So is this Petra 4050 your favorite backpack sprayer? Is it the one you would recommend for, say, a pest control professional? Or is there another one you like better?
I do like the 4050 more than the 4000 right out of the box, stock. Before I got the 4050, I made modifications to the 4000. Because of the mods, I’m really only using the 4000 at the moment. Both perform almost exactly the same with a few differences... the 4050 seems to empty its contents better than the 4000, which I really like. This works well for pest control in the lawn, not sure what your use will be. But it’s been pretty good for me.
Jake he was given these sprayers so take that into consideration and also notice he never said the 4000 or 4050 was his favorite sprayer. Get a Flowzone or My 4 sons and don't waste your time with this inferior sprayer. All the Petra reviews on RUclips are from people given this sprayer, smart move on Petra parts to flood RUclips with these sprayers but don't be fooled by it.
@@edwardlindsay2306 I appreciate your reply. Funny enough we just discovered the flow zone after watching these reviews. It seems everyone in the pest control business is using em now. I’m waiting for my chapin to break, then I’m getting a flow zone. I haven’t heard of 4 brothers. Of those two brands which do you like better? Flowzone or 4 brothers
Thanks so much for creating this video. You did such a great job I ended up purchasing the 1050 through your link. 2 Questions: Could you give me a link to the T-Jet nozzles you use? And do you always run the sprayer at its top PSI?or do you vary it, and when and why would you vary it?
Thanks for watching! I usually keep the pressure on the highest setting. Regarding tee jets, here is a video I did on my retrofit of the HD4000: ruclips.net/video/wISSGEfZPBs/видео.html The video description in that video contains everything you need.
So if you are doing a broadcast application, I’d recommend a fan tipped nozzle. If you are doing spot applications, might be better off going with something like a cone that is narrower than the fan to only focus on the weed you are spraying and not overspray around it. You can use a fan as well for spot spraying, but depending on the product you are using, you may see some stressing out of the good grass around the weed. And with a fan tip, it’ll look like a square or rectangle. Does that make sense?
I noticed that the pump on the HD4000 will prime and then shutoff… and the HD4050 pump continues to run while the knob is turned on. Is this the same with your observation or do I have a defective unit?
It should prime then switch off. I heard of this being an issue when using it the first time. I’ve heard some have good luck with using warm water at first.
No leaks! But before I spray anything, I’m making sure the hose connections are tight as a precautionary measure. The 4000 was the first sprayer I received. Got that toward the end of last season. During the winter of this year is when I received the 4050. I like the 4050 more because it’s a bit sleeker in design and is a bit more ergonomic, but I did a retrofit to the 4000 before getting the 4050. I changed the wand to a quick connect with TeeJet nozzles. So I’ve been sticking with the 4000.
Hopefully the HD4050 doesn't leak like the HD4000 does. I am disappointed with my purchase of the HD4000 and dismayed that Petra sold a sprayer that they knew leaks, hence the plumber's tape included with the sprayer. The tape worked for awhile but not real long. It leaks at almost all of the 5 connections. I plan on purchasing a better battery-powered sprayer but NOT from Petra.
It does. The lid opening is flat on 2 sides and liquid leaks down your back when using it if you are shaking liquid as you spray to kerp it mixed. If you tilt the tank a steady stream pours out the side of the top screw on cap through the flat spots on.lid opening. If you do not mind chemicals all over your back, it is a great sprayer. .
Check out this video I did. It features the two TeeJets I use. There are links in the description of the video. ruclips.net/video/wISSGEfZPBs/видео.html
Got a HD4050 works good but the lid does not seal so you have whatever your using slosh out and cover your back and legs. Called factory and they sent a more flat gasket instead of o ring style but did not help and no it's not coming out of vent it's leaking around mouth of bottle and threads on lid. So now i got to try to fix myself gonna try removing gasket and using engine gasket maker for car filling in the groove. Shouldn't have to do this to a brand new piece of equipment.
My 4050 keeps beeping (and stop spraying) in max pressure setting even with fully charged battery, and it start spraying again a second later; did yours keep beeping too?

Is the 4050 an update to the 4000 or a new higher end model that will sell alongside the 4000?
They sell this alongside the 4000... but it seems like an update to me.
@@TheLawngineer good to know, thanks for the info!
Guess I'll go with the 4050 then, thanks.

The HD4050 has a lithium ion battery and the HD4000 has lead acid. This explains the weight difference.
