I drive a 2022 Tesla 3 long range (regular tires) Drove through Crawford Notch NH during a snowstorm, 6 to 12 inches. This area is usually always plowed but this day the plows were not out. My Tesla had one slight skid in the Notch but corrected itself without any further problems. I drove 20 miles in the snowstorm without any problems. I’m really impressed with its driving in snow and rain.
FYI we’ve been driving a 2022 RWD Model 3 LFP in Quebec for 2 years. I believe we get more snow here than in Vancouver and we’ve never had an issue. Using good winter tires RWD model 3 or Y are excellent in all weather conditions. That said if your goal is to drive off road and through snow banks, then sure get the AWD but IMO the LFP battery is a better technology and more enjoyable to live with. Now at 103,000 km
In Germany auto market was up 20% in April and EV market was up 3% excluding Tesla YoY. So 35% drop is Tesla issue, not market issue just like in the rest of Europe
I live close to the us/Canada border and have no need for 4 wheel drive. I guess it’s because I learned to drive on snow and ice. People just need to learn how to drive!
I quietly enjoy the dry humour you manage to sprinkle into your segments. A welcome change from the dull monotone of Dylan Loomis on Electrified who bores me no end
Electrified does a great job too. No reason to be harsh towards others, when simply expressing personal taste. Respect for quality work can let us all find content providers that match us WITHOUT promoting sensationalism.
Matt lives in Vancouver... if it snows more that twice a year they're in trouble 😅. You'll get plenty of snow in the rockies, prairies and a ton the further east you go.
I think we are in a small (up to 9 months) pause where a LARGE number of potential buyers is hesitating and thinking about hybrids (helping Toyota especially), and LOTS of competitors finding they cannot and do not want to compete in EV's for the moment. AT the same time, various weak economies EVERYWHERE are slowing demand for EVERYTHING. There is enough demand for Teslas with FSD to carry the company across the chasm. Tesla has a chance to survive all of this and come out the other side even more dominant until others catch up or never do.
The "glut of Chinese cars in European ports" (at 21:19) was covered more than a week ago by Electric Viking I think. Most Chinese companies (BYD being an exception) do not have the distribution or dealer networks established in the EU to properly get vehicles from ports into customer hands. Poor planning is hurting their ability to gain brand recognition.
basically all the SVP's got complacent since they are multi-millionaires, gotta replace them with people looking for their biggest payday for peak performance
Elon got the most complacent, he announced model 2 in 2020 in Shanghai and nothing got done and now falling behind with no affordable models to drive demand.....he is the one that should be fired
Having been on merger and acquisition teams and was the executive that blended two companies post acquisition, one reason you do this is because you are going to absorb a new company that has strong, key people you are exiting in Tesla. Not saying another auto company but could be…. What if you acquire a Ford or an AI or a chip company?
It is important to understand what we are seeing with Optimus. It is not learning by watching the trainers, the trainers are providing all the mechanical inputs (via the headsets and apparatus) to train against a very specific outcome. This suggests to me there is no AI or reasoning going on here, only neural net training. For example if the person feeding the batteries left a battery on its side in the feeder and that specific scenario was not "trained" hundreds of times, then the bot would have no clue what to do. I would guess the walk through office is the same. Let's see it walk through an office it wasn't trained on, which would require applying simple logic about using clearways and avoiding walls or falling out of the building.
17:28 "We also shouldn't discount step [sic, "steep" - I think this was a typo from what was meant to be written.] change improvements from AI that are almost certainly ahead of us, not behind us.... In other words, the development of AI is accelerating. Don't be mislead by how long it has taken us to get to where we are and how long it will take to get us where we are going... it is moving forward at an increasing pace!
No matter how good Tom Zhu is, I don't think he could have managed Tesla world wide well, First, English is not his native language, secondly American workers are not as obedience as Chinese workers, different culture, response differently. I know this well as I am also a Chinese American once in a manager role
"Obedient worker"? I think what you're hoping for is Optimus robots. Humans aren't devices to be used by you. They have names, families, hopes, and dreams. The way China treats its people is atrocious and appalling.
Zhu came to USA HQ for culture training and back to CH to implement bigger and better Elon thinking moving forward. All global companies move C suite members around for training DUH......
I would think a bit would have a cell phone build into it. It’s a productivity booster. Could you imagin an employee w/o a cell phone. They would be so dumb.
Watching all your videoes! all the way back to this is a tesla stock buying opportunity explained by Elon musk :D I loved that ending when are we gonna get a taste of that again? btw im all in tesla stock investor have 275 shares and holding till I retire im currently 31 atm. Oh and btw I cant vote since im from denmark its so stupid
