Here we are today July 9th 2024, they have just ended the moratorium on northern cod in NFLD, the rumors are that they are going give a lot of quota to offshore shore draggers. As a young fella from the south shore of NS involved in the fishery I don't think there's much hope for our way of life with the government still playing the buddy game with their corporate dragger drinking pals. Sad to see that we are headed this way again.
I live in Gloucester mass fished dragged Georges in the early 80 s when the government gave grants for knew boats it was technology yes new gear I remember George's we couldn't tow the NY without ripping it five years later all new nets new rollers. You. Could. These nets ever were no damage lots of fish yes technology. Did it
