- Adam has long been a collector of swords, but he may have to start a spear collection in the cave with the arrival of this beautiful Beskar Spear replica from the propmakers at JJ Industries. It's another piece of Adam's upcoming Mandalorian cosplay, and he examines and assembles this spear in today's show and tell!

Looks like a nice piece. Visited the the manufacturer's website and was actually surprised at the pricing - it is quite reasonable!
Yeah. I wasn't expecting that. Seems to me that's very reasonable for the materials and some work, without doubling it just because they can.

So many of these style products are so overpriced it is hysterical - seems many companies will charge increasingly exorbitant prices just due to the hype or popularity of the subject matter. I come from a manufacturing background so I usually have a handle on what costs would be - and sometimes I just can't help but laugh. There was one video on Tested about laser cut wood models - and the pricing was insane - for what one model was priced at I could literally buy a cheap laser cutter, the materials, and pay for a course in how to use it for less than what they were asking. It is very refreshing to see a company sell a product for a niche customer base that is overly fair for the consumer.

I did some quick searching, and while I couldn't find pricing for the exact grade of aluminium they state, I found a cheaper grade that indicates at least 1/3 to 1/2 of their asking price is the raw aluminium bars alone. As an amateur machinist and lathe owner, I can also appreciate that working material of that length/diameter ratio is not easy.
Adam's excitement and enthusiasm is absolutely awesome. I love how his mind works and that he is so open and honest.
I love how the case looks like one for a pool cue and that the spear fits together like one
Now if only I could find a Beskar pool cue.

I love the pure joy and excitement. I just started binging the Mandalorian a week ago and got to the episode with the Beskar spear last night.

I think the best way to battle a lightsaber brandishing opponent is with distance and a fast firing high velocity lead throwing weapon.

@@2adamast idk I feel like if the person has a lightsaber they're likely a force user and the could very easily throw a thermal detonator back at you vs many extremely fast moving small projectiles.

@@peterkelley6344 idk man I think arrows would be too slow flying and not fast enough firing assuming the one welding the light saber is a force user.

I have JJ Industry's TLJ Phasma pike- it's fantastic! Beautifully machined, great coupling as you noted on yours, just a solid piece of work. Fantastic prop for my costume. Mine only splits in two- three parts would be even better (especially since it's a good six and a half feet' fully assembled).

As soon as I saw that it was a short case and must be in pieces, I was a little sad because I knew it wouldn't ring the way a solid piece would. So I love that you NOTICED the sound and tested to see what sound you could get! Not surprised that it sort of just clanks but I understand why they built it that way.

Hold it at its approximate harmonic nodes (1/2 length, 1/4 length, any other fraction represented in the harmonic series) with as little contact along its length as possible and it is likely to ring.

Here's a question I just came up with. How do you decide when you want to buy something instead of build it yourself? Is it a matter of just seeing something cool online and buying it? Or have you ever had moments where you thought, "That's really cool but I could build one cooler," and then do it?

You can get a rubber spear tip for the Mando spear in order to use thew at conversions

There’s a lovely irony of all the recent Lucasfilm productions being made the UK EXCEPT for The Mandalorian, which is filmed in Southern California. Now Adam in California is getting a Mando prop from the UK.

One of the things my kids learned playing Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Spears are way more useful than a sword. Those gold enemies are stronger and faster. Let's keep them at a respectable distance.
If you look at weapon history, it is also true for real life. Most of the time swords were only used by people highly trained in them while spears were far easier to use and, in many cases, more effective so spears would make up the bulk of an armies melee combat weapons compared to a sword.

Now I'm wondering if you can play pool with a beskar spear.
If the spear tip comes off, I can see where it could be replaced with a cue tip, but don't insert it into the ear canal.
And "If" your opponent beats you, can jab him in the arm with it.

Nice spear! Remember that the Darksaber in the Mandalorian caused the spear to turn a little red. both great weapons! Enjoy.

Against lightsabers I would think cortosis beats out beskar. Though I don’t know if cortosis is even canon anymore.