I had an uncle extremely far up in a global company, chose to NOT take it, when given new promotion. It would have taken him away from where he wanted to be, area, friends, family. Who knows what Zhu is thinking. Perhaps he wants to be in China? Who knows? Speculation is silly. No one lives in his or Musks head.
If Elon trusts Tom Zhu completely and utterly, then I trust him too. It is not a demotion. These execs are not worried about promotions or demotions. Tesla is a different kind of operation!
I think Troy is very based on his takes. Now dont get me wrong, I'm hands over fist invested. But its good to have a quite realistic view, same goes for the autonomous day which i have also stated it's very important to differentiate the meaning between "UNVEILING" and "LAUNCH". A unveiling is nothing more then a briefing of a product that is destined to (launch) at a later date. Now is it possible that we might see one "zone" of robotaxis in 2025, yes plausible. But that still isn't qualified as a launch. And also, another point. Robotaxis, if when launched will be a "expansion" type deal. Which will be fulfilled and expanded in many years. I'm simply stating these points because to me it do appear that alot of people think that "robotaxi launch" will be at the flick of a button, which couldn't have been further from reality.
Yeah, building Optimus is not risky at all. That is why Elon has so much competition, compared to things such as FSD or Starship. Compare the danger from these androids to making 5000 pound machines that shoot around near humans at 60mph, or putting a crew on top of a giant, potential bomb. Androids aren't dangerous, at least until androids are much smarter than us and decide to become independent. Danger is Elon Musk's middle name.
Why is the bot using the hand furtherist away from the battery pickup area? Wouldn't be faster to use the other hand! It was trained by a right-handed person. The bot needs to walk much better it not you may as well buy a stationary robot to do programed actions.
Amazing every single thing that happens at Tesla you spin as a positive. Layoffs, its all good, lean and mean baby. Long time managers gone, its all good redundant positions anyway. Fire all the Supercharger people, its all good time for other company’s to start helping with charging.. People seem to think on 8-8 a Robo Taxi switch will be flipped and self driving cars will suddenly be rolling around the usa!!! No just no, it will be a slow slow process. How many people has Tesla hired to be remote assist drivers for Teslas. Just like waymo and cruise remote drivers will be needed. Until we see those positions filled Tesla FSD is stuck at level 2.
If rear wheel drive with snow tires is so good, no advantage of all wheel if considering cost of: 1. Cost of car and 2. Cost savings of not having to buy 4 new tires when one tire goes flat like you do with all wheel.
Tom was brought over to get the Mexico plant up. Tesla shifted to make the first production line at Austin instead and Tom helped with that. It’s done. Mexico is not coming online soon. So Tom goes back where he’s needed most. In China where things are incredibly dicey and difficult. Tesla may have learned the lessons from Tom/Giga China and applied them to the next gen line in Austin. Tom may not need to come back at all. Just remember back to what was said when he showed up in the US and then later to describe his role. None of those needs are present now. This is far from interesting. Especially considering the revamping being done in so many parts of Tesla this is a perfect time to get Tom back to his original sphere, China.
Why would Tesla keep a large Supercharging Team when the US Govt. is investing billions of dollars into a Supercharging structure across the nation??????
I think they are cancelling breaking ground on the Mexican giga factory for awhile. They want to time it with the need for millions of robo-taxis instead of making the cheaper models that will be made in existing factories. That may be a few more years waiting for various regulatory authorities. What this indicates to me is the possibility that Tesla will only be making, at least at first, one million more affordable vehicles.... up to the 3 million total Elon mentioned on the earnings call. Individual consumer cars are becoming secondary considerations in light of robo-taxi.
Troy really has no idea about software. Software is never complete. Software eventually works, hardware eventually fails. Almost everyone underestimates what can be achieved in 10 years and overestimates what can be done in 5 years.
@Matt Is it possible that Elon will hire back Drew B. and others after ratification of the Vote for his compensation package? My gut is that he has a plan and that the inner circle is part of the plan (or they would have made more of a big stink). It's unfortunate that so many people have been let go recently; however, I still think the company has promise.
He should not keep his comp....doesn't deserve it, couldn't sustain the company's success and product lineups....he is solely responsible for the bad performance of Tesla after buying twitter
Robots WILL be operating in 2025, not autonomous in volume yet until 2027, but well before Troy's 5-6 years. AI is moving at monthly break-neck speed (Optimus neck will be hard to break).
@21:36 Sorry, but you cannot use the performance of FSD (supervised) to claim that it's "preventing X crashes/day". I've already voted for Elon's paypackage with my broker, so that got me wondering... After getting abruptly let go, could these high level executives have voted no on his package before selling their Tesla stock? If so, added to Leo voting no and i'm sure a number of the funds, What happens to Tesla if Elon makes good on his statement and steps away? Especially with no obvious succession plan in place.

