Beautiful. This must be the most accessible luxury dress watch. The finishing on the movement is incredible. Timepieces like these are what got me into watches.
Can't believe the price on this. You can find them for just over a grand 2nd hand. It's a bit chunky and I'm not sure about the crown, but the dial design is bang on - I love a moon phase on a dress watch.
The Runabout chronograph version, with the boat, would that be a good present for my dad's 80th birthday? He loves boats and owned many through the years. He even owned/restored/saved the country's oldest wood motor boat. He has very large wrists though, but I'm thinking he could always have it as a showcase or collector's item if he thinks it looks too feminine on his wrist size-wize. My first thought was the 44mm Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer chronograph, but the box it comes in is very plain compared to this one. I would appreciate your opinions.
Great looking watch, congrats man.. I'm really in love with the classic moonphase though.. Wanted to know the reliable source you are buying from, please send me the link!
+Ramy Ragab Look around on Ebay and Chrono24. If the seller offers "buyers protection" or "secure checkout" and have a lot of good feedback, I would not worry. People say that you should not only buy the watch, but the seller as well. Regards GAW
Amazing piece. Btw you should check out some of the offerings by Oris. Especially the Aquis (and especially the limited edition Aquis's). I don't think you can get better value for the money than from Oris.
Redskins Pride WGIL I only see that as a problem if the Aquis is your only one watch. If you have a collection, you probably have other watches where you can change straps. And in any case, the Aquis bracelet is absolutely STUNNING and beats bracelets by watches that cost 4 times as much. Same goes for the Aquis rubber strap which comes with a quick-adjust clasp and smells permanently like vanilla and is super comfortable. And both the bracelet and rubber strap can be used year-round (unlike say, a leather strap which can't be used in summer as the sweat would ruin it). So I see no reason to change the bracelet or rubber strap from an Aquis as they are such high quality to begin with (anything else will be inferior).
Personally I love the Aquis due to its unique design. It kind of reminds me of a Cadillac the way the lugs are curved yet square-ish. I ordered an Oris Aquis Maldives limited edition.
Don't get me wrong, it is an outstanding piece. You get a lot for its price. For me, I must interchange my straps and the Aquis won't allow you to do that.
Fair enough. But I think you will be hard-pressed to find a better bracelet or rubber strap for the Aquis than the ones it comes with. Unless you want to put it on leather or something. But that strikes me as just odd, with the pure diver that is the Aquis lol.
Good question. I think this is still the best 'affordable' moonphase with an in-house movement. Would love to see watches like this, under $2000 from brands such as Longines etc
I have to admit that the trapezoidal shape of the case with the wider part at the top bugs me a bit. On a different note, does anyone know what is going to happen now that Frédérique Constant has finally given up the ghost and was taken over by Citizen?
Not sure what you really mean but the case is round and got the same diameter all around. Do you mean that the lugs are pretty short compared to the case? I am not sure what will happen. Nothing has really been done or said so far. The only weird thing that has happened was that, prices on FC watches dropped last year. People say it's because of a big retailer did a inventory dump. Prices are back up now. Hopefully Citizen won't interfere with FC Regards GAW
Re: case -- No, I mean look at it from the side when it's sitting on your wrist. Looks a bit like a saucier pan with the angled walls. Re: acquisition by Citizen -- Was just curious, wondering about parallels to Bulova.
Oh i see. I don't mind it really. it makes the watch look thinner then what it is. But would prefer a case shape like on the JLC Ultra Thin Moon. Yeah, it's going to be interesting what Citizen does with FC and Bulova in the future. Regards GAW

Hi bro, I just saw you sold Trident Pro 600. I was so sad that someone bought it before I notice that post of you
I have this watch, it has everything you might expect from an affordable luxury watch, however I wish the hands were luminous

Great video
Great video, thanks for posting!
Although, I'm blown away he show the shot of actually opening the box, I wanted a slow reveal man!
That really is a beautiful watch.
I would like to know if the watch is still reliable and working fine after all these years if you still have them in your collection.
very nice watch!!
This movement is not from ETA right? It looks beautiful!
No, it's an in-house movement

Tayyab Pirzada My one complaint about the Aquis is that you cannot change straps. It's pretty much proprietary.

I'm looking for a watch that's most like the JLC moon phase but at much lower price point. Any thoughts on some good options besides this one?
Wondering why wont Longines makes something similar ? They do have moon phases but they are thicc.

May I know your wrist size ?
Quite nice but too expensive. Not really affordable watch
what is the price? i paid $1000.00 for my oris moon phase.
Oris is a seriously epic brand
Does NOT have good amazon ratings. :-(
Great non affordable watch !!
