    *Afterthoughts & Addenda*
*Anomalous Voice* - some people mentioned hearing a voice at around the 11:42 mark, saying 'Where are you going?' - I initially thought this was a mixing error in the edit, but I checked the raw footage and it's there. We did pass a number of hikers travelling in the opposite direction, along that stretch of the path, so I expect this was someone chatting to Jenny while I was talking to the camera about sloes.

I cannot stress enough that simply getting OUT is vital to maintaining any kind of mental/emotional stability. Doesn't have to be a long bushcraft adventure, even a short hike or just finding a relaxing spot and sitting in the sun for a bit is enough. Seeing/hearing/smelling nature, the breeze on your face and the sun slanting thru the trees is like a calming balm for the soul.
I enjoy all your videos, but the rambles thru the countryside are special, you Jenny and of course Eva just getting out and enjoying the world around you. Thanks for sharing moments like this Mike, I no longer live near the ocean and while I love my mountains, it's good to be able to vicariously enjoy the sea with you.

    Hi
Thank you for your content and this video in particular.
My aunt passed away yesterday and we used to take walks in the forest together when I was a kid and she would show me all the plants and birds.
This video helped a bit with the pain, and I am grateful.
    Thank you

I love to just sit and listen to the waves doing their thing, so peaceful.
Your picnic is just perfect for the beach.
As a child I remember my oldest sister taking me to western supermare and the tide was out- very disappointing so I didn’t let that stop me from dipping my toes, I walked what felt like miles to get to the sea and I was covered way up my thighs will black sludgy stinky something- my sister was extremely unimpressed with my little jaunt- a wonderful childhood memories of those simple holidays.

Your poking about in the barn (05:39) reminded me of the Time Team episode in which they excavated in vain searching for a medieval wall, only to discover it incorporated in the basement wall of a public canteen area. As you pointed out, Mr. Shrimp, that pathway has served generations over the millennia...once upon a time there was a cottage, a barn, a shelter...

I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos from your holiday in Devon. The area around Brixham holds a special place for me having had many family holidays there when I was a child. Even now in my 40’s I try to visit the coast between Brixham and Kingswere when I am in Devon. Man Sands and Scabbacombe Sands (the next bay along) are particular favourites. As well as Sea Beet, Rock Samphire can be foraged on Man Sands. On summer evenings, the air in the lane heading to the beach is filled with the sent of Honeysuckles that grow in the hedges either side. In the spring, the banks that line the edges of Penhill Lane are covered in Ramsons.
If you are in the area again, I can recommend a visit to Coleton Fishacre, assuming you have not already been. All the best and thank you for the videos.

Lovely looking stew! One little tip I can give regarding the strainer situation, while it might be a bit tricky without something to really hold it in, a paper towel makes for a good substitute for letting you strain a stock so you can keep all the grit and residue out of it.

Yesterday's unboxing of the ceramic glass frypan is tempting me to source one for our kitchen. The one you're using here (25 minutes in) has a teflon coating, not something I'm timid of normally but I have birds and using teflon on heat is a hard no-no with them.

these ceramic hobs remind me of the older range style cooker hobs, it feels more natural to place a pan down on a flat surface than a grill type grid you get on gas hobs,
you do have to get used to them and if you go from gas to ceramic you will burn the food bigtime, but once you get used to them they are in my opinion at least, a superior technology

Pen in place names as far as I'm aware means more like 'head'. Of course in the context of a hill, it probably means head of the hill. Pen is also the Welsh word for head. Knowledge is power!
