You can fail a driver's test outright, or earn too many demerit points causing you to fail. On most driver's tests, you're allowed 35 points before you fail the test. You don't have master of the primary controls of the vehicle. Your starts are jerky, your braking is aggressive, and your turns are too wide. Another reason is that you fail to shoulder check when changing the vehicle's direction. You must observe. And your observation is directly linked to your speed control. If you're not adjusting your speed every 8-15 seconds, it tells the driving examiner that you're not observing correctly. Importantly, you will fail your driving test if you don't know what's on the test. For example, does your DMV parallel park with cones? You need to practice slow-speed maneuvers to pass the parallel parking with cones. Good luck on your driver's test.

Play excellent video and in some parts of the world you will see signs saying chevon markings this is to remind drivers to keep distance Between themselves and another vehicle in front & behind them. Some driving schools actually use hybrid or electric cars
Hello Rick. failed my 2nd driving test today. the annoying part is how I had fewer notable mistakes -- 4 versus 10in my first road test, but I still failed due to inconsistent shoulder checking (which apparently here in Victoria is up to 3 misses). I can see why some of the people I know get frustrated.

Hello! I took my driver's test yesterday here in Victoria BC, and strangely enough some of the things they marked me down on was doing more than 1 shoulder check on corners, and doing a signal BEFORE a shoulder check on turning a corner or changing lanes. Also Vic driving tests are unusually strict... its only 10 points, and thats it. You fail at 10.
I'm doing a retake soon but I want to ask what your thoughts are about that.
Passed my test yesterday, the mirror signal shoulder check tip definitely helped

Hi Rick just want to update my test today is windy and snowing but i PASSED my test it was easier than i thought, as you said road test on winter is easy no Pedestrian No bicyclist no much traffic at all

I passed my road test today 6-6-23 🙌🏼 1st try!! 😊 thanks for all these videos they helped me a lot! I failed my parallel parking, and when doing my u- turn, I failed to check my blind spot 🙃 20 points. I'm so glad I did GREAT on my driving!! I will keep watching on your bad weather. I live upstate NY. I need to get ready for the snow ❄️

I remember you stating that it would be easier with the instructor being a bit more lenient and speeds being slower, but I was hoping I could get all the reasons in a little list for some reinforced learning?

hey rick I passed my test a week ago while winterstorm and like you said it was so easy. and thats my first time. my instructor told me 45-50 its okay and 25-30 and the only error I got is wide right turn. thanks to ur video !

I passed my test, the parking all went perfectly excluding touching a cone while exiting. I was so stressed over nothing, driving in the new city was really scary but it went just fine! Thank you again for your videos!!! :D

Hi Rick! I just want to be enlightened regarding parking brake. Do you apply parking / foot brake first before shifting to park? That's what I'm doing and some says for the road test it's better to shift to park first before the parking brake. I'm confused 😅
It's the parking brake first and then shift into PARK on the transmission. #1 - Hold the foot brake, #2 - apply the parking brake, #3 - Put the transmission into PARK, #4 Release the foot brake. Drop us a note if we can help further. When's your driving test? All the best, Cheers Rick

My 20 yrs. Daughter did her test near our DMV but the streets have heavy traffic of homeless people they were in the street so my daughter swerved into another Lane safely when there was no traffic and avoided to hit the person and the instructor told her that points were taken away because she went into another Lane but she slow down, looked ahead & did what was needed to avoid pedestrian, is there another way that she can pass the test or what should she have done?
I was told from my driving instructor in a situations like that it’s best to slow down or if needed
stop and let the pedestrian cross the street
This may be a dumb question but when two opposite vehicles approach a 2 way stop sign at the same time and they’re both turning left, who goes first???? They can go at the same time if their paths aren’t crossing right?

(I bought your course on your website so I'm a "paying customer".) Another question about taking my test tomorrow... Uhmmm I have a doctor's excuse for the eye test. I can see well with eye contacts the doctor prescribed but the 4th box on the right of the eye test is invisible to me because I'm not a kid anymore😅 How long do those confirmation numbers last that the ophthalmologist gives out for DMV purposes? Again it's South Carolina, United States.

Is it a good or bad idea to practice with the instructor for an hour just before the test?
It depends - how fast can you pick up new skills. If you haven't taken driving lessons previously, you might want it a bit earlier so you can fix up some of the skills that the instructor suggests. Let us know what you do. All the best, Cheers Rick
