- 2024 Mercedes Benz GLC 300 review by The Straight Pipes. The 2024 Mercedes GLC is putting down 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque from a 2.0L Turbo 4 Cylinder with a 48v mild hybrid. At $74,085 CAD, would you take it over the BMW X3 or Audi Q5?

@@TheStraightPipes I still couldn’t get it, tried all resolutions
The one thing that stood out from my first drive was just how quiet it is on the road. it's significantly quieter than the old one in terms of road noise with standard summer tires
looks like a car that rich parents buy their children for their first car but check literally nothing on options list 💩
Boris? What are you doing here?
Boris Johnson?
No, he's some cool Russian dude that helped me stay alive in College by eating a ton of dr sausage and potato!!! Thank you god Boris.
Yoooo, Kino watching kino
LMAOO
I think I saw Jakob get nervous for a moment there during that pass around the corner , around 2:12. Keep him on his toes Yuri. 😂😂😂
No fear
Still think the original GLC300 from 2017 had the best tailights 😍😍
You can get vented seats in both and the C and GLC. However it usually requires real leather seats and other options.
It's a standalone option most of the time, not included in a package, right?
I understand it's the prices these days but my mind is still blown on $74k for a GLC 😱
lucky everyone who got a car before the inflation
@@sakichugouken2474 I got a CPO E400 Coupe at the beginning of the pandemic. A 2-yr-old lease return E400 Coupe was 50% off MSRP, free extended warranty and protection plans, 0.99% rate, first 2 payment on MB Canada. Too bad, not anymore.
it’s twice or triple that price in my country 😂🤣 U should come here and see how much they are selling Mercedes over here. The cheapest GLA costs around USD 130k 😂🤣
@@artsyhyd Are you in Singapore? 🤣
@@agnesf2659 Indonesia 🇮🇩😁 neighbor 😄
I work selling tires and I ALWAYS recommend Continental because TSP 😂
Your energy and enthusiasm)))
The AMG styling on all these new cars looks phenomenal
TMNT thumbnail for the notification was perfect! I feel like I'm part of a secret club.
The same spec GLC 300 here in EU, Baltics, costs almost 90000 Euros. For less I can get the new Lexus RX500h with technology pack+panoramic roof and winter tyres bundled. The price on mercs here is insane.
Move to USA USA! High incomes, cheap houses and cars
@@OakyCheap houses? 😂 Check price range of houses in some popular EU country’s, you will be surprised
@Oaky your other comments say that the US working-class wages are terrible...
@@Oakylol false af 😂
@@pablos3563 i live on the french riviera, and texas houses (downtown austin, houston or dallas) are probably 5x to 10x cheaper the meter square
I hate when what appears to be a stand alone option or package suddenly requires additional packages for that one thing. Seriously. Why do they do that.
Because they're full of spite and apes will buy it for the ipad
$
Probably to simplify build configurations. And occasionally because a tech feature depends on sensors in a lower package.
@@faeinthebay That does not simplify it. If they wanted to simplify it, then they would just include that feature in that one option package. I could almost buy the excuse regarding the sensors, but they are already there since they all come with collision mitigation.
@@niuhuskieguy a lot of cars have camera-based auto braking but radar-based cruise control. It's because the camera isn't reliable enough on its own for continuous use, just emergencies.
Cool and fairplay for you guys to shoutout Andrea from Motormouth. I watch both channels. I like normal, boring, utility-based cars.
Mercedes loaned me a 2024 glc 300 while my vehicle was in service and it had 282 hp 316 lbs torque.
I got the GLC220d late November, I can now say that it is 10 times better than the W253 GLC in the way id handles, feels and overall build quality!
The car doors closing in sync with the music was SEX! Props to your editor.
I have owned a 2016, 2017, 2018, and currently drive the 2019 MB GLC 300; no complaints with any of them. I am so excited to pick up the 2024 GLC AMG.
So you don’t have a problem with your radio coming on sometimes. This prevents bk up camera from working when radio doesn’t come on in the 2019 GLC 300
Of course no complaints. You did one oil change? Lol
4 cylinder engine lol
I think that GLC 220d will be most popular version in EU.
Damn that grey scenery reminds me of NY. I hate winter
so the speaker is on the door so it will get wet if the window is down and its raining
I'm waiting for the phev to be available here in the US. I would take the coupe phev.
