What the fuck??! This show is the most beloved thing in the Star Wars franchise at the moment where did you even heard ''lot of bad things about this''?
This Episode might be the one of the best in the whole Clone Wars series. I can name others, but this one is very good. Not only does it introduce good plotlines as well as bring back characters from sequels (Mon Mothma) and KOTOR (Selkath species!), but also it puts forward some moral and philosophical moments.
George Lucas actually is the main writer, creator, and executive producer on this show as well as the films. Writing has always been great in all Star Wars films when it comes to main themes and pivotal story arc moments.
@@luans.40 He wrote the story for each of those films and screenplay credit for 2 of those. He constantly pitched ideas on this show and is responsible for episodes such as the Mortis Arc.
@@KazeAizen not really. Kids can enjoy it, but it isn’t catered towards them, especially with how dark it can be. Little kids are killed on screen in the show even.
Padme: gets a small scratch on her cheek, flinches when it's treated Thorn: took 4 whole chest shots before going down, died screaming for the Republic Echo: lost his legs, an arm, most of his body weight, and part of his mind, "Rex, i got a big headache"
And Jar Jar Abrams wants us to forget all that period, getting rid of powerful messages that the prequels could show while the originals didn't (don't get *triggered* the originals are great too) especially his episode 7, which lacked of any message and even political context.
LJK401 yeah but Bernie doesn’t care about you. Bernie wants us to live in a socialist hell hole where we must eat our pets to survive. Wasn’t there like a 60 year long Cold War we were involved in to protect Americans and the rest of the world from people who share the same ideology of Sen. Sanders?
It would have been also great to see Rex, Cody and Wolf reacting to the speech. Because they would understand that the army would have needed more clones and in the end this speech isn't supporting the cause of the clones, but it's supporting the cause what they are fighting for. Maybe the clones are following orders, but in the end they are fighting for the weak and the ones who can't fight for themselves.
Oh, there was also an article about the CW being - perhaps - the best political animated series. Though I presume, CW was always intended to be more about Jedi and adventures.
I love how clone wars makes character deaths more meaningful when it comes to Order 66 and what happened in Episode Three. A lot of politicians like Padme that had a good chunk of authority behind them died thanks to what palpatine did. If a few of them were still alive after order 66 they would've made the rebels an even bigger threat.
I always loved the clone wars for the action but also moments like this. Not every action show needs to have fighting every episode. Deep moments like this are well appreciated
This one another reason I consider Clone Wars the Bible for the prequels. In the movies, Palpatine's motives were only thought to be a Jedi vs Sith thing. But here you can see that Palpatine wanted political power too even after being a powerful person. Padme was Palpatine's political rival and would have been for the rest of his life if she had lived through the Empire age. So a dying Padme and fallen Anakin was a win-win situation for him.
the politics in the clone wars were always so interesting to me. the way palpatine dominated both sides of the war, and the political aspects of war were shown in such a great way in this spectacular show
Everything about this episode was perfect and THIS is the definitive Sheev Palpatine, not the lazily written in clone we got from Episode IX. Still, JJ was working under pressures so I sympathize with that.
Between the music, Padmé’s powerful words, and the massive nostalgia this video gave me, I legitimately teared up. Clone Wars will always be #1 in my heart.
To be honest I think this served to highlight just how powerful Palpatine truly is in Star Wars. We all see displays of his physical or spiritual abilities in the force, but were rarely given a few moments to see what social and political power he posses.
It's sad, Padme's speech is very moving and shows way more of her character than the films ever did, making it obvious why Anakin loved her so much. Yet we all know ultimately it fails. Padme dies, Anakin becomes a monster and the Republic falls, sending countless people into decades of suffering...and if we're following the Sequels even after the Empire falls another group of assholes rises up like 20 years later and the whole thing starta agian.
What are you talking about? How does this speech have anything to do with the way the Empire as a dictatorship runs the galaxy and the Rebellion in Andor/OT are standing up to it because of the way it controls everything. As far as Padme is concerned, the Republic, a democratic system were going to vote in favour of passing a bill to fund the war even further. And leave its citizens to suffer without getting enough money themselves to survive.
that scene at the end though shows not just Palpatine conceding for the moment in his plan but acknowledging Padme's ability and even her popularity that can be greater then his own in a number of places
Palpatine's comment send shivers to my spine because it shows just how important politics actually are and how important Padme and other senators like her were to the whole galaxy.
Man, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is probably the best TV show I've ever seen in terms of expanding on the prequels, and it's been around for 12 years already.
A lesson some countries have yet to learn. You dispute wars for the good of your people and country. Any war that, even if won, doesn't improve their lives or protect them, should not be fought
Padmé is such an excellent character, I’m glad we got to see more of her day to day senate work in TCW after many of those key political scenes were cut from ROTS
These episodes used to get lumped in with the other weaker parts of the show and I'm glad in recent years there has been a clear shift in that attitude. These politically focused episodes are IMPORTANT and set as much, if not more frame work for the Clone Wars itself than any battle can. As well as setting clear and obvious parallels with our world and this one. And it shows how good the shows writing actually is. That a show focused on war and filled to the brim with action and battles, land and space, is able to equally hold its own and in fact thrive in episodes where barely more than few fists and a single shot or 2 fly
Sidious already had his endgame set a very long time ago a millennium back when Darth Bane alone survived that last big Jedi/Sith battle. Sadly Padmé and her colleagues had already lost. The Sith learned to adapt, and infiltrate other parts of the Republic’s infrastructure to where they were able to corrupt almost all of it, like a cancer. And that cancer had become terminal by Padmé’s time. Even if Anakin had never been found Sidious was all set to deliver the final nail in the Republic’s coffin, and the Jedi Order’s.
@@MMZERO9 well no. If any proper investigation into the origins of the clone army had been done the whole plan would have fallen apart pretty quickly, the senate was just too corrupt and the jedi too apathetic to follow through.
@@MMZERO9 even if Sidious had fallen, the damage he had dealt would still remain. perhaps the rise of the empire and the galactic civil war was truly the only way to stop him.
The only thing that saved Padme from assasination was the fact that Palpatine planned carefully turning Anakin to the darkside and her death at this moment would disrupt it...

