The immediate reaction of jaby after the movie is over is such a real thing. You know it’s so foreign for you yet anytime anything is associated with keeping a secret you totally get emotional after it’s revealed, it’s such a innately human thing.
Being gay is tough in India, very tough. Sometimes I thought of eloping but I couldn't run away from my responsibilities towards my family, especially my father. My father didn't accept my sexuality initially but 2 weeks before he died, he told me to go and live my life with a guy I'm attracted to.
@@mayankrajchauhan4633 Thank you for your kind words. By the way, I'm planning to write a Novel based on my life experiences as a member of LGBTQ community in India hailing from a Muslim conservative family. I would appreciate your best wishes. 🌹
That scene where his hyperventilating and sobbing self was embraced lovingly and comforted by his mother as a way of being accepted for what he was without saying a word to each other is bound to pull the strings of our hearts. I would strongly recommend you guys to react to Maja Ma after this! That movie is also potent enough to make your heart feel warm. ❤ Thanks for reacting to this movie tho!
Being Queer, it makes me so proud that my favorite people reacted to this movie the exact way I had envisioned them. I love you both Jaby and Achara and here's 🍷to a world where nobody cares what gender or sexuality you are. Everyone can love everyone and live a life with no judgement. ❤
@@Kathakathan11 I want same sex marriage to be legalised ATLEAST for now. Whenever this topic comes up people start cautioning others about how legalising it would open a can of worms and how children, civilization, etc would suffer but I suggest take one step at a time. For now, same sex marriage should be legal. Then work on the legal rights of the partners, then adoption and then custody after divorce. Just because you fear the future, you can't put so many people's marital decisions and life on hold.

I'm a queer in india and I'm not going to come out to my parents until I am financially independent. I'm sure my parents would accept me eventually but I think that might take a few years of silent treatment on their behalf. Their first reaction would very much be like the one in this movie.
@@harshbhardwaj9211 Hi Harsh. I am not suggesting you to come out to your family immediately but don’t keep it inside you forever. Don’t let it fester and eat you from inside. Take your time. As someone said financial independence is important. It will take time but you will find acceptance and love. As a straight person I don’t know the struggles of coming out to the family but like any adult I know the pain and trauma of keeping secrets from our loved ones. Trust me it gets better with time once you share. Good luck dude.
this movie showed a somewhat hopeful version of the LGBT stories in India...many a times people have been really ostracised by their families and society...one of my classmates from IIM during MBA actually did come out in college...he was accepted by many of our classmates although some called him names and avoided him bt mostly he was accepted...last time i talked with him, his mother had died during COVID, the only one who supported him in the family and both his siblings and rest of extended family stopped talking to him and he tried to keep a brave face for himself and i did tell him to be patient and you have friends who love and like you...but during the lockdown he got really depressed and sadly committed suicide...it was really sad and it was heartbreaking...i hope he rests in peace

(People just ignore facts and go on with the flow of the mob; its an old problem of humans, especially when they are in groups). The sole purpose of life is proliferation of one's genes... and nature found a way to force us to do that, by devising and introducing many psychological (like love, lust, libido, impulses etc.) and hormonal programs in us, which would lead to proliferation. But sometimes these programs get corrupted in some of our fellow humans and therefore they begin to show all sorts of unnatural behaviors that were never meant to happen. These psychological corruption occurs due to external environment of a human and not internal. Encouraging or even celebrating LGBTQ practices will just exponentially increase this psychological corruption in our fellow humans. You've started me crying again over Sumi's reaction to Shardul telling her he's come out to his family. She knows exactly what he's done for her in that moment, and then there's Shardul crying on his Mom's shoulder like he was a small child again. Gets me in the gut every time; rarely do I not shed tears there; sometimes when Sumi's Dad tells Rimjhim to go and sit, "A mother must be present at the ceremony." and Rimjhim's face lights up I start to cry all over again ~ if I've stopped. That kid is going to have more love than they will be able to handle at times :-) kerk