Great review and appreciate the shout out for @MotormouthAndrea!
Here's the question: do you go for this brand new or get a used GLC 43 AMG for a bit less? I don't need the power of the AMG (most of my driving is from inner city to downtown and back) but like it and I'm currently in a 2013 BMW X3 35i I bought new 11 years ago that has 210,000 kms on it.
U guys have the most thorough review! Also I’ve noticed how u’ve pronounced “coupe” differently now 😆 This GLC costs around USD 180k in my country 😂🤣
Which country brother ?
I did not even pay 50k CAD for my GLK back then... this is going nuts.
Great review as always. Grabbed the 2023 GLC 43 AMG since it was a 6 cylinder and had no "E" function. Also, the interior is not as pleasing in this new model, the massive phablet is just off putting. Mercedes needs to stick to its roots for as long as possible.
the previous gen had a much better interior design and not those capacitive touch BS buttons, and real buttons for the HVAC. I have a S205 and anyone I drive in it always comments what a rich looking interior. I also have 2 small capacitive touch squares on the steering wheel and they are so finicky, I'd hate to think what it is like if all the buttons were that
Why'd you buy one if you don't like the interior?
@@PasDeMD They literally said they don’t like the 2024 model’s interior as their 2023 GLC 43 lol
I test drove the new GLC recently. I showed up in my F-Pace SVR, and my dad showed up in his (much cheaper than GLC) GV70. The sales guy who had actually sold me my C63 a few years ago just told us something along the lines of “you’re probably not going to be impressed…it has nowhere near the fit and finish of your dad’s GV and it’s pretty slow”. He was right…we were both dumbfounded with the comparatively poor ride and cheap finishes on the interior with a sticker price of almost $90k which was closer in price to my SVR than dad’s Genesis. Yikes.
Sounds like we need to review the F-Pace SVR again since we loved it so much
@@TheStraightPipes Haha yup!! Last chance with this model year :(. They hiked the price by 15% for the last year too….hope that helps my resale value as I’ve got an M4 Comp on order that ended up being 20k more than the online configurator indicated 😅
GV70 makes everything else in the class look cheap.
@@CapnT87was it dealer markup or just manufacturer price change?
Mercedes has been getting worse for years. My family has a 2019 gls550 and while the engine is great, it has more creaks and rattles than my Mazda 3…
Not sure if it's a Canadian issue, but I can say the station in my idrive 8 and it recognizes it and plays. And I can say play channel 9, and she'll say playing 90s on 9
I test drove this. They gave up way too much leg room for the center console. Are germans shrinking or do they just want to upsell you?
Will you choose this or the Grecale?
hahaha hey we get snow in Arizona lol.. First Nations here and we have all 4 season on our Rez in the White Mountains
I was about to comment the same! We get all the seasons.
If you thought that Mercedes commercial was cool, you need to check out the old BMW "The Hire" mini-movies with Clive Owen. They came out back when you guys were probably still in elementary school ;)
Finally……….Yuri gets a haircut!😂
Ninja Turtle title font, sweeeeeet! Cowabunga!
One of the first reviews stated that the heated steering wheel had no dedicated button anymore in the 2024, that you had to use the voice controls to turn it on....any chance of getting an update on that because on the surface it sounds insane.
Audi has it with the other buttons, BMW has it at the bottom, and Porsche has it on the back at the bottom. Why Mercedes is making it complicated, I don't know.
If you have Heated steering it turns on with heated seats you get an icon on dash
Could you guys review bmw 540i you haven’t done a review yet?
Shout out to Andrea and Zack at Motormouth. My other two favorite north of the border auto reviewers👌💯🙏
No Throttle House? The Straight Pipes mortal enemies.
@@ivanlowjones I don’t think throttle house memorizes every stat like Andrea does?
@@TheStraightPipes She's up there with Alex on Autos for sure💯🙏
This is really an excellent car by mercedes.
what is the intro music called?
In Japan, drivers can watch tv from the middle touch screen. Thats pretty crazy.
How do we communicate to car makers that we do not want fake sounds of any kind.
you cannot... the Germans, Japanese, Koreans and the English are very insecure cultures.... they try to compensate all the Time.. the only brand that does not produce fake sounds is Alfa Romeo... get yourself a STELVIO.. way better vehicle....
