  • In the 1950's and 1960's, Sears sold irrigation equipment and complete systems under their home products brand, Homart. For the residential and agricultural markets, Sears would partner with local contractors to handle the design and installation of your system.
The sprinkler in this video is Homart's Spray Champ flush mount lawn sprinkler. This style was very common in the early days of residential irrigation, and many can still be found in yards around the country. I believe the example I have is new old stock. it does not appear to have ever been installed. As such, it looks good and functions very well. In the video, I'm running it at 24 psi and I would guess it is putting out around 4 gallons per minute.
I hope you enjoy the video, and thanks for watching!

A beautiful story. And out of laziness, I won't tell you what exciting spray nozzles we Germans had. Yes, well - they were only retractable when Heinrich Perrot took care of the nozzles. The German Tuesday nozzle is sure to come.

We await it with growing anticipation.
We and John A. Brooks retracting them before 1920, and others in the 1920’s, but the type that don’t retract were much more common.

Very nice flush mount sprinkler. Sears had everything back in the day. Crazy how prices have changed, a water heater was $59.00, a house for just under $2000. Now the price for a 40 gal gas water heater here is $1200.00

Yes! There are neighborhoods around here where you can find groupings of the houses they sold. They get quite a bit more than $2000 for them.

So when are you going to write an illustrated/graphic book on sprinklers, the people and companies behind them?

Ha. We might be better off using a real historian.
