Kobe Bryant Postgame Interview About Torn Achilles

- Kobe Bryant's injury
Halfway across the country, Tim Grover witnessed Kobe Bryant's body rebelling on him Friday night. From the knee to the ankle, the longtime trainer for Bryant watched his client crumple to the court only to watch him rise again and again, only to defy the years and months and minutes chasing Bryant to the brink.
Now, Bryant had made a hard cut to push past Harrison Barnes of the Golden State Warriors and suddenly he collapsed to the floor, reaching back to clutch his heel.
"I told myself, 'If he goes out of the game right here, it's the Achilles,' " Grover said by phone late Friday. "But whatever it was, I knew he was going to shoot the free throws first."
Bryant left for the locker room and the diagnosis turned out to be downright devastating: a torn Achilles tendon, the season gone and a career in peril. Спорт
"I tried to put pressure on my heel..see if I can do it that way" 🤦 the cloth this man was cut from is no longer in stock. Thanks you Kobe for all the memories. RIP Kobe 🐐👑 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

@@spicy5766 Better? Nah, I disagree on that, but I DO agree that LeBron being "better" is not the place nor time.
It’s mind blowing that he wasn’t at the hospital, he got up, walked to the free throw line, hit 2 free throws, walked off the court on his own power and then stayed and did media after the game. Dude was unreal.
He was tough as nails. Old school toughness.
Brooo so crazy!! I just had this injury 3 weeks ago and no way I could have done that

@@snakeeyes7907 how you figure I need to wake up? You're saying Kobe knew something bad was going to happen back in 2013. So he knew he would end up in a helicopter crash and die in 2020? C'mon man.
Only time I've ever seen Kobe shed tears. The gut wrenching feeling knowing you may never recover from an injury like that. Heartbreaking
2012/13 season was his most underrated season of his career. He basically carried the team and willed them into the playoffs at his own expense. His career basically ended that night. Lost all his explosiveness
Jack Daniels I don’t watch basketball too much but did this injury actually ruin him after he came back?
He was banged up and shaking off multiple stingers every game after he guaranteed a playoff berth. I knew something catastrophic was about to happen because it was obvious he was pushing himself way too hard. I wanted him to stop because it wasn't worth it (Dwight was lazy, Nash was old and washed), but Kobe was the ultimate warrior. Rest in peace.
@@realniggashit3 blame fucking Mike D Antoni for pushing kobe to extend his minutes man and orchestrating a weird offensive tempo centered at a lazy dwight howard

This is probably my favorite sports interview. The pain, frustration, sadness, but then heart in his words saying he’s gotta set an example for his kids. I think this is as much of an incredible moment as any of his championships. It’s kobe in these moments that made him kobe
This man giving a post game interview with a torn Achilles.. Bar None Rest up GOAT
This just shows how strong of person kobe was. Although he knew his career took a big hit, he still kept his head up high and went through it. Teaches me a life lesson, when shit gets tough it’s important to keep your chin up and persevere, I’ve never played basketball but Kobe showed me a lot of life lessons that I still carry today. It’s important to put one foot in front of the other and keep going. That’s all we can really do during this difficult time.. is keep going..
Amen bro. Amen. Everything that you said is true in my case as to what I've learned from him. Couldn't have said it any better
Well said brother 💯
He was a 5X World champion by the time this injury happened. His mentality was levels above everyone here.
Rip to the legend always will remember his great moments
Oprah sides chair 😭😭😭
Dude walked all the way to the line and made both free throws with a torn Achilles. That's a tough man. The fact he walked is seemingly impossible and then making both free throws is even more impossible. I wasnt the biggest Kobe fan, during his career, but I came to love his tenacity and work ethic. I feel he had a chance to be even better after basketball. Still shocked.
RIP. What a fucking legend. A Hard dude. Not many of them in the NBA right now.
@@gsabella4 Which is precisely what makes Kobe all the more special, otherwise we may take individuals like him for granted if more NBA players were like him, or just people in general, NBA or not.
I remember watching this on NBATV. I must admit.......I was crying.
I'm watching now again and it's very emotional. Maybe more so because Kobe is a killer and he is visibly holding back his tears.
Pussy
Michael Lane I was too
Today is the day that you really should've cried. :'( :'( I miss him.

This is why he is the GOAT. Said it was necessary and gave all he got to this team. This is a dude who just listens to "Till I Collapse" on repeat
@WindTheBrave Kobe is better than leStiffarm
not GOAT to me but arguably the best, didn’t have LeBrons athleticism and longevity, didn’t have Jordans big mitts and vertical, didn’t have Kareems towering height, didn’t have Wilts superhuman physical, didn’t have Shaqs sheer strength, never had any of that fancy stuff but he still scored 81, over 30k points, and arguablyone of the greatest players of all time.
@@housesports000 Kobe has had just as much impact on the sport of basketball as everyone you just listed. I can name a long list of today’s top players who grew of aspiring to be Kobe. Stats, genetics, or any of that shit don’t mean everything.
@@LarryBennettHealthCoach that’s why Kobe was so great, he built himself from the ground up without any special physical attributes or anything, he just worked on his game and kept getting better and stronger
ok im sorry, hes a legend but he isnt even close to the goat
Kobe’s poise was something
The last minute of this interview is just insane. He goes from being down and dejected to suddenly getting motivated. He starts creating this whole theoretical situation of people doubting his ability to come back, and he starts getting pissed at these doubters. And by the end of the interview, it's clear that he'll be back. lol, i love it.
I specifically watched Kobe the most in 2012-2013 season but this season showed what he was truly made of STRAIGHT PASSION AND HE SUFFERED A LOT OF INJURIES THIS YEAR AND JUST SHOWED HIM THAT HE DIDN’T REALLY HAVE MUCH TIME LEFT. HE WAS STARTED BREAKING DOWN SLOWLY the ending was near.Rip the black mamba 🐍💛💜

RIP Kobe. I remembered this video coz it was the first time I saw Kobe cry.
He cried in 2008 finals
He almost cried at the all star game in Philly when they kept booing him. . He even admitted to his feelings being hurt. That ish almost made me cry rs....

😭😭the last year that Kobe was an Elite player
Think this was when Kobe realized it was the beginning of the end. All those hard playoff mins and playing through injury had finally caught up with him. And this when he was 34 playing 45 plus mins! Unreal.
This is the only time I ever saw him cry.
People don't say this enough, but props to him for still taking this interview after the game, keeping composed, and answering the questions. That's a true pro.
If he wanted to say fuck it with a towel over his head after he killed himself the previous 20 games trying to get them to the playoffs, everyone would've understood. But instead he stepped up just like he did with the free throws and addressed the media.
Kobe shooting those 2 free throws have got to be an iconic scene in sports history.
Can see he was fighting back tears. That's how dedicated he was to the game. ❤
Prayers to KD

Man the tenacity, resilience and aura kobe had was insane. He had reporters doubting if it was possible to just come play in the playoffs as if it was just another sprain ankle and not a career ending injury. The fact that the man gave an interview when he himself was close to breaking down, and to end said interview with a laugh and walking off instead of resting his leg is just amazing. He then went to score 60 pts in his farewell game. Kobe was the definition of “you can hurt me but never brake me”.

Kobe has unlocked a level of basketball wizardry that year that I thought was never even possible. It was some dragon ball z type shit. Kobe was such a goat. He walked to the bench on his own, then he walked back to hit 2 free throws and then he walked back on his own.
