Hi Maja, I agree. In New Zealand we use metric cups and weights and I know that a NZ cup (250ml) is a different amount than a US cup. Using weights takes out the conversion and confusion.
America is SO behind the rest of the world!! 99%of other countries use the metric system, but we're won't do it because it's "too confusing". Also, I think we think we have the "best way" because of our ego- centricity. We use the metric system in medicine, hospitals, scientific disciplines etc. I even like European shoe sizes better than the American way. But I think more and more Americans are beginning to use metric. I think it's nice when the weights of ingredients are given, so much more precise than using other measuring devices.

I really appreciate baking videos where things are made from scratch without using stand mixers. We're lower income, and I've never owned one. I like seeing how things are made without using expensive small appliances and/or gadgets. Some people really do live without those things.

Congratulations on doing it right! I've been baking bread (and cinnamon rolls) for about 50 years and was happy to see that unlike many you proofed your yeast the old fashioned way. I advise everyone to do it this way instead of adding it to the flour as you get a better dissolve and the yeast is already fed, working, and ready to go when added and you get better results every time. I don't use a mixer and hand knead my doughs as you can feel it change under your hands and know when the kneading is complete. Beautiful job Matt, keep it up!
+zanity 777 Thx a lot for this wealth of info :-) I use fresh yeast. Disolved in a little of the liquid, then stirred into the rest of the liquid & added to the flour. Turns out fine. But I'd certainly treasure any advice from a proffesional baker like yourself :-)
zanity777 there is yeast specially designed to be added directly now days .. don’t be so critical of change .. we are never beyond learning something new

I just made these and they turned out delicious! I subbed coconut sugar for regular sugar and kneaded for 10 minutes, until i could see light through the dough without it breaking. I brushed them with milk before baking, then baked them just enough to cook all the way but stay soft. I have tried so many cinnamon roll recipes and this one has been the best! Thank you so much!

These are absolute b o m b. I would recommend these to everyone and everything if I could. My whole family would’ve eaten the whole pan in one setting if we had a higher tolerance for sugar. I’ve been using this recipe since last year and my family loves it. instead of wrapping the dough with plastic wrap, I use aluminum foil for a hour and 30mins and it comes out so soft . thank you for this recipe
I usually don't comment but I had to say that this recipe was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! It looks just like cinnabon and tastes even better! Really wasn't very difficult, and the recipe did not require any fancy ingredients and techniques! LOVE IT!

Hand kneading is a must....People do not know what they are missing when they use a machine.....My Nonna taught me when I was a bambino how to knead....I never do it different....I do not own a kitchen aide....No need for one....You did a great job...They look magnifico..

Probably why I keep putting off buying a Kitchen Aid, not that I would complain if someone gave one to me for a gift, lol but I think in that video I say someday I might get a Kitchen Aid mixer, well its been a couple of years, and I still don't have one! lol Hand kneading is great because you get to feel the consistency of the dough, and get it just right, mixers take all the fun out of yeast breads, lol.
+TheElyas247 Nope, I used 2/3 cup. :) But for the filling it doesn't have to be precise anyways. if you want it to be more sweet, use more, if you don't want the filling to be as sweet, then use less.

In The Kitchen With Matt omg just brought them out of the oven and had 3 after my dinner, they are amazing, I've tried so many other recipes and I allays had the problem of my cinnamon buns getting brown but the inside still a doughy mess. But with your recipe that wasn't the case. I will definitely make them again soon.

This is my first time baking a cinnamon rolls for over 18 years. My first time using a yeast it didn’t work I follow the directions but I failed and never bake with yeast again. I like the fact that you talk about adding nuts and raisins to the cinn rolls...raisins make them really moist. And I like that you use a regular icing and not a cream cheese one. So bravo.

this was my first time making cinnamon rolls and they turned out amazing. absolutely love them, they taste amazing. The perfect amount of sweet too. Safe to say this will be a recipe i use long term.

