice type of recipe that has a fresh taste and rice that is a bit al dente and separates easily. I'm glad I found your channel.

Thank you so much for your recipes I just found out that a majority of my ancestors came from Cameroon and I would like to learn how to cook the food from my ancestry. The Jolloff rice is so delicious.
I love the act of making a paste of your fresh spices - I think I'm going to start doing that immediately with everything I cook. I think I'll cook my vegetables for about 5 minutes though so that they are not raw tasting and maybe use a bit less oil but other than that, this looks really good.
3 cups parboiled rice also known as "Uncle Ben's" 5 large tomatoes - blended into a puree 1 cup tomato sauce (8 oz or 227 g) I used a can this size 1 medium sized onion - chopped 6 large cloves garlic 1 inch ginger root - peeled and chopped 1/2 stalk celery - chopped 1 sprig parsley or cilantro - chopped 1 green onions - chopped 1 sprig basil - chopped 1/2 teaspoon white pepper (optional) 1 cup cooking oil I used corn oil 3 seasoning cubes-Maggi/Knorr (about 4g each) or three teaspoons chicken bouillon 1/2 pound beef cut into 1 inch slices Salt 1 habanero pepper optional 2 medium carrots - chopped about 1 cup 1 handful green beans - chopped about 1 cup 1/2 large green pepper - chopped about 1/2 cup 1 teaspoon curry powder (optional) *recipe from her blog for those in need*
Much better than Nigerian and Ghanaian recipe. I learned it from my Gambian Wolof ex-husband (the origin of the name and recipe). This is much closer to the succulent moist and flavorful dish I learned. We used chicken or fish. Jasmine rice also works well. Uncle Ben’s is parboiled long-grain rice.
