That is all nice unless you have a XM moduel. Also you will require 6 M2.5x20+6mm Instead of 3. 2 ea for the 3 hold down screws. this gives enough lift to clear the XM module. Also you will need to drill a hole for the Joy auto board power cable, as the XM connection cable is where this vid runs the Joy power cable.

This was a great help when I installed it in my 997.2 Carrera, however when I pair I don't get that recognition screen on the head unit...in the JoyeAudio settings panel it says my phone is connected through bluetooth and wifi carplay is enabled but it doesn't go to carplay and I can't click carplay on the main menu. Any ideas how I can solve this?
Do you have the Aux plug inserted? Also try turning off the Bluetooth on your phone and turning it back on. Usually, your phone's name will pop up on the screen. Additionally, you can try to forget the module on your phone and try to connect again.
Thanks for the reply. Actually I unplugged that aux dummy piece and simply turning the ignition on so that the engine ran made the difference. That allowed the unit to detect my phone then boot up apple car play. It w works perfectly in that order now every time I start the car. I think the problem before was because I was doing the install at night and wasn’t turning he ignition the whole way and starting the car. Fantastic step by step video. THANK YOU!!!!!

I installed a similar looking harness to put in a Pioneer unit with back up camera on my 2010 997.2 4S Cabriolet. That particular adapter I used lost all the sound to the rear speakers because of the way the Porsche MOST fiber optic system works. There was no workaround. And with the top down you couldn't hear any music due to wind noise overpowering it. So I had to go back to the OEM equipment. Can you confirm the rear speakers still provide plenty of sound on this product? If so, I'm buying it. I have enjoyed 100% of your videos as I have both the 997.2 and a Cayenne so everything you do is 100% relevant for me. Thanks.

It’s so interesting you made this because the Cayenne I was going to purchase was a base model without a touch screen but I was wondering if I could order an aftermarket one and install it because on a 2008 it would be outdated anyway. Hi Lee. You can still use the pcm for phone calls. The microphone for the pcm will not work for voice commands though which is why you need the separate microphone. Because the audio for the module is going through aux, the pcm Bluetooth should still switching automatically for the phone call assuming you are connected to both the pcm and Carplay module.

Good question. This sounds lazy but I ran the mic wire underneath the center arm rest console and just left the microphone between the drivers seat and the center arm rest console. It picks up audio well there.

I tried this exact same mod for my Cayenne 958. I got the GTA Car Kit setup, which is identical to this JoyeAuto unit, just cheap chinese Alibaba rebranded crap. I got Android Auto to turn on for about 15 minutes. I was excited. Then it went back to a blank/black flickering screen. It's been a headache. I just wish there were easier aftermarket head unit upgrades available for us :( the guys at Car Toys and Best Buy are clueless.
Oops. Mistakenly replied to the other comment. Super informative video by the way my friend. I've an 09 C4S that currently has no sound. Ninety nine percent of the head unit functions as normal with the sole exception being the lack of sound issue. Not a peep. I'm guessing that I would have to probably sort that out before implementing this set up or does the set up itself supercede the existing audio sources or in my case, my current lack thereof? It won't override any existing sources except for the AUX. It also won't fix your sound problem so it would be good to figure out what's going on there first.

Yeah, unfortunately won't work on yours. It will be harder for porsche to make a unit for the 997 and up given the level of integration with the rest of the vehicle. It is possible though.

John, great questions. You don't actually need the navigation to work, but you will need to enable the Aux source to work. I've heard of people doing this using a PIWIS. This is a GREAT install guide. I am going to watch a few more times to feel comfortable. Did a retrofit unit install in my Boss 302 (Navidyne), but this DIDN'T require breaking open the oem unit and installing a board...THAT is pretty cringy for a six figure vehicle owner ('12 GTS Manual). The integrated back-up camera might be what pushes me to proceed. Added to my Boss 302 and REALLY miss not having a camera in my GTS. I think a winter project when car is slumbering.
Definitely not a 20 minute job but definitely something you don't need an engineering degree for. Just need some experience working on cars or know a good audio technician.
I did this and somehow lost the sound on my unit.. No AM/FM sound.. CD and SAT sound did work, which was odd. the functionality of the carplay worked but no sound.. so I know that the joyeauto is working. Has anybody had this problem. I did plug the small jack into the aux on the console.. everything else wired in.. I did stuggle a bit to put the unit back together.. and not sure if I damaged something but there is no obvious crimped or stripped wire.. I want to warn anybody doing this.. to make sure when u are putting the case back together, that they are oriented 90 degrees, like an open book and then fold it down.. the top portion should fit on the tabs in the back of the bottom portion.. like a hinge.. dont simply oppose the 2 pieces and squeeze together... or u will end up w my result.. I eventually figured it out.. I will also mention that don't do this late at night.. I prob would not have made this mistake under normal conditions. Also.. I belive you need to put the #3 toggle switch in the "on" position for pcm3, or it wont project properly on the unit.
I got a new unit and redid the installation.. all went great.. but now hear very minor low volume engine noise between songs when carplay is on.. not during normal stereo operation.. I'm curious if anybody else had this problem? I thought about noise suppressor on the power line which is plugged into the fuse box.. vs. grounding the carplay unit to the actual stereo.. as this problem can occur w floating ground.

You just run the wire along the footwell paneling. The power wire includes a fuse that you simply plug into the fuse box.

Not for apple carplay or Android Auto. It only comes up for the stock navigation system that is over a decade old at this point.

I haven't tried it on a long trip yet so it's hard to say. If that were to happen, I would just toggle it back to the normal functionality.

Only 20minutes necessary to install the car play module… if and only if you spent before 4 years studying electronic engineering…

I got a new unit and redid the installation.. all went great.. but now hear very minor low volume engine noise between songs when carplay is on.. not during normal stereo operation.. I'm curious if anybody else had this problem? I thought about noise suppressor on the power line which is plugged into the fuse box.. vs. grounding the carplay unit to the actual stereo.. as this problem can occur w floating ground.
