She’s also plays bass for the band on a lot of tunes. There’s a live of them doing “Heal It Up” that’s worth a listen. “God Is A Bullet”, “Joey”, “Still In Hollywood”, and their cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Everybody Knows” are all worth a listen, too.
Great choice video for the reaction - big ups dude...Johnette Napolitano always delivers and had one of the most under-rated vocals to come out of the mid 80s - mid 90s...She could certainly put away a lot of the more favoured female vocalists around.
Concrete Blonde and Johnette. I hope the world looks back on this woman's songwriting for years to come and recognises the talent. With James on the guitar, their sound recognisable to any fan. For early Blonde I get a kick out of 'Still In Hollywood'.
Mexican Moon was a great album as a whole - not just "I Call It Love", but glad there is another fan here besides me. Thought I may be alone on this one 😌😌 I like "Everybody Knows", "God Is A Bullet" and "Heal It Up" and obviously "Joey", amongst many others. Think I put Johnette's vocals up among the best of all time - shame she is so virtually unknown 🙄
Have always loved this group. Really hope you'll do reactions to their songs 'Bloodletting', 'I Don't Need a Hero' and 'Joey'. She has a fantastic and unique voice.
Help Me is a great song. So is Run Run Run. Hell, all their stuff is great. She is my favorite songwriter on the planet. She writes a lot about unrequited love and worshiping people from afar, which is weird. Because, when I met her, I told her that I always avoided meeting my idols, but had to meet her. She responded by scolding me for idolizing anyone. Lol. So, even though she's very nice, she's also, apparently, a hypocrite. Another interesting fact is that Dave had a crush on her. I have no idea what he whispered to her, but I know why she asked if she could bring the band. Every appearance they made on this show, he said or did something to make her visibly uncomfortable. You'll notice she didn't seem to keen on him getting that close. On another occasion, he introduced her as his wife.
Love them. Johnette is such and underrated singer. my favorite Lyricist of all time. check out God Is a Bullet. I actually covered their song Darkening of the Light on my channel
Just enough guitar. That little guitar run while she dances is fuckin killer. Nothing spectacular just the right choice of sweet notes. James Mankey was no joke very much over looked. Glad they were overlooked from a fan stand point because they had to keep pushing. Great band.
If you haven't heard it, I'd love to see your reaction to this live version of Concrete Blonde's rendition of 'The Ship Song', featuring Nick Cave: m.ruclips.net/video/mnJb6vCOo_I/видео.html
Their live version of Everybody Knows. That is all.
Arguably the best live performance on the tube.

She's the lead singer.....

Indeed, agree completely. Johnette has one of the best female voices of all time in my opinion.

One of the most underappreciated of all rock artists.
As a fan, everything she does is amazing 😂
I call it Love is one of my favourites song of this group.

And the voices in your ear are telling you so much…..
You gotta listen to Jenny I read. That's a song worth listening to. Your reaction will be worth it.

Haven't heared them since forever, but "Joey" is the song i directly remember.
@@beldin2987 Joey is timeless. Beautiful and universal lyrics and theme.
Love this ! Please react to her cover of everybody knows or heal it up
I wonder what hidden gems will come next from that period, like maybe
Witness, Saraya, Face to Face, All about Eve, In Tua Nua ..
So much great stuff from them. God Is A Bullet should be the next stop.

Morrisette thing, j was doing this while alanis was still learning to crawl!
Every single song this woman has ever sang is hot hot hot. Try Mexican Moon. RAIN! Waking in London.
All their schtuff is amazing
No, Alanis Morrisette had a Johnette Thing going on.
Grew up on that, nice to see a reaction to some of these sorta underground or not so popular bands
their catalog is deep bro
More Concrete Blonde!!!!
Johnette Napolitano also has awesome solo stuff.
Concrete Blonde was named Dream 6 at first.
Listen to Concrete blonde greatest hit ,,Joey''.
I love how she wears a white political t shirt...old blue geans....and in her sock feet....lov it....WHAT A WOMAN!!...🔥

I really like this song, but this is not top tier Concrete Blonde.. I think her vocals really shine on Heal It Up
@@paulf2557 subscribed then 😉
Glad you liked it. A top talent band getting lost in time.
You HAVE to listen to their rendition of Riders in the Sky. It's better live but still amazing
1986. Little band from LA. Altered the definition of Artist. The voice. It isn't meant to be polished: just human.
Joey by Concrete Blonde is the one

I promise you'll be blown right out of your socks!
You have to play these 2 songs Joey and Caroline
