Alright!!! You used my Welfare Express video!!! THANKS for sharing. I enjoyed filming it. I was trying to use your voice over accents. Too funny!!! Thanks, and YES, I love this kind of garbage!!
The problem with trucking these days is that it attracts the wrong kind of people. Now only desperate people go into trucking. Obviously there will be people who really want to be truckers because of the lifestyle or heritage etc. But with all the new regulations, restrictions and time wasted waiting to get loaded or unloaded it creates this mess. When you are miserable, depressed, angry or eat garbage food it prevents you from thinking correctly and fogs your mind. So you take bad decisions and the most important part is that you remain asleep. But then again its all done on purpose. A lot of things don't make sense in trucking like the RV drivers who do not need a CDL or that CB radios are not mandatory. A CB radio should be considered the same thing as Electronic logging devices if ELDs are for safety. Mind-Boggling stuff.
Wife and I got involved because we were newlyweds who both lost our jobs and were desperate for money. Now 6 years later I can’t think of a job I’d rather do.
He ain't. Those are AC units, they weigh maaaaybe like 3k each. Super light, comes out of our laredo terminal. He's fine just fine on weight. It does look goofy as hell though. If I see a colleague doing dumb shit. I go knock on their door and have em move. Shit ain't acceptable no matter who ya drive for
He also doesn't know how to strap down properly! Those straps were not securing the load! And you don't load all the way back on a spread axle! What a Dumb Ass
Their lack of a good training program is what does them so damn bad. Allowing guys with 3 months experience to become a trainer and NOT putting them at least through a program is just lunacy. Having trainers run like a team as well is just a recipe for disaster. They need to rework their entire hiring system, and evaluation system when hiring on new drivers. They'd have a good driver base if they didn't let so much shit slide. Good news for the industry though, they got strict at least with tarping and securement. Fired close to 200 employees now for bad tarping. Putting guys through the training program again if they catch them with bad load securement too. Too much shit is getting rejected and costing the company too much in rejected freight. Causing them to get off their asses and DO something about it. Hope they turn around soon and have better drivers out there, least on the flatbed side. And they're hurting for trainers apparently. I refuse to be a trainer, only have a year under my belt. Need at LEAST 5 before I'd consider myself worthy to train someone else behind the wheel effectively. Load securement too, I still have questions and there's freight I've never hauled. Need to round myself out before I'd even consider it. If you've gotten this far. Have a good weekend and enjoy your day!
They do. They also hire people that have recently graduated drug consortium requirements. Meaning, previous users while holding a CDL who have tested positive.
FedEx has really let loose on the quality and professionalism bits. Handing them cookie cutter cascadias out to any bonehead from anywhere for the sake of quantity without hardly any liability. Shame on THAT mess.
@truckinfam2207 I'm usually not one to wish someone losing their job especially in todays economy but when a company gets jam packed full of bad apples that drive carelessly, act crazy so on so forth you can only pin the problem a certain way for a solution. I run the same route every night 5 nights a week and I can't tell you how many times these ""contractor"" FedEx guys cut me off too close after passing, swing their trailers into my lane a dozen times in the process, tailgate me, fly past me in construction zones, the list goes on. Absolute insanity.
They actually let me walk into a Buccees and purchase some breakfast in Crossville, Tennessee I was parked at the truck stop across the street and just walked over there like I owned the joint.
Getting to a truckstop late with no hours and having to park like an ahole is part of the game but you have to wake up at like 6am and move your truck into a spot
Liberating of valve cores from their steer tire stems is a reinforcement to park like normal people or waste better than an hour to get the tractor road worthy again.
I drove for Western Express for about 2 months. I had to walk away from all the nonsense I saw during orientation. I’ve been outta trucking for about 5 years and decided to get back in it. I have 30 years of experience in trucking and was told by other companies that I been away for more than 2 years and couldn’t get hired. Tried out Western Express and from day one, I see that this is not going to work!! From the low Orientation pay($400 a week) to the attitude of the Safety Department. The head safety guy bragging about how many drivers he got fired because he works part time at the Pilot a few blocks from Western terminal in Nashville. A unsuspecting driver on his 10 hour break would buy some beer that he would sell to said driver, follow him to his truck, then call the drivers company to report him. Then they team me up with a trainer and that was laughable, he only had 1 year of experience. I’m the one training him I’m happy to say that was mistake that will not be repeated!! 0:06
Funny part is there it is the service provider and contractor that he's working for FedEx ground is going to get ahold of that video and he's going to have his ass canned.
I am 39 years old looking at possibly getting my CDL and go into trucking problem is I am disabled I mean I can drive but when it comes to loading and unloading I am going to have problems. But seeing these people I pray to God I don't wind up like them.
No, the problem with trucking today is these automatic trucks. Anybody can sit there but a seat hold the steering wheel, but it takes skills to shift gears, even with a car it takes skill to shift
Why would a young person out of high school or trade school go into the truck driving industry? The problem is the trucking industry and their partners, the truck stops, are their own worst enemy. I have managed some big operations, but if I am the manager of a large truck stop (company name does not matter) I make money for the large truck stop by getting drivers across the fuel island in record time. More fuel sold, more money! "Cheeze burger and sodee water" has no profit, money is in fuel. Where are you truck stop operators and why do you allow truck drivers to park and get their food and showers while they block the fuel island -- more fuel sold, more money made! As manager of a large truck stop I will gladly pay $150 per hour for a 50 ton wrecker to be on standby to drag (yup drag) a truck off the fuel island and over to a holding pen. Believe me it will not take long for truckers to realize this truck stop means business in getting drivers in and out and on their way. Yeah, but people might say I am being mean, but in this very busy truck stop it will not take long for the "professional" trucking community to figure out this is the place to go because we can "get in and get out without delay ....... and as a result MAKE MONEY". This is a hard business and why should bad behavior drivers and horrible truck stop management practices make it worse. So I end with the question, "Why would a young person out of high school or trade school go into the truck driving industry? Comments welcome. Thanks.
'You must be truckering' is the new watchword. He makes it sound so dirty. I was thinking the same thing about the air lines. Does the driver think no one is going to notice?!
The Great Payne driver is a sad excuse for trucking. You were caught in the wrong, have humility and correct it. Also to wish somebody roll over, you must have a very low self-esteem. Sad we have people in trucking like this. I give props to the field reporter for staying cool and positive during the whole ordeal with profane and derogatory remarks from the driver