@@00o0o00 There are also many studies that explain how homosexuality is genetic and innate. For some people, it might be psychological but for real people, it really comes from within. There are also several proven facts, such as gestational complications can result in hormonal changes. Only 1 in 5 people are part of the LGBTQ+ community - which means there are 4 in 5 people, out of several billions. As well as this, surrogacy is an option and surrogate babies can already expect to receive love, as their parents genuinely want and love them. Also, as shown in this film, lots of LGBTQ+ people choose to adopt, which allows a child to have a true home in which they will be loved. Imagine a heterosexual couple, who failed with contraception and could not get an abortion, abandoning their new-born child - this is a perfect example of why LGBTQ+ parents are good parents and can provide a child with support so that they want to further the species in the future. In addition, a film is a film and is dramatised. A Hitler biopic could make people feel sorry for him, but that’s because it is an artistic piece about a person that no one (apart from himself) would be able to tell the true, accurate life story of. On the other hand, homosexuality has been prevalent throughout the world since the beginning of mankind. How were there LGBTQ+ people all over the world, before communication even existed, let alone international communication. It’s not like a psychological disorder that spreads; it’s a natural part of humanity, that is not as common as straight, cisgender people, and so is looked down upon simply because it does not fit the majority. The same way that Jews were persecuted by Christians in early Europe and Bosnians were persecuted by Serbians, all due to their religious beliefs. Diversity was frowned upon and people found differences to be taboo. Furthermore, homophobia is really only a new concept, as the British’s colonialism led to the spread of supposed Christian beliefs that created modern societies’s culture of taboo. Otherwise, LGBTQ+ relationships and practices have happened all throughout human history (and even animal history), including in Islam - there is a recognition of a third gender in Islam. There were homosexual relationships among Ancient Romans, Ancient Greeks, Ancient Egyptians, Mughals and some statues outside Indian temples even depict homosexuality. The belief that sexualities and gender orientations are psychological disorders are completely flawed unless it is the most common, oldest disorder that has affected over 20% of the world’s population since the beginning of humanity. The truth is that being LGBTQ+ is completely natural and has only just started to get recognised and accepted.
The thing about Asian families just being in a denial is so true for so many of us that is bizarre. I came out to my parents in a weird way and my mom just threw a couple of bad allegations at me, then said i don't know what I'm talking about, then just straight up not talking about it ever again untill 4 years later as a sarcastic jab during an argument. Mom- "What did you say huh? You're homosexual, bisexual, heterosexual?" Me-"yes" And then she quickly moved on to the next argument. And the funny thing is , I'll never know what my dad thinks about all these cuz both of the times he was there when these conversations were happening, he was silent. It's been 6 years since I've came out ... Damn
Hey, I’m so sorry this happened to you. I would not put this in an Asian or any ethnic category for that matter but parents do be wildin. Actually, India was always ready - Hindu sculptures and scriptures (even the sacred ones) dating centuries back depicting genders other than men and women and homosexual relationships. Not sure of the social status though, but the third gender had acceptance in ancient India. The homo-phobia concept was mostly a foreign influence. Constantly snubbed and taunted for their beliefs by foreign invaders; a large section of Indians (Hindus) somehow succumbed to the pressure to follow the way of invaders and started upholding their ways. As the concept was not alien; most of the Indian regions started accepting it quite quick in comparison to the time the Western world took to accept other genders.

@@shantanuranjan5462 Yes. Have you read other scriptures? A king who was also a woman. He had 2 names for both gender personas? There were also stories of two queens in a relationship. Manusmriti is quite new compared to that. As an atheist, I hate when I sound like defending any religion. But Hindu ways used to be liberal that gradually became rigid. And I agree with you, Manusmriti corrupted the core essense of it. The manipulators in BJP and RSS are using texts from the later stages for own benefit.

Every now and then I hop over to this video to rewatch Achara discreetly passing the tissue roll to Jaby as he's sobbing away at this very gut-wrenching moment in the film. It's so beautiful to see. We can all relate. And yes I am crying too - again. I kinda love it. OkBye.

What I loved abt the movie is, how it wasn't abt the "technical" part of being gay, but abt emotions and falling in love. Unlike other LGBTQ Indian movies just saying they're in love or showing lust, this movie showed romance, love, emotions, a connection, real chemistry. Thats why I was really rooting for them, esp Shardul and Guru, they were hella cute. Ofc RKR and Bhumi killed it! For me this is without a doubt one of the best Indian movie out there
I've been watching this channel since they done the Bajirao Mastani trailer reaction around seven years ago. And as a gay man, I was immensely touched by your appreciation of this movie. Especially, weirdly, something about seeing Jaby Koay cry, made me cry too
Hit me no differently cause i could relate and resonate myself in the whole situations of the movie. Thanks for reacting to it my favourite two. I’ve seen Achara pouring down many times but Jaby, man you’re the man cause you have feeling you’ve proven it 😅👍🏻
Me, a straight cis Dalit male from one of the most socially regressive state inside India watching and tearing this. I wish our society was liberal enough to accept each other ❤
I'm not an emotional person, but I couldn't have watched this in the theatre, especially the last few scenes. Thank god for OTT! Also, this whole brouhaha about homosexuality... ancient India has numerous instances (present even today in paintings and sculptures in certain ancient temples) of depictions of erotic homosexuality. As in ancient Rome, this was not considered taboo. Over time, though, the mores changed to such an extent that it was even considered a crime for a while.

