My son's dad and I split up when the kiddo was a year and a half. To this day, and our child is now 33, we are still excellent friends. We were hooking up when we were in our 20s and 30s, but now we're in our 50s and we're just still really great friends!
Love that! I think one of the best things for kids is when their parents are good friends, whether they are in a romantic relationship or not
I think the mother's concerns were valid, and I think she handled the situation well. She really thought about how things would affect her child and chose them over her own feelings.

I couldn't agree more, and I was so happy to see this comment. Honesty is best with your children. I'm adopted, and I don't have a single memory of not knowing about it. My parents were always honest about that from the very start, and I even have photos they kept from/and with my original foster parents. I couldn't imagine finding out later in life. They always made it seem that rather than being different, that being adopted made me special, and I'll always appreciate that.

I have a 2yr old I'm in process of adopting... It's kind of a complicated story, but my oldest daughter actually named her before birth, I've taken care of her often since birth, and she was left with me for "a week" 15mo ago and Mom hasn't come back... I talk to both bio parents on occasion, my baby girl only knows me and my husband as Mom and Dad, but I show her pics of her bio parents and tell her as much as I can about them and always plan to! She is part Native also, so I'm doing some research into her tribe to try to incorporate that into her life as well!

As a mom, if I were in that situation I would also have all those worries. I don't even let people watch my baby, because you can't trust anyone with your kid. OP did everything right and was just worried about her baby and his wellbeing. Good on you OP
You never know how a fling will end up! My husband had a 2 week fling (before we met) that resulted in my stepson.
Things went from her not knowing who the father was, to her not wanting to tell him, to him getting custody, to her losing parental rights, and finally to me adopting stepson a year ago.
That and a few other reasons are why flings/one night stands are just dumb!
I understand the mother's concerns, but the father has the Right to know. A court isn't gonna steal a kid and give them to a stranger just because he's the dad.

The mother's comcerns were totally valid. However I think knowing the dad hold importance also bcs of his cultural background, she mentioned that the baby ks half asian and since society will see him as an asian it's also good to prepare and teach him his culture

One thing OP could do is approach the guy, preferably privately, and just candidly say look I got pregnant from our one night stand. I didn't think I'd ever meet you again, but since I did I want you to know.
Then follow it up by giving them two options. They can come to an agreement about custody and child support as is usually expected of people.
Or as an alternative they can go on their separate ways, and pretend this never happened. She can afford to take care of the kid on her own, she won't ever bad mouth him to the kid if they ask one day, but the guy won't have any legal / financial responsibility unless they one day decide they want to be involved. All OP asks is that if they want to be involved they be respectful about it and let them know so they can work out something together. She can provide him with her contact info so that he can contact her if he changes his mind. I'd give a phone number and an email just to increase the chance that he'd have an easy time contacting her if he wants to.
She made the exact right decision to be cautious. Weve seen on the news time and again that women in estblished relationships can be abused and have their kids taken or have their lives taken by men. And those are men theyve known and been with for years. Anyone calling her horrible simply doesnt have the capacity to understand hiw awful men can really be.

I wouldn't find the father. There are too many men's rights lawyers and manosphere proselytes suing women for "parental alienation" and then abusing/unaliving children. If it were me, I'd print up some articles on this terrible trend and show them to my adult son when he turned 18 with contact info from the friend.

I actually had 2 close friends growing up and the parents were exclusive friends with benefits (not together like poly or smthng the two girls and their families didnt kmow eachother) but they were adamant about the fact they were not in a relationship. They lived separately even. It was funny because there were a couple nights I was at my one friend amys house (she lived full time with her dad and went to her moms whenever) And her mom would order a pizza for us from whatever bar she was at and then call and say "I'm going home with your dad tonight. Dinners on the way, you girls make sure you stay inside after the pizza comes."

If you have consensual hookup with some stranger and you end up pregnant, decide to keep the baby, have the option to find random dude, you should 100% tell them about the child. Anything after that is meant for after that, what is important is that he is also aware of the fact that he is a father and should walk accordingly.

First story… I would personally tell the guy he has a child… I grew up without my dad… my mother lied to me for 25 years about who he was… I now have no relationship with my mother for lying for so long and no relationship with my father because ‘too much time has passed’ so I now resent my mother for not telling me sooner and resent my father for not even bothering…

Typically, I would *HATE* someone like OP in the first story, keeping a song away from his father and vice versa, but she explained herself pretty well tbh and was very articulate. She also seems like a very, “my baby, my baby” kinda parent and by that I mean *EVERYTHING* she’s saying or doing is done through the lens of, “idc about me, I care about my baby.” And frankly, you don’t know who you hook up with sometimes, you don’t that person. There’s a *_HUGE_* difference between a one night stand and being tied to someone for 18 years and could potentially be total shit as a parent. There are a lot of women out there who keep kids away from fathers to hurt the father, she definitely doesn’t seem like it, but ultimately I do disagree in some regards, the man has a right to know about his kid. First story I think the dad and son has the right to know who eachother are.
I have a auntie grandmother and her son is my uncle cousin. My mom's mom left us and disowned us so my aunt pretty much was my mom's only motherly figure. So I have an aunt grandma and a uncle cousin. And on my mom's dad's side I have an aunt I'm older than. My grandpa's gf is a little bit young still in her 50s and she had a kid before meeting my grandpa and so now I have a aunt younger than me by 3 years
