It's all a defence mechanism, even sarcasm. "leave me alone so I can heal". And, a way to avoid being hurt even more.

Sometimes I think its hard to talk even to people who want to support us coz u want to see that u make others smile,I like making people happy so if I share again something "heavy" it means I'm being difficult again?(that s my thought).....I feel i disappoint others but I guess I'm the one who feels disappointment.
I would say Reach out to someone, it does help talking to the right person...

There is no one I can ask for help from. That’s because the narcissist made it look like we were having an affair - which we weren’t! He spotted me at my mother’s community pool + decided to bully + intimidate me right out of my house, making me leave my husband, my yellow labby, Magenta, + my step granddaughter, who I helped raise for seven years. My husband never even tried to find out what was wrong. Surely he had to read the fear in my eyes. I was crying + in fear + he didn’t see it because he was too busy sitting in his chair, smoking weed. That was his life - he didn’t want to be inconvenienced!! So I had to go to family functions alone. He didn’t see the fear + I knew if I told him the truth he wouldn’t have believed me. So I’m now stuck because I’m upset about my reputation now. I never slept around in my life!

For the longest time i didn't, around the age of late 20s I found a little key of knowledge that i didn't try. I found I began the slightest start of healing when I open up and talked. I was ashamed of it. Now at the age 43 I find it is the number one thing I start doing when I feel an episode of depression coming on. I mean I am all out there vocally about my MDD, GAD ,PTSD...ect,,,.I will not shut up to someone who listens. When someone ask how I am,I tell the truth now....I'm doing good today....or today I am walking through hell. Then you will see with you spirit and soul all the love you get from others, even strangers! So it was hard..but know its allot easier.

Wow! I keep thinking each video is the best, but this really rang a bell with me this morning, particularly depression is "an autoimmune disease of the soul" that's the way it feels a lot. I'm establishing a link with Rob - I send him little bits of poetry that I run across - also song lyrics that really are poetry - also recommended a great book "The Noonday Demon" by author and lifelong depression struggler, Andrew Solomon. He has RUclips videos on line too. It's an amazing book, really, heartfelt, very scholarly, 465 pages getting "to the root" which I am always after. Love, MADGE/NORMA DESMOND (Sunset Boulevard, my "go to" song

It is hard for me the ask for help. I have been depressed all my life. I'm also Lonely and on my own, and my close family don't understand. I think Men find it more difficult to seek help than Women.
I continue living with the pain because I know no different. But would give anything to be free of this burden.

I like the scrabble joke better! "What's the word on the street?" lol! 👍😅
YES. I hate asking for help! Part of my upbringing was my mom saying No one wants to know when you're not doing well, tell them you're OK and go to your room until you're in a better mood." SO hence not sharing, asking for help, and holding it all in until it went toxic and i had a mental breakdown when I was 32. I had been in and out of therapy and support groups before then, but that last one before I applied for disability (which I still don't get after 9 years of trying) was a doosie. I felt like part of me broke and disappeared while all y memories came flooding back that I was repressing for so long. what a mess that was. I'm on the right path now thankfully, but still go back to that need to hide my feelings and ask for help unless I'm DESPERATELY needing it. I guess I would fall under the category of "self sufficient" even though I've been finding out that I'm not because I didn't get better tools to cope with what I was dealing with at the time.
    Brains are weird things.
Thank you for this video, gave me some brain fodder to chew on for a while! 👍🥰✌

I think especially for men it is expected - by our modern society - to solve our problems on our own and not ask for help. It's if asking for support, which means vulnerability and exposure, by a man is considered to be a weakness.
When I'm really down I feel a burden to ask for support from my friends and family, or even MH professionals. So I don't. I have this silly believe that I have to solve my problems on my own. It happened a few times that my best friend asked me afterwards: 'Why did you not call me when you were so depressed? You could have come by and talked about your feelings.' I know he doesn't see it as a burden. But I do.
