I just bought the 417LI Solo backpack sprayer after buying the 10L two weeks ago. 10L just wasn't enough to efficiently do 1/2 an acre. I really like the draining nozzle feature @2:56, it will make it much easier to clean the sprayer after use. Great video as usual!
Sweet mate...I've got a Chapin one...lawn is looking ready to pop for Spring...can't wait for the shirt to get here..."It's the final countdown" 🎶...YNWA
Spring's just around the corner.....and your lawn's going to be awesome! Do give future updates on the sprayer, brother. I like! 👍👍 Thanks for another enjoyable vid! ✌️
Hey Ben, i was keen on the nozzles used here. Followed the links from the notes, but the links are not working anymore. Any chance of letting me know what they are and anywhere I could get them from now. Cheers
Very informative video, Im definitely going to grab one of these, the link no longer works for the nozzles, I can only find Dr nozzle website at the moment, I have no clue what size flat fan one I would need, thanks
Great vid thanks mate! May I ask, do you use the same backpack for all your products such as fertiliser, fungicide, insecticide, herbicides, etc? If you do; do you just wash out the pack with water or do use something else to clean it when switching products?
I've just picked recently my second Solo 417. The first one is still going strong after 4 or five years. Just the second one is taken over the role of broadleaf spray only while the first one is glyphosate only. And they never feel really heavy due to great balance and comfort. The old manual pump just won't give up and so it's relegated to insecticidal spray. I bought two Stihl small manual sprays and they are just awful. Hate them both and they keep breaking. It's cheaper to chuck them in the wheely bin than to pay Stihl for expensive parts.
Bought this sprayer as well and was looking for these check valves and nozzles you described but the link seems not to work? Can you share some details so I can google for a european version of this please? Thanks.
Hey Ben, I bought the female thread check valve after your humid acid vid but it doesn't connect to a swagman. Do you know if a male thread would work?
Ah, unfortunately the swagman gear doesn’t take any attachments apart from their own. You could always attach a different hose to it with another spray wand.
Was looking at getting the silvan battery powered knapsack from Bunnings do you know if these are any good or should I spend the extra money and get one of these?
Yep, I’ve heard great reviews about the silvan backpack sprayers. A few clients have them and love them. Solo is better quality but the silvan one is still sweet!
Update: I had to send back the 417, constant problems with leaving 2 litres left in the knapsack.. electric knapsacks are great when working but there more trouble then there worth. Matabi knapsack had troubles with, now solo..
Hi Ben I'm trying to find your vid where you get annoyed that it always leaves last 2L of fluid, I'm using double nozzle boom and I remmeber you solved this issue, Was it using a pressure regulator tip?
Hey man! Does the Myles have the same threads at the solo do you know? You can get the boom from globe growing solutions, farm suppliers. I think even Lawn Pride sells them
Sexy sprayer mate! I’m jelly, I have a 1 gal pump chapin. How much was that solo? Winter is just around the corner for me 😐. That yard though 😍 wow. Looking real nice.
Sweet sprayer bud looking at getting the silvan rechargeable knapsack 16l from Bunnings, just out curiosity was the litres per 100sq much different to your original calibration
Hey BEN any chance u could let me know we’re I can purchase your nozzles just brought new rechargeable knapsack and nozzles are pretty cheap cheers mate
Your videos always have the info I'm looking for. You're my lawn Rabbi

as a follow up: i used the 417Li sprayer twice before the gauge broke. It's the most flimsy, low quality, gimmicky aspect of the sprayer.
Love the vid/s! It's nice to see a lawn guy from this side of the globe dealing with our conditions. I'm looking forward to following your journey. 👍
CuriousJoe thanks mate! Glad you are watching. 👍🏽👍🏽
Wow! Your neighbors have a beautiful soil !
Ain’t nothing wrong with some beautiful soil 😉😆
Solo makes quality stuff! I've never been disappointed with anything solo! Great video mate!
Thanks man! Yeah awesome gear! We use it at work. Quality stuff
I gave you a shout on my latest video!
Brett Goodyear haha just watched it. Good stuff bro
I wish I could agree but my first and only experience was a waste of time and money
@@Brettsgrasscapadesdoes the solo still hold up?
I’ve been eyeing the solo backpack sprayer for Christmas. Looked like the best quality to me, so glad you did this!
No worries sir! Just do it 😉😉
Any update on how the 417 has been for you?
How much water did you use for the 100 sqm?
How’s the 417 going?
I've been using a Selecta battery powered backpack sprayer for a few years now. Works well. Handy to be able to drain the tank from the bottom though.
Yeah selecta is great also 👌🏽
Yeah definitely is handy. Used that feature already!
Great vid! Did you end up adding a boom ? And if so which one?
Sweet mate...I've got a Chapin one...lawn is looking ready to pop for Spring...can't wait for the shirt to get here..."It's the final countdown" 🎶...YNWA
The Chaplin ones are sweet!
Yeah has moved along heaps hasn’t it! It’s only up from here!
Hope all is well man! YNWA

Did you have a link for the nozzles dont wrk now.. thanks in advance bro
I found the new website at DrNozzle.com.au - they have the old MrNozzle product guide on the front page, so I assume they are the same business.

