I got a '22 Rubicon, too. It is the perfect machine. Not a racer, but fast enough. Strong enough to do anything, but not so overpowered it tears itself apart over time. Just the right balance of everything you need, and nothing you don't.
That is exactly my view on it too! Glad I’m not alone in that opinion of the rubicon! What’s the most interesting terrain you have tackled on yours? For me it was this crazy rocky trail that had everything from giant boulders to a 3 foot deep mud pit, all in like a 1 km section of trail, I’ve been meaning to go back there and film it, maybe I will get a chance this summer to do that.
@offroad I guess the most interesting terrain was in Daisy, AR. There is about a 7 mile trail that runs up and down the mountains along the lake there, and some of those inclines were rutted and rocky with tree roots exposed. That was pretty hairy. At on point midway along the trail, there is a part that is so steep and washed out that you can only go down it. There was no way to get back up, as I didn't have a winch mounted at the time. Had to get back to the truck by driving along the highway from where the trail came back out to the trailhead on the far side. Here in Texas, I just ride around the farm and on dirt roads. I'm not big on mud anymore, so I try to stay dry. I got all the jumping, racing, and mudding out of my system when I was younger on my '85 350X and '85 250ES. Now I just enjoy the cushy ride on the Rubicon for work and camping. My old back can't take the pounding of those solid rear axles anymore.
I don’t tend to use it a whole lot, mostly when I’m pulling something overly heavy like a large trailer of gravel or sometimes if I’m going to be in thick mud I’ll use it to get extra torque to keep the tires spinning, but most of the time I don’t find I really need it. Although it is definitely nice to have in those rare situations that I need it.
Great vid. New subscriber here. I had a 21 Rubi and sold it and 2 days ago I picked up a 24 deluxe Rubi. I heard you say you have 27’s on there. Thinking of doing the same. Would you do it again ? How much power loss ? What tires ? ✌🏻
I love the 27’s, I’m running Kenda Bear Claw EVO tires in sizes 27x9-12 on the front and 27x11-12 on the back. I was actually surprised by how little power loss there was it still has enough torque to break the tires free and throw the back of the bike out around corners, I’ve buried it in mud up to the top of the fender and still had enough torque to keep the tires spinning and get it to get itself out of the mud. The one major thing I noticed is that before the speedometer topped out at 74 KPH and now while it still says 74kph on the dash for the top speed I’m actually going closer to 105 kph according to a gps Speedo app on my phone. I will definitely be putting another set of 27’s on it when these wear out, although I’m not sure they will ever wear out as I’m at over 2000 kilometres on this set of tires and there’s practically no wear on them when both my previous sets of tires (In 25 inch) wore out right around 1900 kilometres. Highly recommend the Kenda bear claw EVO. And I definitely enjoy having 27” tires
New Brunswick, Canada. I’m riding through the Canadian portion of the Appalachian mountain range, so I’d imagine some of the areas of Maine and New Hampshire would be very similar.

Right on brother
Nice video. Do you use the high / low range much ? I have a 2022 Rancher , so I obviously don't have that ability.
Happy trails.

What state is this in? Those trails look nice.
