Really cool watching the magic unfold! 😺
Monstercat omg is that you?
Nice
"A good sample is a good sample. I don't think any producer should ever feel bad about using samples because I believe that the idea and the concept of a song belongs to you." Amen to that. Making music never should be about elitism or about "I only use organically grown, gluten free sounds that I painstakingly programmed myself during a spiritual DMT breakthrough phase last winter." Making music should always be about making good music that you and the people you make it for like. If someone offers an amazing sample, I will use that as long as it makes my song better. There is no shame in that. It's a collaboration between artists. A nod of respect towards whoever created that sound that pushed my song into the "Alright LET'S GO!" territory.
Yes! Use whatever sounds good to you. No matter what it is. There are all those "EDM/Producer Elitists" that think if you didn't make every single sound from scratch, your song is bad. But damn, those people have no idea how music works. They're on top of Mt. Stupid from the Dunning-Kruger Effect.
Ethically grass fed synths yo
You are pretty much unable to move during a DMT breakthrough, just sayin xD I don't care if other people use Samples, but I personally just wanna know what's going on in my sounds, just because that's what my nerdy self is interested in. But do whatever floats your boat, really. Everyone has his own musical area where he excells in, so it only makes sense to push yourself in that area.
love this
Its like did Mozart create the chords of the universe? No he learned them and arranged them into a manner he thought sounded good, thats music
I respect gammer for telling the truth about his sound design and sampling process on this track, You dont have to reinvent the wheel everytime you make a track. The most important part of the track is that it's YOUR idea. That's all that matters in the end.
killstrum amen
As long as the song isn't all loops it's fine.
every new producer ever that hashtags #bigthingscoming and other generic crap to their IG and twitter... with a video showing nothing but looped samples, no midi whatsoever and every layer has no kind of work to it done other than the placement of sample haha
there are no rules in music production lol, nothing matters at all.
Yeet.
DADDY
skrt
Need some more of these happy hardcore videos Ravine!!
This is my preferred way to learn production. I love watching artists break down their tracks, mixing tricks, etc. piece by piece. Please make more content like this!
And he didn't know him either
The track is certainly banging, definitely not my favorite sort of thing. What impresses me about this video is how honest this producer is. He’s not hiding behind a bunch of tired one liner… “You got to use just a little compression, and then you don’t even really have to use compression.... I use a certain plug-in yada yada yada… That I’m not gonna show you because I’m a rich douche” this guy shows everything he uses and everything he thought about using. Producers should take note of this guys attitude.
For some cases yes when youre using samples from professional packs some come compressed already so you dont need more compression but what if your samples just weak or unprocessed then compressions beneficial
i really want to see more of these, specifically more of them for monstercat tunes
Exactly. We need one on Tristam and another one on Slushii
It's interesting to see an artist that mainly makes music in a genre that focuses on the vibe of the song in a very sound design based genre
Porter being a big inspiration for Gammer here is AMAZING to hear!
Bring back Dougal and Gammer albums.
Gammer, you're a sick producer. Total respect and great tutorial. Love the drop track, keep em coming
He said something that stood out to me and that was basically don't be ashamed of the tools or sounds you are given because at the end of the day, the skill is in making those tools and sounds become something great. Anyone can download presets (like Gammer has lol) but actually using them and making a good song is something totally different.
Before watching this vid, I thought the production behind this song was very complicated. Similar to a VR song that has like +60 tracks inside of it. Only to watch this vid and see at most it has maybe 20. This is amazing.
This is cool I love when they breakdown songs like this and this is one of my fav Hype tracks! If this drop doesn’t hype you up... just go to sleep then. You not even alive
Awesome tut Gammer! This was great
Great deconstruct of the track. Gamer just laid it all out. You could tell as simple as this track is, he knows his shit. I really enjoyed this. Thank you!
Gamer
Q
Wait, he used Virtual Riot's kick?! Hory Shiterrr!!!
seems like he basically used only samples and virtual riot presets. idk if i should be disappointed or excited to learn one of the beset producers out there uses presets like me lmao
what a splendid idea to glue the usb hub on the back of the macbook 😁😁😁🔈
I'M LITERALLY JUST HERE FOR THE DONK VIDEO
GiGi Alien I can't find it.
GiGi Alien please we need the donk
actually cymatics has great sample packs. You can't resist using them if you have one. Totally respect them for being authentic
Amazing! This is by bar one of the best track breakdowns on RUclips. Please make this a series 🙏🙏🙏
Digging the interviewer on this too, he seems just as hype as Gammer about this tutorial
Big thanks to point blank and gammer for sharing the knowledge 💯👍🏻
Nice to see Ravine still kicking about, both of them are cool guys. Thanks for the in depth video! :)
4:50 such a true thing, I always think of trying my best to use less samples for drops or leads, but yeah turns out there’s always one or the other part I use samples, thank you Gammer!!!
Watched this dude on Ultra Melbourne 2019 just before Covid hit us and his set was my favourite
29:37 into this and I thought he said this track was really simple, there's loads going on
Saint Nicholas In the mind of a producer this is simple. As an Ableton user I understand a lot of what Gammer is talking about
Saint Nicholas Multiple tracks today contain multiple layers of sound. Virtual Riot for example, can have over 100 layers (or “tracks”) to a completed song.
Saint Nicholas More layers of sounds = richer sound, better sounding track, etc etc
Saint Nicholas from a standpoint of sound design it's very simple but it works and I love all the sampling and how open he is about using them then post processing. Great tutorial and again it's simple from a producer's standpoint but I can see how it might look complicated. I want more of these process vids haha
Gammer, i love you
one of the most helpful masterclasses I've ever seen, this really matches my production style
Lol the sprinkle graphics! I’ve never seen pointblank do something so out right silly. I think ah, i think ah, i think i like it like it like it like it! Yeah!
This RUclips channel now belongs to me
THE DROP is the Dark Souls of music confirmed
what a banger....it just hits you in the ear and its so good!
First time I heard "the drop" was on diplo and friends ft Kayzo , kayzo played it first I believe. He played pendulum - the island vocals than it was gammer-the drop. I was mind blown knew this track was going to be an instant hit!
"He's just.. Fascinating..." - Gammer (on Porter Robinson)
I'm surprised that you both totally butchered Ekali's name lmfao.
Kevin Corpus Idk how to even say his name, and I’ve been in the scene for almost half of my life and seen/met him recently. Even ppl around me dont know how to say his name.
haha it's pronounced "Eh-Cali" (like California)
MikSIK. I'd love to meet ekali!
ECK-er-LEE
I've been heavy into electronic music since the mid 90s and hardcore is the one sub genre that I could just never really get into.
It's cool to see its influence in brostep production though!
2:40 I find that funny because before I start a 9-hour long playlist I have I ALWAYS play this song first.
Even prior to hearing this. This song works perfectly as an intro.
This the best Point Blank interview/tutorial or what ever it is.....
this track has many Nero influences, even tho he doesn't mention. The strings for sure have Nero all over them
Totally reminded me of "Prodigy - Out of space" beginning at 25:30 :D
I just wanna say thank you for making these videos!
mantap soul dj gammer, this is panutan aku.
Frian Wisuda gammer merupakan salah satu producer berbakat tetapi saya lebih suka excision untuk lagu dubstep/brostep
Video from Gammer's edc set brought me back. So lucky I got to be there