Not only does it introduce good plotlines as well as bring back characters from sequels (Mon Mothma) and KOTOR (Selkath species!), but also it puts forward some moral and philosophical moments.
Mon mothma is not a sequel character
@@darthmalice7464 The comment was posted seven years ago lol, I think by sequels they meant the originals
@@izztwo4369 lol
I think that's much more memorable, and valuable content.

Proof that Palpatine narrated the entire Clone Wars series, just under a third identity
Imagine having a person like Padme becoming the head of the United Nations.
even if someone like her was at it's head, the rest of the body remains corrupt.
@@christopherbravo1813 Agreed, we need a new body.
@@EwingAmaterasu honestly, I don't think any sort of body such as the UN is necessary.
@@christopherbravo1813 The UN was really built to help prevent another world war, heres hoping they dont start another one
@@Mr.Scott86 all the UN is now is an Israel hate club XD
The whole episode is very strong dramatically. It doesn't look as a simple cartoon or large show, but more like a mature episode.
"that's more than the republic ever gave me" that line from the bad batch reminds me of this speech.
So Palpatine created a problem then presented himself as a solution to it. Very true to life for fascists.
"So this is how liberty is born... with thunderous applause."
- Palpatine, probably
Man this speech brings me to tears, its so moving as well as motivating and the music in the background perfectly adds to the emotion of the situation
It's such an amazing speech. But in the end, we know it will all be for nothing. It makes me so sad.
This why I really like the character Padme. Then clone wars tv series really improved her character.
her speech only made people hate the jedi more. "yeah those damn jedi and their clone war. Making us suffer"
George Lucas actually is the main writer, creator, and executive producer on this show as well as the films. Writing has always been great in all Star Wars films when it comes to main themes and pivotal story arc moments.
He doesn't have writing credit on the show ironically enough. (Unless you count "characters created by...")
He didn’t wrote the show and he didn’t wrote the OT
@@luans.40 He wrote the story for each of those films and screenplay credit for 2 of those. He constantly pitched ideas on this show and is responsible for episodes such as the Mortis Arc.
I credit Dave Filoni for the genius that is The Clone Wars animated series.
I never liked senator amidala but with this speech, it turns millions including me to like her. WOAAH! How could've I miss this?!
Padme was so much better in the show than the movie. And she was way more badass.
And people still think its a kids show, because kids totally love politics 😂
It....is a kids show still......that's nothing to be ashamed about either.
To be fair, politics are shoved down the throats of the youth more than ever
@@KazeAizen not really. Kids can enjoy it, but it isn’t catered towards them, especially with how dark it can be. Little kids are killed on screen in the show even.
@@KazeAizen yes im 16 and i still love the show and idc if ppl think its for kids
Most shows in the 90s and early 2000s were as dark as hell. Actually I would consider this to be the cartoon on the end of that era
Padme: gets a small scratch on her cheek, flinches when it's treated
Thorn: took 4 whole chest shots before going down, died screaming for the Republic
Echo: lost his legs, an arm, most of his body weight, and part of his mind, "Rex, i got a big headache"
Anakin : lost all limbs and was burnt alive
you don't have to be physically capable to change the world.
Imagine how much different Star Wars would be if it was a dictatorship or anything other than a democracy.
Damn! 9 years later and I got a heart! Thank you so much if you somehow read this.
It's called the Empire
What the guy above me said. It’s called the Galactic Empire ruled by Palpatine.
Imagine a Communist Star Wars galaxy
And Jar Jar Abrams wants us to forget all that period, getting rid of powerful messages that the prequels could show while the originals didn't (don't get *triggered* the originals are great too) especially his episode 7, which lacked of any message and even political context.

