Can you make a video on what to expect when your fresh out of college and going into your first accounting job? And talk about things like: hours, salary, what your expected to do/know , if you receive a company car, etc.

I’m currently a first year tax associate at a big4 and now that busy season begun I already want out but you made a good point not to make a decision based off of temporary emotions. I hope it gets better :(

I definitely understand how you feel!! The first year was one of the hardest for me too. It'll get better, hang in there!

Also, something I’ve heard from people who come to me with similar questions is that they want to leave a situation, but they feel a sense of loyalty to a company that will surely replace them ASAP if they shift from an asset to a liability. I agree with weighing the pros and cons of a choice rather than making a rash decision based solely on emotion. Great advice as usual.

Stephie // stephienese I wanted to add, can you talk about the difference, salary, between the big four and middle tier accounting firms. Salary, PTO, and bonus.

Ez. Just ask for more when they present you with your offer letter. It's worked for me just fine.

Great video and advice! Make a list and use it as a guide. When you start to get negative go back and self check. The high school drama, the career progression all come together and lead you to make a decision. YOU make the call...thanks for sharing with your peers.

I worked in public accounting for seven years and have been trying to get out the last four. Even if you like doing accounting work and/or have a real knack for it, you're not doing yourself any favors by sticking around. You're expected to move up to the management level if you want to keep your job AND make a decent salary, and when you do move to that level you do far less actual accounting work and have more BS responsibilities like selling work to potential clients or making sure everyone who reports to you is charging time to the client while at the same time staying within budget, and this is especially a problem since companies don't hire the best candidates for the job and you get a lot of people who call in sick a lot or like to slack off. Don't even get me started on Independence regulations.

Exactly. Politics dominate management positions that pay the most. The good ole boys. If your not in, you won't ever be...

I would really appreciate it if you could make a video about dealing with work pressure as an new joiner (fresh graduate) at an audit firm. I'm 7 months into being an associate and it's turning out to be more difficult than I thought it would be to adapt and get used to the work. Love your videos btw!💕💕 keep them coming😄

Currently feel not so great in staff accountant position. Pay is average, no benefits, however I am learning a lot since this is my first job out of school. My boss has horrible communication skills and it can be difficult to learn from him. How can someone learn if you go in and ask a question and they practically yell at you and have little patience? One more busy season and I may start looking for other opportunities.

I'm so sorry you're going through that.... At least you're learning the kind of supervisor you don't wanna be! Keep your head up and I hope you can work on other engagements to get a better mentor experience!

I wanna leave Big 4, not because of the job nature, because of the team........ I hate my team. I have been recurring in this engagement for 2 years....

I know it shouldn't be a reason to think about leaving a job. .but, I dunno.. I am really stressed out these days, hate Big4 culture. Just hate this job. Just hate.. hate hate hate.

If you like the job but not the team, maybe you can look into getting on to a new team if you haven’t already. If you can sit through the hours i’d say to stay until senior. Senior will give you the most exit opportunities.

Can you please give me your thoughts on the CMA, Certified Management Accountant certification? Do you know anyone that has it? I will be sitting for part two in the 2019 testing window.

I know only a handful of people who have the designation. I think it's useful if you plan to be in industry (private accounting).