6:47 saw them crying 😢 such issues are taboo. We know how it feels like to hold a secret that it doesn't have to be a secret but wait who wipes the tears with toilet papers. 😅
It's face tissues. No one carries handkerchief etc anymore. At least not in the west. And this is precisely one of the purposes of face tissues. You don't wipe your butt with these, it's an entirely different product.
They're using face tissues. But even toilet paper is just paper unless you've already put it near toilet. What's wrong with using it for wiping eye and nose tears.
Waiting for Bheed and Gehraiyaan, Achara needs to be there for the Gehraiyaan reaction as the movie is for deep people and everyone knows how deep and thoughtful achara is.
I really liked the conversation you had about lesbian couple from the pov of a male. I think this movie got criticism from LGBTQ+ community because of this thing. It was nonetheless a good movie made with a good intention.
@cinedesi 11:47 that’s the difference between “sympathy” and “empathy” where in you don’t have the empathy as you can’t place yourself in the place but still feel sympathy for them from an outsider yet understanding perspective. You can’t relate to that situation they are in but can understand it from other situations you have been in.

i come from very conservation and heavy heterosexual background. i wasn't able to relate to this movie, i did not cry. i was amused to see jaby and achara tearing up. i still can't wrap my head around homosexuality but that doesn't mean i don't respect people. everyone has their own way of finding love and i for once don't think have any right to judge people's will. speak of the movie, raj kumar rao can actually act amazing and this is one hell of a movie that showcase his acting range very well. all the actors and supporting actors played their role very well.
Hey, it's completely understandable if u cannot relate with this and so u didn't cry, being gay myself I can relate with it quite much so it's obvious for me to cry as I know how it's feel in that position. Basic things that everyone should follow is respect every human being and when you do that u are going to understand other people, their problem, their emotions, not just about LGBTQ people but in general human relations also, it basically improve your relationship with other human being.

India relationship between man and woman is not easily acceptable if they belong to different castes, or classes. Then forget about accepting relationships between LGBTQ couple. It's still foreign concept in 90% of India.
Wow Jaby & Achara, Thank you for lovely reaction on this movie. Being part of LGBTQ this movie was great very respectfully handling the topic instead of making it a joke on the community and its people. Just a small observation regarding your comment at 23 mins regarding its easier for Men to be accepted as gay in Asian countries might not be true, for India atleast. The reason being it has been associaated with the masculanity which is a very big thing in India. One can call it psuedo machoism. guys are teased growing up if they have are even slightly feminine in their action or associate with anyone who is possibly not so macho, though they are gay or not. Thus when you are conditioned whole your life like this it becomes very difficult for Guys to accept and get accepted as gay because being Gay inadvertly means not being a Man for most of the people here. This needs to change and LGBT community has been struggling to disassociate Homosexuality from sexual/mental disesase or incapabilty. I am against so called wokeism demanding to be identified as whatever I feel I am, thats too far fetached and illogical. However, thankfully India has accepted third gender and now our struggle is to ensure complete LGBTQ should counted in third gender as well as legal, social & human rights for people of community. Thankfully in youth, the new generation, there is more openness and acceptibility so hopeful for better future. Once again thanks! loved it

