Lyrics:
Sing me a song, you're a singer
Do me a wrong, you're a bringer of evil
The Devil is never a maker
The less that you give, you're a taker
So it's on and on and on, it's Heaven and Hell, oh well
The lover of life's not a sinner
The ending is just a beginner
The closer you get to the meaning
the sooner you'll know that you're dreaming
So it's on and on and on, oh it's on and on and on
It goes on and on and on, Heaven and Hell
I can tell, fool, fool!
Well if it seems to be real, it's illusion
For every moment of truth, there's confusion in life
Love can be seen as the answer,
but nobody bleeds for the dancer
And it's on and on, on and on and on....
They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of Kings and Queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
It's Heaven and Hell, oh well
And they'll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls
It's Heaven and Hell, oh no!
Fool, fool!
You've got to bleed for the dancer!
Fool, fool!
Look for the answer!
Fool, fool, fool!

This fucking song is in the top 3 of most well written songs ever! Music, Melody, Tempo, Vision, Imagery, Lyrics, and what's often so overlooked in music; the well placed open/empty spaces left for the listeners' imagination. This song is alive and breathing! Truly a timeless work of art!

The lyrics are just as true today as they were 40 years ago, or 4000 years ago
"The world is full of Kings and Queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
And they'll tell you black is really white
The moon is just the sun at night
And when you walk in golden halls
You get to keep the gold that falls"
And some people's proposed heaven is really hell. I'm not referring to Christians or religious people, I'm talking about that international conference held a few weeks ago in Switzerland.
And to quote Kate Bush; "some say that heaven is hell, some say that hell is heaven."
If life is what you make it, what comes after (or not) probably is too.
The golden halls part is probably about Dio not get his royalties from Rainbow!
The lyrics are largely Occult related. Especially the part about the Moon being the Sun at night.
@@andreyfendich I have to disagree with that. I think it's more about our supposed leaders pulling the wool over our eyes. It's not occult related unless of course you are referring to cult 45 aka grift45.

“The less that you give, you’re a taker” this line...
So true. Lot of friends like that. Take all and give nothing back.
I don't get exact meaning of it. Can someone please elaborate?
@@imaansharifi I think he's saying our life is collective, essentially we need one another, even if you think you can live well by yourself you are wrong.
Imagine, I hope this never happens of course, one day you will suffer a stroke. If you are left with sequels from it, you won't be able to live life without the help from others, even if you were the most independent person that had ever existed before that. You might need help even to clean yourself.
And therefore, others need to give something to you. Imagine they see you there as someone who needs help to do basic tasks and they don't offer help...in a way they are taking something from you, knowing that they can help you live your life better and not doing so.
I think it applies to many situations (just think about the basic concept of capitalism and how it stands on social inequality), but the main idea is that we can always do something to improve the collective life, and we must take a stand to do it.

You've got to bleed for the dancer.
Love can be seen as the answer, but nobody bleeds for the dancer.
Amazing.
I think the order in which the lyrics are sung in the song emphasizes the point so well. Yes, no one bleeds for the dancer. But then Dio implores that you HAVE to do just that. Love is the only answer that can break the cycle
I've never understood what he means by but nobody bleeds for the dancer. Heaven and Hell. Love or fear man. Such a good song.
@@tyronehafen6620 I think he wants us to question what is love. RIP
first metal album I owned, on cassette. Swapped a cassette at school with some kid. Must have been 1981. I may be getting old but the music still sounds young to me
In 1980 I was a senior. In those days kids brought new albums to school to show friends and give reviews. I went to a catholic school and teachers were priests and nuns. I remember starting one class when the teacher held up this album, confiscated from some kid I assume, and announced that we Christians should avoid it. He was offended by smoking angels and praising hell in the lyrics. I remember looking at it and it made me more curious. I bought it that weekend to find out for myself. I still have that album and have loved it ever since. I was no tough ass, fight against society punk, but I made my own decisions. I got a great education and the catholic school prepared me for the success I have enjoyed my whole life, but to this day I never agreed with that teacher. Think for yourself.
Their message is overall focused upon good, God direction and against the bad, Devil himself. People do all sorts of evil in this world, hiding it in religion, they were just hard core along their sound and that is what was rejected. Sabbath is actually pro God and anti Devil bottom line!
I agree. God gave you a brain--use it!
Matt Beeman I never saw any of that because my friend it was very rare. Listen the Catholic Church is the biggest organized religion in America and there are countless schools with endless priest. Only a handful were molesters over the years but those are all we hear about. There are doctors who rape and politicians as well. Dirty cops and firemen that set fires. When you have a large enough group of people there’s a chance you get a sicko. The guilty ones should be stored in a box underground but the truth is most do so much for so many.
@Matt Beeman im a muslim and it would be very very stupid and highly misleading to refer all priests as child molesters. A very little minority of perverts are everywhere but to stereotype everyone is just stupid
Well, let's just say views of social orders differentiate or open minded in decades;other than pedifile priests;which should have been prosecuted to the LAW and not be hidden by congregations' and sent elsewhere or kept quiet .for me this song is about Right and Wrong interpretation of your individual self and the world surrounding You.U choose to be yourself.
