The belly laughs blurting out from the audience during Dane Edna are just fantastic!! As is the Dame of course!! Just incredibly funny and you can tell at times the audience, sometimes not knowing just how to react, can’t hold it in!
Dame Edna can do little wrong, but does anybody else find the image/the illusion at risk when she lets tiny hints that she's actually a heterosexual man who can't resist a beautiful young woman? I think one of the keys to the success of the Dame Edna character is the fact that she's so real, the personality so endearing and so flawlessly developed. You see male actors that come up to her and treat her like their mother's best friend because when Humphries puts on those glasses, he so fully transforms and is so convincing as an older woman. It's a character millions have grown up with. She may be intimidating to some, but most people would likely consider her far from threatening. But when the facade slips and you see Barry Humphries making suggestions to women that Edna wouldn't necessarily, it almost comes across as....well, to be blunt, rather lecherous. It's more befitting to the Sir Les Patterson character.
@Miss Giggles In his 80s now he’s also been married to a gorgeous female equal for decades. I think it’s his second marriage. I haven’t noticed what you have (except at 36:10) but Edna does admit in this monologue that she sleeps with all her guests!
If I didn’t know Dame Edna was truly a heterosexual man, I would say he was a lesbian, lol, he couldn’t take his eyes nor hands off Iris Chacon, lol. She was salivating!

Dame Edna, British? I was always under the impression she is Australian.
100% Australian.
They are referring to the chat show Edna hosts which is British. Joan did mention Australia once when talking to the Dame.
Australia is British the same as Canada and all the Common Wealth members. All led by the Queen.
@@JuanDiaz-qz9xv Like hell.
