    Hello dearest,
    You reminded me of the car track I used to play with when I was a kid.
    It's remarkably similar to this one.
    But very simple; the track described a simple two-way "eight" that could be driven by 2 race cars.
    By the way, you know that I live in Monza, near Milan, where the Formula 1 Grand Prix races take place in September on a famous circuit that I think you know.
    But I never went there...
    Bye.
    Your friend,
    Luca.

      Thanks Luca. Monza - such a classic circuit. The banking on my circuit was sort of inspired by the old Monza banking :)

    Looks like you're building in lots of scope for fun. Don't forget that you may need access to that radiator sometime. Best wishes.

      Thank you. Yes, good point! Hopefully the table is far enough from the heat.

    Very nice set up you have there. Not sure if you addressed it or not but adding background pictures/terrain on the walls behind the track might add to the overall effects. Looking forward to seeing you work on this.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  4 месяца назад

      Thanks. I've ordered some polypropelene sheet to go around the edge and act as a final barrier to cars leaving the table. I'll experiment with some backdrop images on it I think.

    I would definitely recommend a lap counter, if you haven't got one already. I guess it's important to have the most interesting circuit first. Scenery can come later. Keep up the good work!

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks. I do have a physical lap counter but it makes a lot of noise as the cars pass through it. So I removed it and will be using a phone app instead. It's called LapTrax and detects the cars passing by based on motion and/or colour. I'll design a small gantry to support the phone above the track :) The app does lap times too :)

      Awesome! Are you using a program like Ultimate Racer to plan your layout? I found it really helpful.

    That looks like the start of a fantastic set up. I look forward to seeing it to completion. One question: Are both lanes equal(ish) in length? I ask as I don't see a crossover.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you. They're fairly equal in length, although to be honest the shorter lane is a little slower so that also compensates a bit.

    Wow, that is quite an undertaking you have ahead of you! All in all I like all of your suggestions, and I think they will look amazing if executed with patience and passion (knowing you that should not be a problem, won't it? 🙂). To help you not to mess up any vital part of the basic build, you might watch Luke Towan as he builds his own railroad layout from scratch - you might glean some useful tips or tricks of the trade from him (just a suggestion, I'm not implying you don't know what you are doing!).

    • @ModelNerd

      Thanks - and thank you for the suggestion. I've watched Luke for a long time, but it will probably be worth going back at looking at some of his older videos again :)

    I'm really loving your set-up mate! 👌 To be honest i didn't envisage the track looking this good, as its quite difficult to squeeze a decent run into an awkward space and still maintain good running cars.
    You've got a lovely mix of curves and straights, and will be so much fun to run.
    Also loving your plan for the scenery and accessories and my favourite thing, the lighting! Can't wait to see this progress, even though I'm so excited about the Manchester and the York and also the M3 and The Prince of Wales too! Some really exciting stuff you've got going on, thanks for posting.
    Take it easy mate.
    Happy modelling 👍👊