I really have hope from my current generation though..because most of my friends and classmates and people from my generation are really accepting of queer people whenever we have talked abt this issue..also there are tons of closeted people in our daily lives that people don't realize..i knew of atleast 4 guys who were effeminate and everyone knew that they were gay but everyone were accepting of them...we partied together, we drank together and everybody as friendly and nobody ever harassed themreally which i think was really eye opening to me abt my generation..and the decriminalization of homosexuality happened during that time and whenever that topic came up the general consensus was everybody has the right to live and love and we shouldnt judge anybody and i felt really proud of that...i think though most of the thanks should go to American TV shows and movies since everyone was obsessed with that and it kind of made everyone understand the issue and be more accepting
Yeah because of social media and internet connectivity, future generation would at least know that we exists and what are we.. and then acceptance is second step
Yep just got done with school and one of my classmates was out and dating another girl one of my senior the headboy was the star student and gay but not officially out but he still wrote gay poems and articles and pretty much everyone knew. Some ppl made nasty memes abt him but he was the fav of 80% of the school teachers were in love with him lol. I love that most of the academically successful students in my school are bi or gay lol most are not officially out but the gay ones know who eo is lol. So hope it keeps getting better every time. First time when i watched your reaction, I was hesitant to share my story of being a lesbian trans woman. Being queer is like a suicide mission sometimes. Sometimes you have two choices , safety or be yourself. I chose to be myself most of the time but i couldn't come out to my parents yet. I wear make up and have long hair, they say nothing most of the time. I always looked feminine from childhood, so most of my relative don't mind me that much. But, I still can sense some amount of homophobia and transphobia from them, that's why i am hesitant. I dated men first bcz I thought i was bi....but after being in 2 relationships, I realized that i love women while being a women myself. It was quite confusing. But after 22 years since my birth, I know myself properly now. I have a girlfriend btw, they're lesbian. My and their parents thinks that we are a hetero couple🤭...I am studying in italy now, away from home. Studying masters in astrophysics from unibo. I still miss my city but i wanna be myself too. I dunno what i should do. I am starting my hormones in two months. Tbh, being a trans woman and transitioning process in india is little bit easier than being a abroad student in europe. Well, I don't know what i should do more? I am open to suggestions in comment section...❤
@@harshbhardwaj9211 well, the study is free here in italy and also I get scholarship to live and study. So all in all 4-5 lakhs inr will be the cost. So, ya, it's cheaper than doing masters in india. Astrophysics PhD???! GOTTDAMN a whole trans icon! All the very best to you sister, gives me so much hope to read stories like yours ❤ May only good fortune find its way to you ❤❤❤
No, you're right. w|w is wayyy less accepted due to misogyny. There are also lots of Asian gay and bi men who can be very misogynistic and do not support the women in the community. I'd say I'm Bi Ace (easiest label to use atm if I have to) and my "issues" are not really anything like the struggles I know a lot of ppl around me have gone through. But with being both Bi and Ace is that tons of ppl think it's not real either of them😂 and much less 'together'. And, personally, I wouldn't waste my time coming out to my family cuz if they don't get it they don't. Not my problem but my friends have known whoever I have liked - whether the same or the opp gender. And, it's a funny thing how I'm considered the straightest among my queer friends and Real Queer for straight ppl. Though for the latter I'd say it's more cuz of me being neurodivergent and ppl's lack of awareness on that.
I see you, and I raise you a handshake 🤝 Bi/Pan+Ace is hard to explain.....even to other queer people somehow ....actually makes me more anxious to confide in other queer folks
India's journey with regard to homosexuality and LGBTQ+ rights has indeed come a long way, marked by significant progress and milestones. Historically, India had a complex relationship with homosexuality. In recent years, there has been a remarkable shift in India's legal landscape concerning homosexuality. The catalyst for change came in 2009 when the Delhi High Court delivered a landmark judgment in the case of Naz Foundation v. Government of NCT of Delhi. The court declared Section 377 unconstitutional to the extent that it criminalized consensual sexual acts between adults. However, this progressive decision was short-lived as it was overturned by the Supreme Court of India in 2013. The Supreme Court's ruling reinstated Section 377, reinstating the criminalization of same-sex relations. This setback galvanized LGBTQ+ activists, allies, and civil society organizations to intensify their efforts in the fight for equality. Their persistent advocacy efforts bore fruit in 2018 when the Supreme Court of India revisited the issue and delivered a landmark judgment in the case of Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India. In a historic decision, the court declared Section 377 as unconstitutional, thereby decriminalizing consensual same-sex sexual activity between adults. This judgment was a watershed moment and a major victory for LGBTQ+ rights in India They continue to fights for issues such as marriage equality, adoption rights, and workplace discrimination. Progress in these areas remains a work in progress but I am hopeful.
It is emotional tbh. Unlike Subh Mangal jyada savadhan which took this issue in a comedic way. Badhai Do took this issue in a serious way and showed Lavender marriage.
I have a friend in my college girls hostel. She's a lesbian, she and her girlfriend always stay together and nobody gives a damn about their sexuality. It's becoming pretty normal in here too.

