I don’t think we are truly grasping how magnetic JJ overall aura is for ESPN, he will be the next face of ESPN
hmm idk I think he'd probably rather continue building his own empire than jump into ESPN, but it is cool to see him feature on stuff like this. We need more ppl like JJ in the NBA Media world
I love JJ since high school ESPECIALLY college one of my fave players in college I try to hate, but face of ESPN as much as I hate SAS I don’t see anyone taking that spot for him at least within the next 2 years
I see Smith in the way I saw Vitale in the not-at-the-end but late career, where you could tell he was leaning heavily on catch phrases and persona.
It's good to have NBA guys come in and just be solid, knowledgeable, experienced voices. I'm also thinking about Perk right now, who everyone also loves to watch.
And this is free money for these guys, because you can imagine them having these same conversations in locker rooms or bars. They breathe this game.
Highly doubt it. It's too restrictive, he like most prefers more freedom
I have to agree. I haven't really listened to much of him at all but he sounds intelligent, professional, and a bit down to earth.
Love this! You can see how JJ is a basketball mind and very detail-oriented. Most of his shots, even with great difficulty, is expected to go in. Those highlights show his discipline and body of work. Huge respect for JJ.
People forget how good JJ was. On 2k I actively traded for him cause I set up my teams with 3 and D guys and he’s one of the dudes I always wanted on my team.
0 err eww
I did the same thing bro. Dynasty mode it was like 2k9 I think I’d always get him or Jr. smith he was a beast on that game
5:58: JJ - "I'm not allowed to cuss on this of course"
14:35: JJ - "I'm not gonna be this f***in headcase"
XD
Criminally underrated. JJ is a 🐐. If you’re a Duke fan…. Scratch that… Just a fan of the skill set…. this man was a specialist.
Naww …. He’s a cool man tho
Everyone a goat nowadays lol
@@daboyy6537 everybody likes to ignore context these days 🫠 clearly I’m talking about a Duke goat. Clearly.
When he’s talking about crossing lebron got me dead 😂😂 “I just use the little hesitation, ehhhh”
😂😂😂 facts
Let’s go! Thank you for the support!
Good video man..JJ is a phenomenal shooter..
This was good you should’ve asked about his dunk too though
Great interview bro!
Awesome vid!!
Take the shades off assclown no one cares who you are.
JJ Reddick & Reggie Bush we're the most famous college players of my childhood.
same
@Jake Bake Wow really? Tebow is a great addition to the debate. All due respect but Vince played parallel to Reggie and that whole Texas run went totally under the radar until they took down USC because USC was one of the most famous college teams ever. The most famous I can remember from shear celebrity status.
@Jake Bake college wise Tebow was definitely up there but I don't really think Vince Young was quite to that level. I'd argue and say Matt Leinart was more popular than him despite the outcome
@Jake Bake That's true after the Rose Bowl. I guess I'm thinking for Reggie & JJ, their rides captured the nation's consciousness that only really Tebow, Cam, Zion, Johnny, and a few others have come close to replicating.
JJ is an amazing basketball mind in today’s game. Would love to see him get a chance at coaching.
Would be a great player development coach.
The first coach ever to have a podcast 😂😂😂
what do you think of his new mind the game pod?
Love seeing a long-length video on JJ, highlighting the underrated moments in his career. Of course Omar is the one to finally make it happen! I’d love to see a Tmac one!
He watched a few possessions of the highlights and knew exactly what game it was from. His recall is amazing.
the shows/podcasts are prepped in advance if not there would be a lot of dead air as the guest would try to recall that moment...being prepared takes away the silence... was not a JJ Reddick fan in college but I do admire his work ethic and game
I am hard pressed to think of an athlete who I went from despising to liking more that JJ. His podcast and his ESPN work made me realize he is a solid dude. He gives great insight in to basketball, is funny and self deprecating and just gets good conversations. The Old Man and The Three is must listen.
JJs memory is so good no one ever mentions that
I believe that kids that want to be specialist shooters gotta study JJs game a lot. His movement off the screen, without the ball and his pace is just amazing.
Interviews like this are the future that I hope espn pursues. Enough personality and pop culture stuff for the youth but still rooted in incredible sports knowledge and insight.
Philly loves you JJ
It's crazy that we still feel it!
Loved this guy since I was in Jr high and he was a youngster at duke, only reason I'm a Duke fan right now. One of my All-Time favorite players. Kobe, Nash, Rodman, JJ, Pierce. Hope he's a Star in his media stuff and whatever he does after basketball.
JJ Redick can talk that game man so interesting and informative conversations. Gotta say his podcast and when hes on first take against Stephen A are my favorites right now to watch
I remember watching him in high school when I was a freshman he was a senior at cave spring which was in the same district as Franklin County. He was and is a great player and person from what I seen. He also won the McDonald's MVP at that game over Melo. He has a list of enough accomplishments to be proud of for several lifetimes.
i rarely watched ncaa, but when i saw JJ i started following him/duke
After MJ, JJ is my favorite player of all time. His time with LAC and PHI are his best years. I still miss looking up highlights of him after their games.
JJ was an Elite shooter
A Pure shooter & tough shot maker!
A solid nba player
Post ball - he's a great commentator/analyst
Keeps SaS in check with the BS.
Love his podcast as well- so articulate and candid.
Respect.
This was amazing! Love the perspective from the 🐐
i saw JJ at cameron indoor back in 2002. what a talent
JJ A LEGEND!
Man i love jj, he is such a cool guy in my opinion. No ego, no pushing on himself
If everyone actually got to know JJ for five minutes, everyone would love him. He's so great; my 3rd favorite basketball player of all time!
incredible interview!!
