Love the video, I had just bought a few tíns of the Morgans Australian bitter a few days ago with the intention to make a melbourne bitter clone. And then today I stumbled upon your video. One of the best made videos for new brewers. The recipe is very similar to MB, just a different amount of pride of ringwood. cheers!!! Super helpful
Wow!!! A lot going on...where do I begin. First love the UFO with the new addition of the Alien which I can see someone might say it is distracting but I like it a lot. (I use to run a BBS and one of my login screens had a UFO landing back in the day before the Internet.) Also thank you for the shout out. As you know I have the weekly top 10 and as I watched your video I came up with 5 more and 2 will be credited to you on my next top 10. Also see you are trying to start a work out RUclips channel which I always joke to my wife when I shake my carboys or carry kegs around or shake them too. As I was typing this I just came up with another tip due to your hop addition but not sure if that will be in the next top 10 as I may hold that one back for now. Great job and looking forward to seeing the final results. People don't complain about 0.1% abv, they complain because they changed the recipe which changes the flavor and that always upsets people but obviously the 0.1% was a by product of a recipe change.
I recently brewed the Morgan's Bitter and enjoyed it. Found it needed a good couple of weeks conditioning but it resulted in a tasty brew. In the UK its not always easy buying VB so I cannot compare it but next time I'll try with the Pride of Ringwood addition if it's available over here.
Hey Pierre, very clear and thorough instructional video. Have you ever dabbled with water chemistry? I want to learn about that next. Will have to check what books are available.
When I get more into all grain I will definitely be working much harder at the chemical consistencies of my water for sure. I am not quite ready for that yet. A little more practice first.
Love your vids Pierre! Dunno how VB is so popular in this country? hopefully your home brew version tastes better! I find most of the CUB beers to be very much 6 of one and half dozen of the other if you know what I mean. Love the pride of Ringwood hops though mate I’m from Ringwood Victoria myself! Apparently they were invented here way back in the day. Keep up the good work ✌🏻
You are so right I wish I could understand the appeal but the old recipe was created before advent of flavour in craft beer. I can't bring myself to like it. I have a tasting video coming this Friday.
Drink the VB from a can only and make sure it's very cold. Stubbies are prone to oxidation and go off faster. Cans are perfectly sealed from the atmosphere.
I've done the Aussie bitter with what I think was mangrove jacks Aussie bitter brew enhancer blend that I didn't read the label that said it had Pride of Ringwood in it and steeped 12g of super pride . It ended up being a proper lager bitter and was ultra refreshing on a hot day . I also used the ladlemans diamond lager yeast . It smelled like shit while fermenting but ended really nice . I didn't realise lager yeast gave off sulfer farty smell so be aware anyone wanting to try a lager yeast.
And if you want an easy cleaner way of steep without adding the actual hops in the fermenter , grab a coffee plunger (French press) from Kmart for around $10 and steep off a "hop tea" in that .
Well done, looking forward to the tasting part 2 video
Thanks Stebbo, The video is set for this Friday Australian Eastern Standard time.

Nice one Pierre.
Many thanks!
Thank you and great video! I’m just starting out in home brew. And dare I say it I love VB and it’s the only beer I drink. Can’t wait to try this!
It is still a very nice beer regardless. 😀

If you have trouble finding Pride Of Ringwood let me know I should be able to send you some.
Well done Pierre!
loved the VB when I was there.
Hope it’s very similar👍
I hope so too!
Good video Pierre! If your looking for a good all grain version of this try the one at Aussie brew makers it’s a good one. Cheers
Thanks for the tip! I will check it out
@@SimpleHomeBrew anytime thanks for the videos

Sounds really good we should try that in future brews.
Did that taste like melbourne bitter? All the MB clones have the same recipe
@@toddcasson3761 not sure mate I'm in western Australia can't get Melbourne bitter here
@@Danziman78 ahhh all good, yeah I’m in WA too. Melbourne bitter is definitely hard to find here
Did you get your bucket fermenter local and if so where did you get it mate.
Great vid as always.
Cheers
I purchased it with a starter kit from Firkin Cellars in my area. they readily available pretty much at any brew store.
Hi Simple Home Brews,
what is a substitute for pride of ringwood hops?
Hi Simplephil, I believe East Kent Golding comes close as it has very similar property's.
I’d really like an all grain recipe of this
I am glad I have been able get you this one. I have an all grain version as well if you like

Nice piece of advice thanks😀
The spaceship and alien are distracting lmao
Yeah trying to break up the monotony.
🤘🍻
🍻🍺😀
Haha i remember those ads
Me too, gave such a heart warming feeling.
You sanitised the yeast packet and scissors then put your nose near the yeast to smell it....
Relax and have a homebrew Dan
So tell me Dan, what could possibly intice you to say that?
