  • I found these mismatched French Provincial coffee tables out for trash a few weeks ago and I thought I could turn them into a great matching set. My makeover definitely didn’t go as smoothly as I’d planned though. Watch along to see what happened!

French provisional furniture is not my thing. I kinda really dislike them. But this looks soo good! I love the grey and the wood top looks amazing! I was a bit shocked when you put the grey stain on, but when you wiped it of, it became perfect. Absolutely gorgeous. I love these trash find remakes because it really show how beutiful things can get with a bit of love and elbow grease. We need to stop this craziness of just throwing away good stuff as soon as they're not perfect anymore. And you are a great inspiration. Love your videos!

They are all gorgeous. The black wax and the diluted stain create beautiful depth. These were a struggle and I agree with each change you made. This is a real “trust the process” situation. I think if you throw a drop cloth over them, wait 48 hours and then look at them, you may see how beautiful they are. Or not. The colors are different from what you most often choose. I think they’re very elegant and sophisticated.🌸

The gray, I think, did the French Provincial coffee table more than justice, beautiful!! Love Wise Owl! I’ve sprayed several of their colors and did not dilute them, it’s not recommended as I recall. Oddly enough, I found their dark colors to be thinner and sprayed much easier. I struggled with the lighter colors and avoided them because I couldn’t thin and don’t have a lot of options on my spray gun.
These really turned out well! I know that sinking feeling when you spray a color and it’s not what you envisioned. That top on the coffee table! Stunning! I groaned when I saw you reach for the gray stain, but wow! The end result is beautiful!

I see your struggle with the tables and the gray paint. The workmanship is Kate Scott wonderful. The struggle could be the gray is "masculine"/"industrial" cool color. In contrast with the "famine"/"Granny-Sheek" scalloped edges. Because they are gray, the tables will find a new home quickly.

If it had been much more blue tinted like the swatch seemed to show, I think that would’ve been perfect and much more appealing to more people! I think it would’ve been very hard to match the wood on all pieces but I feel like the set would’ve looked much better if you had maybe got some new walnut laminate sheets for the end tables too. Even if the finished didn’t match exactly, I think they would’ve looked a bit better. But I love. Love, love everything you do and love how thorough you are!!! I suffer from paralysis of analysis so it takes me forever to finish anything. Loved watching your process and made me feel better about just doing it. I’m not a fan of the dark grey but really like how the top turned out. ❤ thank you!

I think they're beautiful. The black wax gave them a depth they didn't have before. Btw the picture of you that came in on my feed looking happy and really pleased with your "finds" reminds me of when I go to an estate sale and find more "stuff" for my collection.

Damn! I’m usually not a fan of painted furniture but those look great! And yeah, with a laminate top, there’s no other option. Beautiful work and yay on saving some nice pieces from the landfill.