Elon is focused on shifting public perception of TSLA away from being "a CAR (hardware) company" toward being an "AI (software) company", thus warranting a PE of 80>200, vs. only 10>20! Moreover, he has also apparently decided that he wants CHINA to become its prototype ROBOTAXI market (where the government is more in direct control of future robotaxi rules. Therefore, I believe he has, very rationally, asked Tom Zhu to become the new VP in charge of GLOBAL ROBOTAXI rollout, arguably now the most important position in TSLA, second only to Musk. This also strategically moves TSLA away from the dread "race to the bottom" (in price competition) of which so many professional stock analysts are now so fearful.
Maybe Elon brought Tom to America and made him the #2, knowing he would soon be negotiating with China for FSD. He knew China would be distrustful, so he offered to send his newly high profile #2 executive, who happens to be Chinese, back to China to oversee Chinese operations, and FSD roll out. Elon plays chess 5 moves ahead.
LLMs are Large Language Models. trained on text. LVMs are Large Vision Models trained on video. Trying to talk about LVMs in an LLM context is like trying to talk about how blind people drive. Google's models are all LLMs. They don't have generative AI based on LVMs. Hint: Tesla's the only game in town on LVMs, and it started when Elon hired Pete Bannon in Feb 2016. The Rev 3 board was genius. D1/D2 continues the NPU rampage. I'm predicting Nvidia will be working with Tesla on supercomputer architecture that incorporates D2.
Amazing how every time we hit $185, its gets shorted down but we can break $180 on the way down, just amazing.
I drive a 2022 Tesla 3 long range (regular tires) Drove through Crawford Notch NH during a snowstorm, 6 to 12 inches. This area is usually always plowed but this day the plows were not out. This is why I started watching these instead

