    Pretty good simplification of the current state of RTK. I've been using RTK for almost 30 years, have built and operated an RTK network, train people on how to use it and help develop standards for its use with a major state DOT.
    Your distance error statement was not correct in my opinion, at least for this level of discussion. In my opinion, you should simply have described the distant dependent error. Saying it is good or not at a range depends on the precision/accuracy needed, and that varies. RTK is entirely appropriate at 50im, for certain applications (single or multi-band) Single band RTK isn't just limited to 10km, It has more to do with the integer ambiguity (described) and often having to fix over a known point. Multiband RTK has near instantaneous 'fix' and can better correct for ionospheric error, which does impact the distance dependent error, but not by much for RTK.
    This is a good quick description overall, and one that I would use if I were to put it in context.

    Hi, what is the accuracy difference using only one Emlid SR2+ as a rover with RTK via NTRIP (with wifi cellphone) vs one SR2+ as a rover and another one as a base like in the video ?

    With RTK do you need a rover? Or would a Drone with an RTK module count as the rover in this case?

    • @Emlid
      @Emlid  Год назад

      Hi there! RTK drone can act as a rover.
      For example, you can learn how to work with Reach RS2 base and DJI Phantom 4 RTK rover in our docs: docs.emlid.com/reachrs2/tutorials/integration/p4p-rtk/#perform-flight.

    Can you like have an rtk drone to aid the rover and base when its hard to find signal because of say vegetation?

    • @Emlid
      @Emlid  9 месяцев назад

      Hi! It is possible, but if there is dense vegetation, it may be difficult to obtain an accurate drone map too. Photogrammetric software needs contrasting points in photos to tie them together. Trees don't work as points of contrast.

      @@Emlid i hope that "weakness" or downside of rtk could be addressed. Gotta go for total station where there is vegetation blocking the signal

      Base position is known by conventional surveying, or gps averaging. And your rover accuracy relative to the base is good, but the absolute accuracy is only as good as your base position accuracy.

    All the license "professional" surveyors that I hired and personally witnessed stake out a worksite using just the carry around one... I would always double checking their work measuring physicals tools it has always been off by a whole six inches to a foot no matter who I hired. Now watching this video and knowing that none of them use proper equipment to give us accurate information I am fuming at how much money was wasted paying those lazy cheap frauds. Should/can I sue them?

      Is either the site has canopy or the instrument they brought is fault, next time tell them to do test of instrument before site operation

      Lol no they are using a remote base through the internet, they don't need to set up their own base station. It's called VRS and it's not going to be 6" off. In my experience 99% of the time some guy with a tape measure is saying that the surveyors are off, he is the one that is wrong.

    • @gunningopher
      @gunningopher 4 месяца назад

      I can assure that neither I or anyone that works for me would have done that, if it is true. Take your concerns to the registered professional who you should have contracted for the work. If you are not satisfied, take you claim to the state board of registration. If you just hired some hack that isn't licensed (as they are legally required to be in most states) then you get what you pay for.
      If you are in California, you have a lot of options. If you are in one of those "I hate regulation" states, then you might be screwed.

    • @doormanfoc
      @doormanfoc 4 месяца назад

      @@gunningopher Sadly all these surveyors were licensed, I am in Florida so it seems this is one area that needs better regulated. I think part of the problem is with some of these surveyors the actually licensed person is not actually doing any the work and is sending barely trained field workers out to do the bare minimum to cut cost.

    • @gunningopher
      @gunningopher 4 месяца назад

      @@doormanfoc take a complaint to the board of registration. It is common practice for the licensed practitioner to be in the office, but that in no way absolves him of responsible charge for the work that they contract.