They don’t care. They do what works for sales
14:08 Well if you buy an Audi Q4 the base wheels are steelies, so... Not unheard of in the premium segment
Fun fact: Base model corollas have had standard adative cruise control since 2017...
They need it because who the f**k wants to actually buy one of those LMAO?! 😂
Did you feel any weirdness about the brakes? Feel like the new GLC brakes slip at the end
Budget luxury suv? Mercedes GLC or Audi q5 komfort?
the sound system only has 9 speakers. after hearing it in a c300 its great, if you're upgrading from a 2002 civic
The base system is 5 speakers the burmester is 15. You might be referring to the “advanced” system only available in Europe.
@@517sf6 15 speakers and it’s still bad. Man I was in a maybach and the system was like a 5/10 tbh. They should go back to harman/kardon
Never been this early before!
I own a BMW 230i and Mercedes GLC and me and the wife agree that BMW ID8 is better than the Mercedes MBUX2. Also as far as the Mercedes hybrid system you don’t really notice the additional power but what is highly noticeable is how the hybrid system smooths out the shift points and keeps pushing the car in between shifts. I own a GLE before getting the GLC and it is remarkable how much better the GLC drivers over the GLE wonky soft suspension. The GLC is far more composed and it is more noticeable around corners and under acceleration. The GLC is on the downside in terms of space, it feels noticeably smaller than the GLE and is likely even a tad bit smaller than the GLB! I do like the GLC but I wish the boot was a bit larger, at least a few more inches.
The main selling point for me is the drive, the powertrain is great. I bet the GLE will benefit from adopting a similar hybrid powertrain. The hybrid system is damn well integrated and is implemented in a way that improves the driving experience first and saves fuel second.
The Mercedes GLC has a beautiful interior design, as always!
I thought the new waterfall design dashboard was claustrophobic. I just didn’t feel at home behind the wheel.
Hope to see a review of a INEOS soon
I just got a 2024 glc and I have cooled seats
2:30: What is going on with Yuri "keeping busy"?
Buying a GLC is like buying a pair of Jordan Flights. It’s not a numbered Jordan but it still says Jordan.
hot but accurate take
Can you all do one for the Hyundai Santa Fe ?
Video needs to be of the GLC Coupe 😇😇
That plastic center console that continues to the dashboard looks like when i sit at them Macdonald’s plastic tables……
It doesn't look all new but it kinda does - classic Other Guy from Jakob and the Other Guy.
You can absolutely get ventilated seats on an X3
Wayamin i couldve sworn the thumbnail was in the TMNT font
Yurkedez Benz! Yes please ROTFL
I would rather go with X3 or Acura RDX instead of this piece
I’m looking forward to y’all doing a review of the new Mercedes coupe the CLE. 👍
The engines are so loud . But a beautiful car
Here in Indonesia the price is $100k for GLC300 😅
I have just bought a new Q8 for almost the same price as similarly equiped GLC.. nobrainer
Stop the cap
If Continental makes a 165/60 R12 all season tire I’ll buy a set.
What kind of scooter needs tires that small?
@@BoopSnoot 1990 Rover Mini
Nice but a bit small, prefer the GLE
GLC 300 or GV 70?
So you two might’ve answered this in previous video but what can you put on these huge screens these days for their isn’t fingers prints
Insurance company gave me a 2020 or a 2021 GLC300 while my car getting repaired for about 3 weeks. At least on 3-4 occasions, when I applied brakes, the pedal felt dead and I kept on pushing harder but car almost no braking. Could have hit something if I hadn't been careful. Don't know if it is same with other Glc300s.
That is not normal and sounds like an issue with the vehicle you had.
Why not do the creak test? Audi and BMW interiors are still about 5-10 years ahead of Merc in quality.
RIP MB styling?
We had ordered a 2024 GLC to replace our 2020 and after seeing and driving it we decided to decline accepting the new one. The new dashboards waterfall design seemed plastic cheap to me and also made the drivers seat seem claustrophobic. Also the trim of the interior, like the door cards, seemed down scale from our 2020. Last but not least… we frequently need to load gear at night and MB downgraded the cargo lighting. A MB ought to have decent cargo lights for goodness sake. After waiting for months for it to arrive we passed.
