  • Northern Irish song performed by British Breton-Lite dance Band for Norwegian polka, danced by English dancers in Cornwall- why not?.
This long-standing "Not Strictly Breton" dance session in Falnouth resumed in February 2023 after 3 years' Covid shutdown. The Front, formerly The Waterside, is a great cellar- style bar with outside seating facing Falmouth Harbour, craft ales and ciders, and you can bring in takeaways.
Thanks go to the present "squad"/sometime lineup: Lynette,Dave,Sue, Ralph and Sylvia variously on accordion, melodeon and concertina, Dave W and Denise on bodhran ( vocals/ shanties also by Dave W ), Max, Ann ,Chris and Sylvia again on fiddle,Mike , guitar,John,Banjo, Mike H on Ophicleide ( a keyed "modern" brass serpent- look it up), Chrissie and Ann again on recorder, self and Sylvia again on tin whistle.
This is also to remember past players and dance leaders over some 15 or more years: David Bacon, Alyson and Robin Wadling, Jeremy Burdett, Liz Grant, Adrian the accordion, Carol Allen, Barbara and Derek Toyne, Peter Holden, Keith Allen,Ann, Helen Spiers,Steve Downey,Arthur the bodhran, Miranda and Hudson, Toms the banjo and concertina respectively , Dan the guitar, plus former Front manager Matt who now runs the Moth and Moon on The Moor, Falmouth, another great drinking and musical watering hole.
