Kobe Bryant Postgame Interview About Torn Achilles

  • Kobe Bryant's injury
Halfway across the country, Tim Grover witnessed Kobe Bryant's body rebelling on him Friday night. From the knee to the ankle, the longtime trainer for Bryant watched his client crumple to the court only to watch him rise again and again, only to defy the years and months and minutes chasing Bryant to the brink.
Now, Bryant had made a hard cut to push past Harrison Barnes of the Golden State Warriors and suddenly he collapsed to the floor, reaching back to clutch his heel.
"I told myself, 'If he goes out of the game right here, it's the Achilles,' " Grover said by phone late Friday. "But whatever it was, I knew he was going to shoot the free throws first."
Bryant left for the locker room and the diagnosis turned out to be downright devastating: a torn Achilles tendon, the season gone and a career in peril.

Man the tenacity, resilience and aura kobe had was insane. He had reporters doubting if it was possible to just come play in the playoffs as if it was just another sprain ankle and not a career ending injury. The fact that the man gave an interview when he himself was close to breaking down, and to end said interview with a laugh and walking off instead of resting his leg is just amazing. He then went to score 60 pts in his farewell game. Kobe was the definition of “you can hurt me but never brake me”.

It’s still only like 20% the strength it was before but the tendon is 100% healed. Now I just have to strengthen my calf. My goal was to comeback faster than Kobe and KD so I’m back to MMA next month.

Kobe has unlocked a level of basketball wizardry that year that I thought was never even possible. It was some dragon ball z type shit. Even when he got hurt, you were lead to believe that 80% of that would be lethal. Unfortunately, that was it. Kobe saying “ I can’t. I can’t Wallk” hurts your soul.

Kobe was such a goat. He walked to the bench on his own, then he walked back to hit 2 free throws and then he walked back on his own. He tried to put pressure on his heel to see if he can run that way so he can finish the game… Kobe was built different. He is not like other soft players that are getting carried of the court because of a cramp
