First off awesome work! That said, some tips and information from a Mechanical Engineer: 1. Heat treating is quite easy, and a 1hour read will teach you everything there is to know about annealing, tempering, heat treating and quenching. Its not rocket science. 2. You should look into case-hardening and induction heat treating. Case hardening is very useful and if your weapons were ever put to hard use, it would serve as your best option. It is a process that hardens the outside material while leaving the inside ductile. 3. When tapping threads on your tangs, you should back out every 1/2 to full turn. You need to allow the tapping bit to expel the machined metal. Keep the bit highly lubricated and take your time threading and then backing out, and your bits will last a lot longer. Not to mention, the threads will be cleaner with a better cut and finish. Great work again! Your work is very beautiful

Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing this. When I was 15 (I'm now 60) I made my own hunting knife in my dad's wood/metal shop in the basement, though no comparison, it was from a kit and I certainly didn't forge my own blade nor fabricate the pommel, bolster or guard, but I did quite a bit of shaping and finishing on it. Your skill and craftsmanship are exemplary. I have one question: I don't own any custom knives but I have a few mass produced knives that I would consider lower end of mid-range ($300) but I've been impressed with the balance of the overall knife, right where my index finger addresses the handle, so I was wondering how much thought do you put into that when designing/building a knife? You didn't mention it. Again, thanks for the video and wish I could afford something like that. 😒

40:42 . I have seen a bunch of knife makers on RUclips and they would sometimes do something that bothers the heck out of me . Your patience is something I can't really relate to. While I can do a lot of things around the house I can never be a true artist the way you are. You have a lot of skill, and I think one of your greatest skills is your ability to take it as slowly as needed to achieve perfection. The way you can sand through the finish on the handle and still have a smile on your face knowing you are facing 9 more coats and another round of hand-sanding is yet another testament to your patience.

Really nice work! If you preheat the 2k finish can, it provides a much finer fog and it will prevend the orange peel. I simply use pre-heated water; NOT BOILED! and put the can into the water for about 10 min (refresh the water after 5 min).
Hey Kyle, I’m a knife maker too but I have Parkinson’s and it’s really hard for me to make them anymore. I have a cool idea for you. Make a “Chess board and Chess piece knife.” Could you imagine how beautiful a knife would be if you could make a 1084 and Damascus checker pattern blade and a Chess piece pommel nut!? Love your work and your Dad’s work too✝️
Beautiful work! I just wish you didn't remove moments from the assembly at the end. Was looking forward to hearing the satisfying sounds as the pieces slid into place 🥲
Hi Kyle , that video was truly inspiring Thank You ! At 56 I am just starting my knife making journey and have just about finished equipping the forge - first blade isn’t far away !
Amazing Kyle the skill you have and every step of the process mate I know I don’t know you however you could be a teacher to anyone who wants to learn your craft
Another masterpiece! If you want to try another tool for those lines without relying on a rotating knife, look into "gunpla panel line chisels". Mecha model kit builders sometimes customize it by adding panel lines. But they are very small square tip chisels meant to be dragged along the material to slowly create a groove. Granted those tools are designed for styrene or resin so I am not sure how it would behave in carbon fiber. But they arent expensive tools if you wanted to experiment.
That 2k finish is a great product, I work in auto body and we use it alot for smaller projects. Its the same clear coat that we use for clearing cars, but in a spray can.
i can't find the words to describe how beautiful this knife looks i wouldn't dare to use it in the slightest because i would be afraid of messing up even the tiniest bit of this piece of art

Here’s wishing the Royer family a great Christmas and new year period. May the lord bless you and many thanks for all your wonderful videos.
Regards from Down Under.
This guy doesn’t make knives. He’s making an incredible piece of art.
Car painter here…. Your bubbles are solvent trapping. You applied your coat of clear to early, you need to let the solvent exhaust before recoating… the bubbles are the solvent from the previous coat trying to escape
Instant like, and that "Colonel O'neal" reference just earned yourself a subscription.
The undisputed number one manufacturer ❤️
Your imagination has no limits! Incredible talents by a Master!
this is one of the finest knives I've ever seen, excellent work.
That has got to be the best knife ive ever seen in my life.
I'm coming from a ancient blacksmith family, so i truly understand your work. It is amazing to see how you are becoming more and more skilled. Realy nice job. Most of all I love the fact that you are working with your family. God bless you and your family 👍
Beautiful blade, and with this step by step vid, it should only add to the value of this one of a kind piece! Excellent work!
Beautiful to watch this knife be created. Love that pattern.
Yoo the dedication to drink his coffee is slow motion for the time lapse 😂 15:00
Kyle, you are on another lever! I love this guy.
The video is great and the work is masterful! I love the build-up, information given, and the end product of it all, quite a fantastic job!
Hi Kyle , that video was truly inspiring Thank You ! At 56 I am just starting my knife making journey and have just about finished equipping the forge - first blade isn’t far away !
Awesome, good luck in your journey! May I ask what state you are in?
Amazing Kyle the skill you have and every step of the process mate I know I don’t know you however you could be a teacher to anyone who wants to learn your craft
I love the production style and value on this video. great pacing and commentary
This is may well be the most beautiful knife ever, in all of existence.
Spectacular! Very humble young man! Beautiful job all the way around!
That 2k finish is a great product, I work in auto body and we use it alot for smaller projects. Its the same clear coat that we use for clearing cars, but in a spray can.
i can't find the words to describe how beautiful this knife looks
i wouldn't dare to use it in the slightest because i would be afraid of messing up even the tiniest bit of this piece of art
Dude u are the Da Vinci of bladesmiths.. absolutely beautiful
This might be my favorite piece yet. Bravo Kyle 🎉
Wow !! Very Impressive!!!!! Very meticulous and so patient!!! U are way beyond a master ... U should be teaching masters how to make such gorgeous knives!!! So many other disciplines go into your knives!!!!...
