      It had a real classic top gear flavour to it. They made a whole bunch of films like this between like 2008 and 2013-ish, and it was those films that got me into cars. When I was 19 I literally bought my second car, a Lancia Fulvia, based on my vivid memory of their original Lancia film, shot probably around 2010-2011. This is the kind of stuff that makes these guys worth watching.

    • @theant9821
      @theant9821 6 лет назад +2

      EnFraBa7 you're point being, lancia has won more championships than any other, and hasn't competed with a factory works team since 91 or had any private team with manufacturer input since 92.
      Rohrl helped win one of those championships, juha kankunen (the best ever) and miki biason did more than that.
      Rohrl was good but he wasn't as good as kankunen, as juha didn't go at ridiculous speeds, he was able to find the limit and stay safely below it to finish the season in a very good position. And his ability to do that in so many cars that were so different and with so many teams and manufacturers in different countries when there were much more significant differences to what th modern differences between cars are. Mcrae was superman in a British prepared subaru or ford but in the superior french Citroen he struggled. As did burns coming from successful drives in british prepared Mitsubishi and subaru.
      Lancia were the top dogs from the 60s until fiat sacrificed them. They had to homologate rally cars so often built good rally cars then tried to make a road car from it. (Ducati style).

    For those who haven't seen this short of the Audi Vs Lancia battle, it is one of the greatest shorts in motoring show history. Sell your children if you have to to see it. Clarkson is at his peak in a serious history lecture, something he excells at if you have never seen him present seriously outside of motoring, and the story is almost fantastic, parts are impossible to believe how Lancia did what they did to stay competitive with a 2 wheel drive machine against the might and money of Audi and 4 wheel drive.

      F S everyone says the 037 was dangerous but I believe the Delta S4 was even more so. That thing was literally a thin shell with a monstrous engine strapped to it sending power to all wheels with no other means of grip lol
