I really like me SPD's. It was funny at first when I would stop and just fall over because I didn't get my foot out in time. Now it's second nature and my feet automatically unclip when in danger, like a week ago going down hill in a rock garden and my front tire hit a rock big enough to stop the bike but my body kept going. Really glad I was wearing knee and elbow pads!
Yikes! Glad that worked out. I'm a huge fan of armour, picked up that from Enduro dirt biking. Yeah, getting out of the pedals is def second nature. I think part of that is that they're well designed so like ski bindings, you pull out of you fall.
They're called clipless because the old style retention system had a toe clip mounted on the front of the pedal. SPD cleats did away with the toe clips, hence clipless label. Shimano M520 are not just for newbs, they are the best value clipless pedal on the market. Their performance to price ratio blows away just about every other pedal out there, which is why they've been around so long.
The original term “toe clips” was factually wrong. Those toe-holders were more like toe cages, or toe holsters. But they had no clip. At most, they had a cinch strap. Just because the old term “toe clip” was wrong does not mean we have to accept a new term of “clipless” which is even more wrong. Save human civilization! Reject the term “clipless pedals!” Call them “clip-in pedals.”
You spoke truth in the first minute. These are NOT clipless pedals. The whole point of this type of pedal is that you CLIP your shoe to the pedal. Using built-in CLIPS. Everybody needs to stop calling these clipless pedals. Call them “Clip-in pedals.” Call them something, but not “clipless pedals.”
Thank you for clarifying what SPD stands for. The term is often used and it's assumed everyone knows what it means.

Cool, I had a pair of those clip pedals on a road bike as a kid. Yeah, I'm loving these pedals, totally agree.

I'm game!
Cheaping out on pedals nowadays is downright stupid. The bombproof legend... Shimano PDM520... can be had for $40.
Top video. Really informative for me. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it helped!!
❤️🔥 That’s a great Mtb video to watch! I just subscribed to your channel.
Keep it up 🥰😃
Thanks a ton, really glad you liked it.
Really good video to watch, keep it up!
Thanks, glad you liked it! What pedals do you run for MTB riding?
Pulling is not a standard cycling dynamics, you may do it for sprints or short climbs, but it's not natural movement for long rides.
I have arthritis so it can help relieve knee pressure as alternate motion

Im planning to buy a m505 and im just running xc, do you recommend me those?
Interesting ending. You must of not known how thirsty you were.
My guilty pleasure is a monster 😂😂