JJ is so good at what he does👏
bro ngl when JJ talks about like practicing certain moves and stuff i do it EXACTLY like him. it’s freaky asf and it makes me so much better than other people. focusing on practicing moves you actually will use in game and in the speed of the game is such a great ability to have
😂
Where’s his legandary poster dunk on Shaq??
Has to be one of my fave on-air personalities. dude straight up lovesssss hooping. I'm starting to collect his basketball cards.
Love jj tho he a real one.... duke legend
That Lego costume is legendary
JJ glad they change his position to a combo guard. They tried to make him a traditional PG he’s not. He’s a shooter catch and shoot, off the screen pick and pop etc.
Great interview 👍
15:48 When he looks at McConnell (who's mouth agape in mock wonder) after that shot and goes "That's incredible" as an inside joke is one of the funniest things I've seen.
4:35 JJ did the “Robert Horry” bounce 😂😂
JJ goated
Favorite college basketball player all time slap the floor jj
favorite player
JJ is awesome
I’m a big Duke fan 🗣 I have so much respect for JJ it’s crazy. I don’t know why I do but I just respect em like he’s my father or something lol. Never have not kept it real.
Love JJ, he makes being a basketball nerd cool and fun!
I'ma born and raised Louisville Cardinals fan at that time we was in the Big East but its really hard to explain how big J.J Reddick was... I mean there was a Kevin Durant at Texas, Blake Griffin at Oklahoma, Michael Beasley, Kevin Love obviously others but 3 of the players i mentioned dropped 30 point 20 rebound games, sometimes regularly... but J.J in the college world, at Duke, was like the prodigal son! Also When he mentioned his #4 jersey sells i literally laughed out loud cus I made my dad buy me a BLUE & black #4 J.J jersey and that thing has since disappeared but I was a true fan of this dude and still am. Its always great when your already a fan but the personality matches up, great guy!
I like logical people, JJ Redick talks about basketball with logic, I like JJ Redick...
JJ looks like a movie star 😂
ant man?
Fr he looks like the American version of Tom Ellis 😂
cause he is... he's Top Gun 😅
His and one against the Raptors in the playoffs deserved a mention. Great moment, even though we lost
Jj is my favorite thing about espn now easy
Omar is awesome!!!
If I see JJ, I watch. College legend
Jj Redick had a textbook jumpshot
to this day still the most exciting and maybe even best college player i've ever watched...he was a different level in college and he's one of the geatest college players of all time
Being a “feel” person makes so much sense
JJ is the next superstar at ESPN
Well respected basketball player
I enjoy Omar a lot more in this format than in his shorts on YT.
The Chronicles of Redick!
Jameer Nelson killing me🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Title should’ve been. “JJ Reddick. Tooting his own horn for almost 20 min”
He has a great base for shooting
Right on
JJ is the goat ,one of my favourite
Goat of what? Lol
@@ViperMods_216 of duke
@@godspeedfilthypeasantblack1968 probably right
yeah omar
True professional about his business
Articulates his words so nicely
its funny he mentioned earlier in the video about how he's not allowed to cuss but then he just drops the F bomb towards the end
I remember thinking jj was gonna be a bust…and even when he wasnt starting he was doing jump shoot videos…dude had one of the purest jumpers ever
11 years make a wish it came true
JJ averaged like 15 pts to 18pts a game during his prime in the NBA. That's great.
J J!!!!
Omar with the flex having a PS5 on his desk
JJ is an awesome guy, extremely clever and educated. His podcast is great
this good
Bro know all his stats 😂
Right 😂
That's tough
JJ’s movement was so crisp off the ball I wish I can move around to get open like that 😭
The word is “especially”.
14:32 JJ thought he was on the pod 😭😭
7:01 “I didn’t push off lebron”
Lmao 🤣 we know bro lmao 😂
lebron the bully and diver
He is this era's Plumber
The behind the back camera angle of him and his comp is so goofy lol
That's costume is dope
JJ
We need more screentime for Omar! Get him on more shows
If NIL existed when JJ was at Duke, he'd have 35 Jeeps, his own meal at Chipotle, a PGA Tour deal, and some kinda exclusive trading cards.
Jj should somewhat be in hall of Fame conversation
Welcome to LA, coach!
Kirk was a baller tho. One of my favorite players to watch as a Bulls fan. Obviously theres others above him Derrick and MJ and Scottie etc... But man did i love the energy and passion Kirk brought. Underrated defender too, yeah Lebron and some others killed him, but he took the challenge and didnt back down.
JJ would kill in today's NBA, man I loved watching him at Duke, so underrated in the NBA too
so weird seeing jj in a bucks jersey he was there for 20 mins lol
College Basketball is more meaningful to fans and JJ was one of the most hated (By UNC fans such as my self lol) and loved Players ever to play. His shot would take ur heart out because he would disrespect you by stopping and shooting a 3 on fast break with NOBODY in front of em lol
My guy Omar took it to 11 with the teeth amirite?
9:47....Anyone else catch the guy at the bottom getting hit, fell, tried to get up ....and then fell again for no reason.
I’m a white guy and 3 pt shooter and I love JJ ….. but he was so sure of that hit and miss guarding of Kobe his team almost got swept that year haha
Thanks white guy
The only analyst on ESPN that utilises logic when making claims
You better do this with CJ now
I was NFL bound until them Sebring Lightning bolt boys took out my knees in the Heartland Championship round of 128 playoffs in the 7th grade
JJ taught me how to shoot with Better Basketball videos ! Real hoopers know JJ was the truth!
Great interview btw JJ!! Superb job @OmarRaja !
Imagine if jj played with lebron. He would’ve created so many plays for him and had defensive picking and choosing bc he is a VERY consistent shooter. I think it’s bc jj size n defense that led him to skip on him bc he’s pretty big on that. I don’t blame him but man
Should’ve covered his career dunks
