Another great one Tom👍Regarding your comment about Carp getting too much credit for being smart, this is what ChatGPT had to say on the matter (hint: you’re correct💪): Q: Can a hooked carp purposefully you swim into cover to break you off…? ChatGPT ANSWER: “Carp behavior is often driven by instinct and survival mechanisms. When hooked, carp often seek out cover, such as weeds, rocks, or submerged structures like downed trees, because these environments offer them safety and a chance to escape predators or threats. In this case, the carp may instinctively swim toward the tree to find shelter, and the result is that the line gets tangled or broken. *So while it may appear purposeful, it’s more likely a natural survival response rather than a calculated decision.” - Joe
I like that reply. Makes sense, fight of flight instinct and running for cover or make that swimming for cover is natural. The salmon I fish for in rivers in Alaska annually (just last week) will swim with incredible speed straight for a downed tree or log in the river to hide/escape and it appears in human minds that it intentionally wrapped the line around it to unhook itself. The hook release is just a side result from the fish looking for safety. I see Carp getting reeled in by me in one venue where I'm standing between two reed beds and for sure and for certain they see the reeds and aim for them.
@@OutsidewithTom I guess we’ll all have to wait and see🤞 I’m personally amazed at the speed at which AI tech has rocketed forward in the recent past. That said, I don’t believe humankind will be forced to eat carp for breakfast, lunch and dinner, anytime soon😂
Good to watch Carp fishing in The US. Another good thing to put in with your oats is ground tiger nuts. I often put a few handfuls in a food blender and grind them down to add to a mix.
Another great video Tom, I think Carp are smarter than you give them credit for. That last carp got a couple of his buddies and they had a blast wrapping your lines around those sticks knowing you were more than likely call it a day and leave them alone. Thanks for the video.
love fishing like this, and really enjoyed the video. In the right spots with good bait you can get action all day. caught 14 carp in a day last week on a similar bait all in the same location :)
We have a lake here that is really shallow. There used to be many large carp that made the water very dirty and there were not that many weeds About ten years ago they paid a company to remove the carp and the lake became very "clean" because nothing was churning up the bottom Now the lake is one gigantic weed bog. You can't fish it very well because most of the lake is well above ten feet deep which is where the weeds tend to stop growing. So they have to spend a lot of money using a weed cutting machine that they never used to have to use. Plus there aren't any large carp hanging out at the dam anymore They didn't poison the lake they used nets under the ice in the wintertime.
Tom I would love to be the camera 🎥 man doing your videos the fishing spots are great my pay will be only coffee I love coffee but thanks for the video 👍🎣👍🎣👍🎣👍🎣
@@OutsidewithTom just couldn’t make out what it was ,we have plenty around one of the lakes I fish it was formerly a power plant lake coal fired but was dismantled I’m in Texas .I am enjoying the rigs I ordered from your site .
Tigernuts are a top bait but unfortunately banned on 90% of waters here in UK. They started banning all nut baits after the UK record (Benson) was found dead due to wrongly/unprepared nuts.
"It has since been confirmed that the most likely cause of death was not nut poisoning, but rather reproductive complications due to gravidity." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benson_(fish)
@@OutsidewithTom don't think we'll ever really know tbh.I still use tigernuts where allowed, naturals must be healthier than most man-made baits. I'm fortunate enough to live 30 mins from Bluebell lakes, remember when it happened,it was on all the news channels/papers etc. Benson is in a glass case now in the tackle shop.
Hey Tom, what camera are you usuing for your main shots where you see takedowns and show the fish off, I’m in the market for a camera and yours seems portable enough with good quality, great video btw.
I always end up filling a garbage bag full of garbage. Every morning when I leave I fill up the bag I brought my cutbait for catfishing. . . I fish in a park that a college basically hangs out in with garbage cans everywhere and they still just leave piles of crap laying everywhere. It's a large expensive university. I think rich people are worse at littering than poor people are. They expect someone to clean up their garbage. I guess I'm that person LOL.

Haha, that's pretty funny. I do think that same thing applies to AI. Gets more hype about its "intelligence" than it deserves.

Yet again, Tom’s sensible approach to common mis-beliefs reveals itself👍

Yup, a Tree Pounder. One of my most popular catches. Adding tangled fishing lines is truly a masterful touch. Lol
Nice, healthy fish. Thanks
They seem to be really good at making me look foolish. 😁

My problem with bowfishing carp is they kill the fish and most wont even eat it. Dont kill what you dont eat.

A 10 year old Panasonic camcorder that they don't make anymore.

Rich slobs, poor slobs, they all do it.
Bowfishing is for people who can't catch fish normally.
I think a lot of people who are into bowfishing don't do hook and line fishing at all.
