  • It's been about a year since I got my first Graphtec F-Mark 2 (CE-7000-ASC). It's made a huge difference for my business and I bought a second one about a month after the first. In this video, I talk about my experience using this machine and my advice for the replacement parts. I also share about the regular Graphtec CE-7000 that I got for using custom stickers and why it's a great choice too.
    I'm a college professor by day, sticker maker my evening and weekend. I love planning as a creative outlet that also helps me to be more productive. Stay tuned to see behind the scenes of a creative business, planning videos, new release videos, and my thoughts on planning and productivity.

    Great video! Love your feedback on how this compares to using silhouette. Really appreciate how much info you have shared of the parts that need to be replaced frequently. It’s not just about buying the machine, but more about maintaining quality for it to work well.

    Great advice on turning the strip 180 degree. You can actually buy the longest they have (for the widest graphtec) and cut it to your desired length

    I love when you share some of the technical behind the scenes stuff! Satisfies my innate curiosity to learn random things. It's mindboggling how much upgraded tools can make your life easier, isn't it? We find that where I work as well, with the equipment we upgrade from older/less robust versions.

    I'm able to cut two sheets by using a line down the middle and setting it to the pop cut settings. However My sheets might be slightly smaller than yours. Maybe that's the difference. Thanks for all that you share!

      I did try doing that and it worked most of the time, but I ended up having more jams, so I felt like it slowed things down more than it helped.

    Thanks for the update! I recently got a F-Mark 2. I love it so far and has been a total game changer! The setup was a little annoying and I consider myself tech savvy. Would you be will to share the site for the replacement blades? Also, are you getting the cutting strips from Graphtec?
    Edit: I have been able to fully cut out 2 sheets from the sticker paper. So no extra cutting needed.

      I'm so glad the machine has helped you too! I get the replacement blades from Ali Express. If you search for Graphtec replacement blades, there will be lots of options. They do take longer to ship though, so I've also gotten some on Amazon when I've been in a pinch. Yep, I get the cutting strips directly from Graphtec.

    Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I’m looking at purchasing one of these for my shop in the next year so it’s really great to see how you’ve found it and that you’re so happy with it that you purchased a second one. I was wondering what size plotter you purchased? As I’ve seen there’s a 19” 28” and 64” available.

    Thank you for the great advices. I purchased my Graphtec about one year ago and since today I have some issues with cutting, although I used a new knife and turned the strip. So before my cutting template was perfectly cut (I always use die cut) but now it messes up and the knife stucks at one point and rips off my paper instead of going through it like before.
    Therefore I am wondering if a new blade holder would help. So how do you know that it should be replaced instead of only the knife?

    • @FernCreekStickers
      @FernCreekStickers  6 месяцев назад

      You might try adjusting the depth of the blade. Sometimes I try changing the blade holder and just see if it helps. Sorry I can't give better advice.

    It looks like the new machines have a rj45 port. Assuming that is the case then you may be able to send from any pc on the network. 6.22

      Yes! I do know someone who does it like this. But I think you can still only operate one machine from a given PC.

    Hi! First of all thanks for the video, lots of helpful pointers! Today I got my CE7000-40 with an F-Mark2 feeder and I did the setup and basic calibration, but I've got a problem. The cuts get slightly inaccurate and misaligned towards the edges of the media (around the center of the sheet the cut is better but not perfect). I'm currently cutting on the A4 sticker sheets with a registration mark being 56mm (~2.2 inch) from the edge (I've entered it correctly into Imark software). I'm also running the offsets on 0 as it's not the same misalignment everywhere. I'm trying to cut 8mm (~0.3 inch) circles in a grid. I would love to hear your opinion as to what could be the cause :)
    Thanks for your help and your video :)

    I'm looking to do business cards, all types and shapes. Do you think that would be a good investment? I use the OKI9541 write tone of printer. I want to be able to cut out any shape business card that I want.

    • @FernCreekStickers
      @FernCreekStickers  Год назад

      I wouldn't recommend the machine with the sheet feeder for business cards since it's best for kiss cuts rather than die cutting. The CE-7000 with a carrier sheet would probably be a better choice.

    I got mine! Thank you for sharing this great machine with us. I am so excited and scared at the same time. I am definitely going through my learning curve. Do you use the Graphtec Pro software that comes with it or do you use Adobe Illustrator with the CE7000-40 as well?

      Yay! I'm glad you got yours and I hope it frees up a lot of time for you. Don't be too scared--you will figure things out! I don't use the Graphtec Pro software--I tried to but got pretty frustrated with it so I just use the cutter master plug-in for Illustrator which has worked really well for me.

    Hi - would you recommend the Graphtec 40 for a complicated die cut? I appreciated your video,as you say there is not a lot of information around the F-Mark2. I assume for a complicated die cut I would need to use a cutting mat - any suggestions for cheaper versions of the mats? I used to have a Brother Scanncut and would try and restick the mats using a spray adhesive but it was never particularly successful.
    I know I probably need a flatbed cutter but the jump in price for an unproven business model is very steep, which is why I am looking for a way to test the waters - your comment about the 12 cutting machines made me think you must have gone through tons of mats!

    • @FernCreekStickers
      @FernCreekStickers  Год назад

      Sorry for the slow reply--you would definitely need a mat for a complicated die cut. I always used the Silhouette brand mats. They are more expensive, but worth it in my opinion because the less expensive mats transfer adhesive to the back of what you're cutting.

    • @FernCreekStickers
      @FernCreekStickers  10 месяцев назад +1

      It depends on what size of material you plan to use. I just use letter and legal paper with regular printers so the 40 is good for me. If you’re planning to do large format printing, then you might want the 60

    Thanks for the great review. Do you have any experience cutting paper with this machine? Looking for something to cut dye sublimation transfers with that's more efficient than a Silhouette with sticky mats.

    • @FernCreekStickers
      @FernCreekStickers  Год назад

      Sorry for the slow reply! I have not done paper on this machine. I think you could do paper on mats with the regular CE-7000, but I you would have trouble doing matless die cuts for any complicated shapes.

    • @jonwhite5721
      @jonwhite5721 Год назад

      @@FernCreekStickers No worries, I ended up opting for the wide format FC9000-140. It allows a through-cut with its cutting groove channel so I can do perforated cutting without tearing up the cutting strip. Perf cutting is about the only way to handle paper cutting on these machines without a cut mat, but it works pretty well overall. I still use the Silhouette cutters and cut mats for smaller tasks though.

    I JUST got an fmark. I love it so far, my only issue is die cut function. I don't know what settings to use. I gave up for a bit an cut them out by hand, but i was thinking the die cut should be under special color magenta, but the dashed line (as I assume I should use) leave very messy edges I dont know if maybe I'm not cutting deep enough they don't tear away easily. Is there any advice you have?

    • @WhiteStag

    • @FernCreekStickers
      @FernCreekStickers  2 года назад

      Yes! You do have to play with the settings quite a bit to get a clean die cut, but it works well. I don't know that you would want to do a complicated die cut shape if you needed a really clean edge, but for rectangles it works well.

      Yes, please make a video about this topic!!! I’ve been searching high and low for more info on how to move cut files from Silhouette Studio to AI to cut on the Graphtec CE7000. I’m about to take the plunge and buy the same machine you have, but what’s holding me back is the fear over moving all of my files. I appreciate all of the videos you make and I’d love to see you create one on this topic.
