This man has a GOD Blessed voice. My Brother Alex was barely even trying and the vocals that flew from his mouth were impeccable. Not one male vocalist could step to him. Not your Luther, Peabo, Teddy or Freddie (incredible vocalists in their own right.) Not one. Thank GOD there's only one Alexander O'Neal. A true GOD gifted singer.

He started getting warmed up at 2:22...awesome work! Alex was not considered to have the "right look", which initially hurt his career and pushed the drug addiction further. However, his skill level was to extraordinary to leave him in the dumps, and since he was given a chance we were blessed to receive his great voice! No matter what the defamers say, you're a legend in my book Alex! By the way Alex, did I mention you jammed this live session!!

I'm a BIG fan of Alexander O'Neal. His voice was incomparable in his prime. But there is NO DENYING that long, sustained drug use has taken its toll. His "voice" is still good, but his timing and presentation is lacking. Aging can be blamed for part of it. But I believe drug use caused the majority of it. Even with his diminished talent, he's still better than most contemporary pop singers today

I was a Teenager Lady, during the 1980s. I live in America and Mr. Alexander was doing well with his Music. He had hits after hits over here in America.
Never saw this performance. Opposed to the many negative comments on this video, I think the number was sung well. Why do so many people state that he is high or too dark? I don' t see it and I watched it 2 times now. If I would be standing so close to the audience with that much light, I too would be wearing shades. I don't see any weird behavior in his clip. Maybe he was a bit shy back then and even if he would have been on something, then maybe it was to be less nervous, I don't see it dough. Always have loved this man's voice and still do. Sweet sweater too 🤩 those colors are totally back in style! 😄 I don't understand why people are dissing him like this, there's nothing wrong with the way he looks or sings. Alexander O'Neal is an amazing singer. This is not one of his greatest performances. He completely blew off the second verse. This was during the time of his drug use so I understand. When he was on back in the day, he was on! Thank goodness he is clean now and has had a great career initially in the states and then overseas. Not many of his contemporaries of the mid to late 80's can say the same. I would love to see a Flyte Tyme reunion. Us old school people know what I'm talking about.