So true.
yeah, it certainly feels that way.
It was this moment palpatine knew he had to get rid of Padme.
Never did I think I'd hear a poignant speech about military spending and the purpose of war in an animated Star Wars show.
It wasn't the youtube algorithm that brought us here. It was the will of the force!
Curious. I don't think we have any Senators that would compare to Amidala. Sad
J Lord most definitely not bernie
@@KS-qr1ry Lol what? Bernie wants to stop pointless wars like she does
Aoc is heading in that direction
@@rich2war Yeah
LJK401 yeah but Bernie doesn’t care about you. Bernie wants us to live in a socialist hell hole where we must eat our pets to survive. Wasn’t there like a 60 year long Cold War we were involved in to protect Americans and the rest of the world from people who share the same ideology of Sen. Sanders?
So this is what Padme does when she isn't dying of sadness or having the personality of a plank of wood. I love this show
It would have been also great to see Rex, Cody and Wolf reacting to the speech.
2:50 even the dark lord of the sith needs therapy 🤣
Being the chancellor of the entire galaxy while waging two armies against each other while being a Sith Lord is stressful
The way he said “turn” at the end gave me shivers.
This was the speech in which we found out that Palpatine had ulterior motives and that he may have been behind everything
I always loved this episode
Palpatine: I’m gonna ruin this whole man’s career
This inspires me to be a senator when I grow up
2:50 At first, it looked like Palpatine was breaking the fourth wall
I love how clone wars makes character deaths more meaningful when it comes to Order 66 and what happened in Episode Three.
A lot of politicians like Padme that had a good chunk of authority behind them died thanks to what palpatine did. If a few of them were still alive after order 66 they would've made the rebels an even bigger threat.
3:08 one of the reasons why Palpatine won, he was patient
2:52 The moment when a man decides to stop being a man and become the senate.
Padme out there legitimately inspiring Palpatine.
I was way to young to appreciate this when I first saw it
Whenever I want to feel moved, I come back to this scene. 💯
Padme was so much better in the show than the movie. She was way more badass.
she actually gave a good speech in AOTC but it was cut out
Lucas wouldn't be able to write such speech even if he locked himself in a room for months.
@@zyrusvito what speech was that? Do you have a link?

@@zyrusvito thanks!

Nice eye and cool that we saw this in live action in the third season of the kandalorian
Everything about this episode was perfect and THIS is the definitive Sheev Palpatine, not the lazily written in clone we got from Episode IX. Still, JJ was working under pressures so I sympathize with that.
I don't think Abrams should be absolved of blame.
Palpatine: "Thank you Senator Amidala."
*also Palpatine:* "been tryin to kill this bitch since episode 1 fr tho shes getting under my skin"
That ending was so satisfying for me. It was beautiful to see she single-handedly and kinda without trying made Palpatine comply.
Padme is so freaking amazing I love her...
Between the music, Padmé’s powerful words, and the massive nostalgia this video gave me, I legitimately teared up. Clone Wars will always be #1 in my heart.
Palpatine's FULL speech in ROTS when he formed the empire was also amazing as it contrasts this
To be honest I think this served to highlight just how powerful Palpatine truly is in Star Wars. We all see displays of his physical or spiritual abilities in the force, but were rarely given a few moments to see what social and political power he posses.
Yes the speech was good but can we take a moment to appreciate Padme's outfit. Always on point even her funeral garb.
Crazy to see a lively senate turn into an empty one in Andor.
@@Aamzy786He was literally just comparing the senate in both shows.
To this day I still get goosebumps listening to this speech
Man, 5,000,000 clones. Such a large army. It's only 5 times larger than the US military. And it's supposed to fight on a galactic scale. Amazing.
5X larger in relative peace time, for us. If a total war were to break out, we could triple the number shown.
that scene at the end though shows not just Palpatine conceding for the moment in his plan but acknowledging Padme's ability and even her popularity that can be greater then his own in a number of places
This IS the best speech ever!
Palpatine's comment send shivers to my spine because it shows just how important politics actually are and how important Padme and other senators like her were to the whole galaxy.
yeah, the Clone Wars really gave Padme great character development
I don't understand why so many people dislike the politics of Star Wars. In my mind they are what make it so riveting
Real politicians ain't even close to Senator Amidala
such an inspiring voice in a dark time. thank you Padme
It’s sad that Palpatine with her husband later undone her entire work by creating the empire and militarizing the galaxy
Even if Anakin had never been found Sidious was all set to deliver the final nail in the Republic’s coffin, and the Jedi Order’s.
r/ihadastroke
I mean, he already undid her work by getting this bill passed.
U know it is a good speech if your opponent admits it, even kaminoans applauded that speech.
The only thing that saved Padme from assasination was the fact that Palpatine planned carefully turning Anakin to the darkside and her death at this moment would disrupt it...
I love how much of sideous you can see come out in this scene. We are all familiar with either the fake kind Palpatine and the deformed evil sideous, but its nice to see sideous come out before he was deformed without his entire face covered by a cloak
Republic in theory: this speech but a lot more and people aren't slowly clapping
Republic in practice: Palpatine
You know it's a good speech when even your opponents give you begrudging applause.
