No I am against cutting the wings, as long as the birds are in a safe cage area so they can't fly away. I have 9 parakeets. When I bought each of them from the pet store, they're wings were butchered and it was sad to see them suffer. Most of my birds' wings have grown back now, thank goodness.
@@DivineArt-1the thing is that of your birds isn’t trained for free flight and it get out, gets confused and gets lost, its likely they will die in an environment they aren’t built for, death is more cruel then taking that safe measure of clipping their wings in my opinion
Absolutely not. I have purchased birds with clipped wings. It takes about 4 months to regain flight. They actually have potential for more injury than a bird that has always flown. As they cannot get out of danger and landing is a problem for a while until they relearn. Exercise is nonexistent without flight. My clipped birds choose to stay safely in the cage until they can fly with the rest of the 15 budgies. So they become depressed. Not as social. They also can only climb or hop around in the flight cage. Completely cruel. I am totally against clipping wings. As far as taming. It takes the same amount of time. And I think easier with a bird that feels secure because they can fly.
We had our cockatiel fly out the door one day and luckily were able to find her. It was 100 degrees outside and we found her, very dehydrated and scared. With hawks, owls and other aggressive predators in the area, she would not have lived long in the wild. Inside, she has flown into fans and windows, luckily not hurting her too badly. Keeping her wings clipped is important to keep her safe. She was born in captivity and that is all she knows.
I just think when I was young I used to have a repeating dream that I was flying around everywhere it was an awesome dream and if someone took my ability to fly away I'd be pretty pissd off
I bought my cockateil (cloud who is sitting on my knee as i write this) had clipped wings even before i put my deposit down 😢 a week before i took them home. Poor baby tries to fly doesnt go anywhere so runs to me like why breaks my heart ive always been agoints clipped wings
Even am against clipping. But many of us wants to tame our pets isnt it some wants it to be quick. So i guess for a short time clipping is good untill they are tame and den it can regrow anyway not like forever they will nt fly or so isnt? I have learned it myself my budgie though he was nt clipped but was sick so he let me handle him as he was too weak and thats how he trusted.. so clipping to makes dem realize that they have to depend on u. So in tht way its nt bad
Tbh this is ONLY needed if a bird needs to be tamed first and get use to you first. Even Pigeon Breeders do it, myself too mostly for taming the new and inexpert young ones. If a bird is not tamed and doesn't get use to you it will always fly away from you, plus the high risk of the bird to get hurt into literally anything while flying or the risk of going outside and getting lost for probably forever. You can only do it if you know how to do it and if it's needed for taming
How to keep active a newly brought cocktail pair from pet store I gave them all the vimeral and birds care syrup to keep dem healthy I know they are healthy but they are not active
They are not in the wild and in the households they have a high chance of getting hit by everyday objects my friends cockatiel broke his nose while flying in the house.

I think wing clipping is fine because with my birds I just clip them a little so they can still fly because if they fly off outside they will still be in my yard and I can bring them back inside also I have budgies not cockatiels

How to regrow cut feature?
It's ok for only 1 time when you first get them so they know you aren't a threat but keeping them clipped is cruel

I got my cockatiel two days ago and one of her wings is clipped. I have been wondering why she very rarely gets out of her cage.

No,very cruel practice. These beautiful birds are living creatures and not toys to be put aside when they lose their appeal.