He's Done it again, top video mate!!!
Haha, thanks man!
Hey Buddy, Whats the reason for not applying herbicide when still frosty conditions? Can it not be taken up in the leaf?
Hey mate! It’s only with poa chek. Which is a wintergrass killer. Can potentially burn your lawn if you get frost the following day
Cool Thanks :) Thought i was doing something wrong.

Hey Ben what was your old sprayer? Did you rate it very much?

Was it using a pressure regulator tip?
So how many litres vs sq meters did you come up with
Hey mate do u have a link for the spray nozzle just purchase a rechargeable knapsack and was keen on getting the quick release nozzle
Hey Ben
Do you have working link to the sprayer nozzle?
Here you go mate 🤙🏼 www.drnozzle.com.au/shop/backpack-sprayer-nozzle-pack/402PACK
@@LawnTips thanks legend!
G’day Ben great vid mate. I’m very interested in a boom sprayer for my knapsack, just a Nylex cheapie, don’t know where to get one though.
Hey man! Does the Myles have the same threads at the solo do you know?
You can get the boom from globe growing solutions, farm suppliers. I think even Lawn Pride sells them
Lawn Tips not sure mate, I’ll try to find out. 👍
where would you recommend we get the nozzles from now considering mr nozzle is gone?
I found the new website at DrNozzle.com.au - they have the old MrNozzle product guide on the front page, so I assume they are the same business.
Turf is looking thick and pretty.
Thank you sir!

Haha thanks mate 😉
In the US I think you can get it for around $200.
Thanks man! I’m looking forward to seeing how it looks come spring!
Welcome to the club! Getting caught up on lawn content. Been away for a minute or two. Great video bro! Pumps are for chumps. #batteryallday
I've missed you sir! Hope you had an awesome time at the conference or whatever video event it was haha. Can't go back to a pump one now!
The first day of Spring, I'm so over winter.
I’m exactly the same man. Keen for this warmer weather
Sweet sprayer bud looking at getting the silvan rechargeable knapsack 16l from Bunnings, just out curiosity was the litres per 100sq much different to your original calibration
From My original sprayer?
Yeh mate
Was about 2L less than the old one! So a little different
Sweet mate, lawn looking smick as always, keep those vids coming, looking forward that Reno vid your doing soon 👍🏼
Hey BEN any chance u could let me know we’re I can purchase your nozzles just brought new rechargeable knapsack and nozzles are pretty cheap cheers mate
This electric knapsack is a bit frustrating . When I get down to 2 litres left, the pressure goes down and doesn't want to let anymore out
Sweet video!
Heads up Mate there's a recall on the battery charger for the 417 sprayer
That explains a lot. I've been battling with mine for 3 years.
Brilliant Video, but not to keen on the Solo brand sprayer ,I purchased one and the lance had a split in it not impressed but your video was good.
You mate, I just ordered a stubbie holder and some nozzles. Now to hide it all from the misses ;)
Legend!!
Haha 😂
So ... spring has finally sprung, down-under!
This comment excites me 👌🏽 thank you sir!
I'm excited, too! We've been hovering at or close to 100 in North Texas since early June and .... I'm ready for a nice freeze!
I bet! That’s too hot in my opinion. Although I could take some of that heat instead of the cold for a bit haha
How are you finding this solo sprayer now?
So pumped!
There ain’t no pumping go on anymore! 😉
Ben, your links for nozzles have changed, can you update?
German made ? 100 % certain ?
porque le pones musica de fondo si se supone que uno quiere ver que tan silenciosa es
Cheeky bloke! But told ya you always say it 😉
You love it
Stihl SR420
yo mate, what up!
Yooooo!
Great video brother, keep up the great content
Thanks mate, appreciate it!
Who's been kicking mulch on the lawn?
Kids/birds/wind. I was cringing looking at it when I was editing.
I bought a 417. It was beyond useless. Completely unreliable and spent more time being repaired than in work.
I like it but $385 is a bit rich for a sprayer!
I can get it a bit cheaper for you if you like 😉
Dont care about ur nozzles just try the damn solo man
Good on you. Maybe you should go out and buy one with your own Money and do a review if mine wasn’t the way you wanted it to be.
@@LawnTips Now y would i spen mine if ur gona get these sprayers free, come on
Yeah I didn’t get it for free. I’ve paid for all my equipment. Don’t assume just because other people get theirs for free I do
SOLO is no longer german...... BUY HONDA 25L with GX35 4 stroke
