  • The central work of the Holy Spirit is to bring order to the people and plan of God, and he does this work primarily through the Word that he inspired. This is no different for corporate worship.

This is false, There is no scripture that says order is the number one thing the Holy Spirit does. The Holy Spirit convicts the World of sin, righteousness and judgement. John 16 The Holy Spirit’s main job is not order, having a relationship with Jesus Christ. but taking in what Jesus has gives it to those who believe. He, the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth, and helps us pray. He also gifts us so we can serve the Body of Christ.

@@Sophrosynica I used to think that too until studying the Word showed me God's plan for His people is that we do the "one anothers" commanded throughout the NT. How can you obey Jesus' command to love one another if you are never with one another? The NT knows nothing of isolated believers who second guess God's means of building them up in the faith through the gifting He's given other believers to impart to them. He has many gifts to give us, but we'll receive them only when we obey His means of grace through regular participation in the local Body of Christ.
Additionally, Peter compares Satan to a lion who is on the hunt. Lions, like all predatory animals, hunt by looking for weak individuals and isolating them from the herd. He uses this tactic today in the church by isolating hurt individuals from the rest of the believers so that he can make them vulnerable, even while they think they are better off for not attending church regularly.
I agree there are many "churches" that are unfaithful and even some that are downright heretical. The NT letters of Paul to the Corinthians and of Jesus to the churches in Revelation acknowledge serious problems in those congregations. However, rather than encouraging believers to strike out on their own, they both call for repentance and for true believers in the midst of the body to band together and stand against the sin in their midst. I realize this means leaving certain churches for other churches, but looking at the situation and deciding that church is to avoided altogether is both disobedient and dangerous.
