- Probably one of the mods I waited the longest to do, but finally pulled the trigger on the MNNTHBX Monkey Tail Classic, which is the full replacement of the OEM tailight and side marker assembly. It's a unique design that I couldn't really picture on the bike from the website pictures for some reason, but I took the plunge and just went for it to see for myself. From the pictures, I thought the plastic mount was a little too unique for my tastes, but also understood that the fender would have holes for mounting the OEM light that would need covered up, and this was the reason for the plastic housing. At the end of the day, I like how it looks on the bike and it really downsizes the rear fender area, which was what I wanted. The install was pretty easy, with the only tricky part being the wiring and tapping into the harness. I would certainly advise anyone ordering this kit to get the posi-taps as you'll need them. This would all have been TONS easier if there was a plug-n-play wiring connector that just plugged into the harness. mnnthbx.com/pr...
Pretty cool. Was saving for a used grom. But since the monkey came out I think I'm going to have so save longer for a new monkey. It reminds me off the ct70 a friend had as a kid. Just brings back lots of memories. Love the channel man.
Thanks for the comment! I also love my Grom, and really use that more as I’m not afraid of beating the hell out of it. The Monkey is definitely cool to ride and a conversation piece, so it depends on what your plans are. Thanks for watching!
Man in the box should seriously make their own perfect custom fit grommet! Cmon guys! Go all the way man!
I appreciated the video as it helped me install mine. However, one gap that some viewers might be asking themselves is about the flasher relays. It wasn't obvious to me but the reason that four are included (two per taillight) is that you have to daisy chain two of them together. If you only connect one you will get rapid blinking. But connecting two of them together solves the problem. Hopefully someone finds this helpful!
Cool, but I’m still a fan of the original one that comes on it.
Hey John, NEED SOME ADVICE/HELP!! I have a question man. So I bought this set up for my monkey. I have the blinkers set up and working. But I can’t figure out how to get the bullet connectors for the running light and taillight hooked up. They are also bullet connectors as you know. But how do I get them to go into the OEM taillight plug?? It’s all OEM taillight plug. Any advice would be AWESOME MAN, and greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Does that plate bracket not have a licence plate light? Or am I just not seeing it. I went with the shortened plate bracket from Yoshimura and it;s very clean looking.
It doesn’t have an integrated light, but I bought the led lighted license plate bolts with it, but didn’t wanna splice into the harness. I sourced the OEM plugs am going to do a plug-n-play harness for the lights.
Where do the flasher resistors go?
Get Blaster-X Intergrated LED Tail light. It is plug and play
this was bought wayyyy before that was a thing
So I’m confused.. do I need to buy the option with the Pozi taps or not? Did you? I’m not good with electrical wiring stuff and I want the easiest solution ..I want to purchase this mod.. what option do i need to buy for my stock Honda monkey 125?
Hey mate, Want to sell me your oem taillight?
John, what did you wire together to get running lights to work? I followed the diagram, got all 3 wires in the OEM plug hooked up so I now have brake lights & turn signals, but no running lights.
I plugged Rizoma greens to OEM blue/orange, but there’s two OEM green wires left over to plug anything to? Do these have to be daisy chained to another wire?
man I don't remember off the top of my head and would have to rewatch the video to try and remember.
What rear shocks do you suggest for street riding for 200+ pound rider?
I like the TB Parts "mystery shocks" for the budget choice, but the MNNTHBX shocks might suit a 220-250lb rider better with the stiffer springs. I have videos on each of them if you search my channel
When are you going to replace the seat with a smaller piece because it's no longer in line with the rest?
Probably never, as I need some comfort! I’ve not heard one good thing other than looks about the aftermarket seats. I also like to take my kids for rides too, and the aftermarket seats out there wouldn’t allow that to happen easily
can i get this in germany too?
Maybe! Contact MNNTHBX at MNNTHBX.com to see if they’ll ship internationally
On the turn signal wires, are you just holding both ends and pulling? Or are you having to press down in a certain area to disconnect?
They’re barrel connectors that just press together, so you pull them apart
Looks good.
Not DOT. At least not out here in CA.
Nothing is legal in California.
I'll admit I didn't like it on the website, seeing changed my mind. Very FN bright.
Thanks Michael, that was my thought exactly as well. I was surprised and glad to see how small it really was
Thanks Ken! It’s a tricky product to show in a pic I feel, and hopefully the video highlights it in a different way for more people looking to get away from the OEM unit
How much have you already spent on that little thing? )
Lol, no idea! More than most, but not as much as some!
Not plug and play, not for me. Informative though.