Dude adrdhanaeshwar has nothing to do with being transgender. 😂 ist more about natural tendency to have both masculine personality and feminine. I am all for inclusivity. But Hindu society is heterosexual as well. The temples you are talking about are very rare and the Khajuraho ones are more inspired by Charvaka Philosophy the nastik philosophy, read about it, it’s definitely not majorly followed by people. Again being XXY is natural and accepted. But lesbian gay, no. Where is any direct defence to it.
Shiv Shakti is about Union of male female energies, when you already are one inside, why do you need to marry. This defeats the purpose of all arguments lgbt activists have.
Ironically ‘The taboo’ came in after the westerners came to India. Before that, though not celebrated widely, queer relationship was accepted in Indian cultures. In none of the laws and code of conduct of ancient India was there any taboo associated with homosexuality as such. The British were first to make it illegal and made it look like some social evil as their morality was pretty much derived the Bible which is pretty homophobic.
I hope the Indian hypocrites would understand it. But sometime I feel like as now more people are able to understand this as new generation is getting a bit older, I have some high hopes for our future.

I came out to my parents in a weird way and my mom just threw a couple of bad allegations at me, then said i don't know what I'm talking about, then just straight up not talking about it ever again untill 4 years later as a sarcastic jab during an argument.

See, just don't be selfish and say "let them do whatever they like, I don't care" or be like "Oh its so cute"... Its just so selfish, and here's why; you're not caring about the future generations... and Yes, LGBTQ practices are unnatural and Immoral... Also, being one of them is not genetic as it has been tuned to be the truth, out of lies, by western governments (its like, when you repeat a lie enough times, the lie seems to be the truth), in spite of repeated studies saying that its totally not connected to one's genetics and are indeed psychological disorders.

Yeah right 😂

What I loved abt the movie is, how it wasn't abt the "technical" part of being gay, but abt emotions and falling in love. Unlike other LGBTQ Indian movies just saying they're in love or showing lust, this movie showed romance, love, emotions, a connection, real chemistry. Thats why I was really rooting for them, esp Shardul and Guru, they were hella cute. Ofc RKR and Bhumi killed it! For me this is without a doubt one of the best Indian movie out there
Exactly! Other movies usually focus on lust and stereotypes and the whole purpose of the movie is destroyed.

India relationship between man and woman is not easily acceptable if they belong to different castes, or classes. Then forget about accepting relationships between LGBTQ couple. It's still foreign concept in 90% of India.
Nicely said
Wow Jaby & Achara, Thank you for lovely reaction on this movie.

I see you, and I raise you a handshake 🤝
Bi/Pan+Ace is hard to explain.....even to other queer people somehow ....actually makes me more anxious to confide in other queer folks
Guys guys.... 2018 Reaction 👀💎
This judgment was a watershed moment and a major victory for LGBTQ+ rights in India
They continue to fights for issues such as marriage equality, adoption rights, and workplace discrimination. Progress in these areas remains a work in progress but I am hopeful.
I never expected jaby to cry in this movie 😅
It is emotional tbh. Unlike Subh Mangal jyada savadhan which took this issue in a comedic way. Badhai Do took this issue in a serious way and showed Lavender marriage.
Wow what a movie reaction. I waited for all the episodes to drop.
Will miss Nitesh Pandey. A great actor. RIP.
Never saw jaby cry 😅even the more bitter ending movies couldn't
Watch Bareilly Ki Barfi 2017 (Rajkummar Rao Ayushmann Khurrana)

Yes to Anand! I hope more people start recommending classics.

I have a friend in my college girls hostel. She's a lesbian, she and her girlfriend always stay together and nobody gives a damn about their sexuality. It's becoming pretty normal in here too.
A biographic movie on Adolf Hitler can make a person to rationalize Hitler's doings... Making a movie is a craft... and artists are damn good at it... They can make you cry or make you get angry as they wish...
Please don't get me wrong, I'm not against the people who have genetic disorders like Klinefelter syndrome, etc... they are commonly misunderstood by people with little knowledge about them and get categorized as "LGBTQ" people by them.
Please have concern about the future of Human race or our species, Homo sapiens.
And just don't be like "Its not my business..."
Think thoughtfully like a wise man and not like a person in the mob who gets swayed by the ideas of the crowd.
Think once again.
@@00o0o00 See I only said that it is now being normalised. I didn't term anything like natural/unnatural or moral/immoral. And I agree with some of your points too!
Pls watch kabhi alvida na kehna. One of my favs movie on relationships and infidelity!
i never understand how being gay or lesbian become TABOO in Indian society , when we have Temple built exclusively for transgender thoushand years ago "Koothandavar Temple " , we have a god which is half male half female "Ardhanareeshvara" which represnts ,'shiva and shakti" both , our ancestors were way more evolved then what modern Indians are in 21st century .
Again, I don’t fine in mythology anywhere, lesbian relationship. Or gay.