Tried this and it came out AMAZING! I made several changes with the flavor and added other ingredients for frosting but it came out really good. I was sketchy with the dough not rising as much when prepping but once I popped them in the oven and took them out, they actually perked up really nice. It was soft, easy to cut and the taste was so good. Thanks for such a great recipe! Ps: I didn't use my kitchen aid dough hook for the dough, I did it by hand but I used the stand mixer for the frosting just because I wanted a thick and fluffy frosting.

michael mathew yess it also depends on how long you bake it for , if you want it to be soft and fluffy don’t bake it that long, take it out when it’s lightly browned only

I made these today! I made them dairy free- just used fake butter instead of real, and oat milk instead of normal. For my filling I added baked sweet potato, chocolate chips (dairy free), nutmeg, and ground cloves. All in addition to the normal fillings. I also added some sweet potato to the dough. So yummy!!

I made this a couple days ago and it turned out perfect!!! My family and friends said it tasted like Cinnabon. I tried another recipe and had to throw it away because the dough was too hard. With this one I didn't end up using all of the flour but I was glad that you said to add the flour in slowly. I looked up a lot of recipes but I can say hands down this is the one 👍🏿👏🏿👌🏿 My friend said Cinnabon sells them in 6 so that's how much I should bring next time 😄. Thanks for sharing your recipe.

I just made these and they turned out delicious! I subbed coconut sugar for regular sugar and kneaded for 10 minutes, until i could see light through the dough without it breaking. I brushed them with milk before baking, then baked them just enough to cook all the way but stay soft. I have tried so many cinnamon roll recipes and this one has been the best! Thank you so much!

I’ve been using this recipe since last year and my family loves it. instead of wrapping the dough with plastic wrap, I use aluminum foil for a hour and 30mins and it comes out so soft . thank you for this recipe

Hand kneading is a must....People do not know what they are missing when they use a machine.....My Nonna taught me when I was a bambino how to knead....I never do it different....I do not own a kitchen aide....No need for one....You did a great job...They look magnifico..

You said 2/3 cup of brown sugar in the description but yours looks like about 1cup. Did you use more?
+TheElyas247 Nope, I used 2/3 cup. :) But for the filling it doesn't have to be precise anyways. if you want it to be more sweet, use more, if you don't want the filling to be as sweet, then use less.

This is my first time baking a cinnamon rolls for over 18 years. My first time using a yeast it didn’t work I follow the directions but I failed and never bake with yeast again. When I make cinnamon rolls, I put the "ends" in the pan cut side up so you can see the swirls. Your recipe looks good.

I like the fact that you talk about adding nuts and raisins to the cinn rolls...raisins make them really moist. And I like that you use a regular icing and not a cream cheese one. So bravo.

Tried this and it came out AMAZING! I made several changes with the flavor and added other ingredients for frosting but it came out really good. I was sketchy with the dough not rising as much when prepping but once I popped them in the oven and took them out, they actually perked up really nice. It was soft, easy to cut and the taste was so good. Thanks for such a great recipe!
Ps: I didn't use my kitchen aid dough hook for the dough, I did it by hand but I used the stand mixer for the frosting just because I wanted a thick and fluffy frosting.

I just made 14pcs of cinnamon rolls using your recipe. I made these today! I made them dairy free- just used fake butter instead of real, and oat milk instead of normal. For my filling I added baked sweet potato, chocolate chips (dairy free), nutmeg, and ground cloves. All in addition to the normal fillings. I also added some sweet potato to the dough. So yummy!!

I made this a couple days ago and it turned out perfect!!! My family and friends said it tasted like Cinnabon. I tried another recipe and had to throw it away because the dough was too hard. With this one I didn't end up using all of the flour but I was glad that you said to add the flour in slowly. I looked up a lot of recipes but I can say hands down this is the one 👍🏿👏🏿👌🏿
My friend said Cinnabon sells them in 6 so that's how much I should bring next time 😄.