As someone who's followed you for a very long time, this is a beautiful progression!
The best part of DJ Snakes set (sorry) was The Drop and Visual FX.

What was the name of the sample pack for drums? 5:41
It's from ekali's second drum kit
He needs to release his Zombie flip ASAP
Omg it's Neville Longbottom, awesome track! I've just discovered him!
How did he click towards the end of a midi note at 10:00 and it kept playing in time? Usually you have to start it from the beginning for midi to play?
It was an update added to Ableton 10
Damn, I was thinking that was the case.
Look for your midi chase settings in preferences
Architect Music not in ableton 9 it was an update in live 10
Is that DJ Ravine? What is he doing there?
i was thinking the same, my dude.
I work here my dudes
omfg
I like Darren style remix of Drop from Gammer
Im glad he owns the fact that he used Cymatics and vengeance samples. I don't use them though lol.
Dooooope!
21:08
Absolute lad
We need the Sunglasses at 14:01 :D awesome tut!
"DJ Gammer from Monstercat" hurt his soul a little bit
and now there are a bunch of remixes for the song
Does gammer still do tutorial sessions lol he’s quality. I remember when he used to hammer tracks out on AWsum with Andy Whitby
Interesting stuff
First time I have heard this song, I have thought about "hey, is this sound from the legend of zelda"?
legend
What about the master chain?????
Akuro Dance Master 3
That wasn't on his master

Nice editing 👍
TWR officially dead :(
Nope why yeah that made me super sad :(
corilew26 Together We Rise, label he used to run
I loved that label.
Nope more like extinct bruh
damn,I tried to remake this drop sound with massive, and now u told me that sound was made of samples ⊙皿⊙!?
no just a bunch of virtual riot presets lmao
“Porter Bell” - well at least we know for sure who it was inspired by now 😂
Gammer is a don
Ravine!
where can i find the "Okay" sample, sounds so cool
where do I get porterbell and zeldavox please
porterbell you can find in FL's basic midi package and zeldavox is one of the instruments in the ocarina of time soundfont
Porter bell can be found in the Roland gm soundset inside FL studio LSD plug in. It's the exact one he uses in sad machine 👍
Sorry for my english, but about what his favourite game he said in 3:53?
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