I will trust the Canadian when it comes to driving on snow.

Intriguing changes @ Tesla lately..... May The Force Be With Musk!

FSD in China is a massive undertaking. Looks like Tom Zhu has been promoted from what im seeing.
Bingo !!
Huawei, Xiaomi, XPeng etc already have self driving WAY better than Tesla's.
@@dynomotivedyno9194 Prove it.
@@dynomotivedyno9194 🤣

Elon got the most complacent, he announced model 2 in 2020 in Shanghai and nothing got done and now falling behind with no affordable models to drive demand.....he is the one that should be fired
There will be front wheel, rear wheel and all-wheel drive. All in one. My name is Jason you'll know.. soon enough. 😅
But what about the side wheel drive version? 🤔
Having been on merger and acquisition teams and was the executive that blended two companies post acquisition, one reason you do this is because you are going to absorb a new company that has strong, key people you are exiting in Tesla. Troy always works for shorts angle. Never had an even stance. Follows his largest funding source desires.
Is there any other company on earth that comes with more drama?

It seems like a good idea to have him back in China to introduce FSD … I think him being Chinese is going to make it more excepted there…
Tom Zhu will need to shepherd China FSD.
Why would Warren Buffet invest in a company with 2.5 BUS$ negative cashflow (Q1 2024)???
Why is the bot using the hand furtherist away from the battery pickup area? Wouldn't be faster to use the other hand! It was trained by a right-handed person. The bot needs to walk much better it not you may as well buy a stationary robot to do programed actions.
I think people just speculate too much. China is where the competition is the stiffest, this it’s needed the most attention from Tesla
I am a contrarian on this move- I think Elon wants his best man to leas FSD in China…

@Matt Is it possible that Elon will hire back Drew B. and others after ratification of the Vote for his compensation package? It's unfortunate that so many people have been let go recently; however, I still think the company has promise.
He should not keep his comp....doesn't deserve it, couldn't sustain the company's success and product lineups....he is solely responsible for the bad performance of Tesla after buying twitter

There’s one thing we can say, and that’s Elon”s definitely getting more involved
Morgan Stanley is nice to Tesla as Elon M. still has to return a couple of billions to them for his purchase of Twitter.
Tom ZHU stepping back is like, having Pecan PIE without ice cream or without whip cream, it's still pecan pie. Look at how much he makes $$.
Pretty sure 12.3.6 is just rev for to support Intel infotainment models.
@21:36 Sorry, but you cannot use the performance of FSD (supervised) to claim that it's "preventing X crashes/day". By it's very nature, people SUPERVISING FSD are on a much higher state of alert than if they we're in their normal (manual) driving mode. THAT is the reason why crashes WILL be reduced while driving in this supervisory mode.
Interesting attempted flip.

True to form

Could Tesla be reducing their workforce because in part Optimus will soon be ready to contribute?

At this point I think selling EVs from China for a few hundred dollars or free is a valid option
You read the poll wrong, Most people thought he was dim sum.
Zhu must be home sick.

So much for FSD!
The evidence suggests FSD is safer than a human driver and has been for some time.

Why are you reporting on a post by "MacroEdge" as if it were fact?
Front wheel drive in the snow. Point n shoot baby
Who is Tom Zhu replacing in China?
Probably a poor person who will now have to introduce FSD in China.
LOL...everything is good news! Always...guy leaves - great, guy gets fired - great, tghousands laid off, outstanding, sales fall, margins crushed - no problem...
I would like to see how the Tesla-bot can take a fall.
u need to realize, layoffs are a mkting trick...........75% of the layoffs are now contract workers for the next 12mths.........

He knew China would be distrustful, so he offered to send his newly high profile #2 executive, who happens to be Chinese, back to China to oversee Chinese operations, and FSD roll out. Elon plays chess 5 moves ahead.
Remember that China 🇨🇳 will be expanding with a new facility 😊
elon doing the same as X, fire everyone then just have everyone pick up more work and then give them a comp package
Did turn out well, didn't it???
Tom just missed his family in China
The stock market will crash sometime in the future. Just call me Elon. Always right eventually
Does Elon Musk know something about deteriorating US - China relations over Taiwan that we don’t ?
Stopped watching anyone defending Troy. Might tjek back in 6 weeks time to see if I will start watching again.
He was not on ketamine before. Ketamine makes people very erratic and irrational.
Buffett won't buy into tesla until 2030. Hopefully he's still alive and the pe is around 30... no guarantees
Bots ready to step in?
Excellent move. FSD in China is years ahead of the neanderthals in USA and Europe and is going to be huge. Tom will be busy.