Love your reviews. What's with Mercedes and large round air vents more prominent than anything on the dash? I hard shopped all the Germans and bought a Genesis GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige, next week will be two years, love it. Much prefer a separate climate control area, with some physical controls. To spec match Mercedes against Genesis, pick the closest model/horsepower, then literally add EVERY option/feature and watch the price skyrocket, is the prestige badge worth thousands, and with a lesser warranty. The GLC 300 is nice, hate the large air vents, but pricing against competition, especially Genesis, is too high.
Too bad MB Canada does not offer the wagon anymore, better dynamics than the SUV and more practical than the sedan, also it looks better than both (I have the 2019 and offers me the best of both worlds, + it is more unique than a boring sedan or SUV) Wagons are everywhere in Europe but people don't want them here unless it is E63 or RS6
Yurcedez Benz is clever
So glad my x3 has peak iDrive 7
This or the x3?
I’m sorry, but that crooked screen would drive me insane. It gives me anxiety just seeing it in this video.
the secret word is "bounce"
Bro please make a video on mercedes c43 amg2024
We did
Finger prints seems very bad 😢 ceramic coating might help to keep clean
drove one of these nice ride, didn't like the touch screen. It wasn't really a relaxing drive because touchscreen was confusing. It had the burmester audio and it sucked had no bass and it was either to loud or to quiet their was no in between, I think it was because it had no bass unlike the gles. The engine sounded terrible and the transmission was not as smooth as a 2018 e300. Mercedes could do much better.
i thought the GLC/C class and higher would have a rear wheel bias?? I guess that leaves BMW still for handling
Wait, the C-Class is not rear wheel bias anymore????
It is idk what this guy is on about
It doesn’t feel like it, in comparison to their AMG43 and above type products since those are more heavily rear biased (around 60%). This is no where near that since it’s an entry level model
They are
At 6:26 can’t find it help me out
Look harder
wait is this a 2023 or 2024 GLC???
i wonder if the quality has improved. Our 2019 was in the shop 11 times for warranty work. some for the same issues twice., windows rolling down on their own. LOL and the blank infotainment screen syndrome. service dept was the worst experience. Appts booked 2 weeks ahead not being met. Got rid of it mainly due to the service dept. Bought a Lexus. OH my God. What a huge difference in service treatment….
you can never trust the Germans with service or anything else
some parts of AZ get snow, there are mountains there and they definitely have winter.
I know I know that’s the joke
Barely
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles🐢🥷🏽
For me Merc is gone. Poorer quality, poorer finishes, throw-away tech, they get more cheaply made every year but hey, look at the pretty lights. You can get way better luxury for less money and not be turned upside-down for features that come standard on a Honda CRV for crying out loud.
Lovely car when I become a dad I will buy a Mercedes glc to
Make no mistake: this beautiful interior benefits from the very nice "enhanced ambient lighting" option. Mercedes is known for delivering cars without it. I bought a "GLC 300e AMG-LINE" which should have been equipped with this option. Well the car was delivered without it and basically they said: "Bad luck Mr. customer: there's nothing we can do about it. It's due to a shortage of semi-conductors".
If you don't believe me, ask your dealer: They have an internal memo explaining this problem. Of course: NO REFUNDS and NO “RETRO-FITTING”. I got a lawyer envolved and the offerd 1400 EUR to spend in their dealership. I refused so we will go to court. Sad but true story.
A BMW X3 or Lexus RX500h seems better for the price
My guess for the secret word was right without using the hints 😂
Good job
I'm at looking at the clue and see NOTHING!
X3 > (M40i >>>>)
Sorry guys.. but I'm gonna have to take the base GV70 or the X3 over both this and the Maserati Grecale Modena
How many sponsors can you fit in one review
Enough to not have our houses repossessed
Pls clean the central touch screen before your do the shoot!
Naw. If it’s a fingerprinty screen we’re gonna show how dirty it gets. We’re not marketing
Nice SUV the only issue in the US is the unavailable Continental Eco Contact 6Q tires. Two flats one repairable. Dealer removed one from a new SUV. Mercedes Corp still terrible in reference to.a resolution on these tires. Ordered a AWD but they put on Summer tires that are not sold in the US. Will be filing a law suit within the year. Mercedes customer service is still horrible in my opinion. My next SUV will be a Lexus!!!!!
