I thought I was the only one who does the form on a heavy bag, a lot of people only do the form but don't actually try to make it work and that's why many kung fu fighters get beat up bc they don't understand what they are doing. As an amateur MMA fighter I do kick boxing, kung fu, and bjj so I like to add a lil Kung Fu to my boring fight style
@@Imjustspeakingmymind it's great that you use and integrate kung fu into your training. It boils down to form and function. If you don't pressure test the material, you will never learn how to use it properly 🙏🤙. Thanks again.🙏
Please do more of animal styles. Particularly snake and monkey. I do jiu jitsu and Muay Thai and from your videos I’ve seen how I can apply both. Thank you
Really cool stuff! I’d love to know more about how you incorporate sanda/sparring into your overall curriculum. Looking forward to the seminar in March, hopefully I can come in for a class sometime soon!
@johnathangoldblatt2931 always welcome🙏. Hope to see you at the seminar, and then we can talk more about how I incorporate the sanda into my curriculum 🤙🤙🤙
How many animal styles are there in kung fu? And are they imitating animal movements or the way they fight or the fist shapes? How many styles of Chinese martial arts are there?
@GeorgeMoon-p1t so yes to all these questions. And kung fu has many different animal styles, and depending on the instructor and where they come from changes how the style is used. Some styles focus on the power of the animal, some on the fist shape, and some actually utilize the movements and behavior. It's a very layered question with lots of different answers. Great questions and thank you for watching and supporting 🤙🤙🤙🔥
@@AuthenticShaolin which style did you learn and how did you choose the style of kung fu you practice? Because there are dozens of different styles ? I’ve watched wushu on RUclips and I’m impressed how fluid and dynamic their movements are.
@GeorgeMoon-p1t great question. I train Shaolin Temple style kung fu. I have been training for 44 years and still train with my Shi Fus. Finding a style that you like deals with alot of research, finding the right instructor, and knowing exactly what you want out of your training. Modern Wushu is nice but it lacks any real martial fighting ability. The best thing you can do is watch alot of RUclips vids to see what you like.
@@AuthenticShaolin I compete in amateur MMA. My style is a blend of boxing punches and footwork and aggressive defence. 4 wrestling takedowns I practice constantly . Kicks I use from Thai . Roundkicks to damage opponents arms and legs. Teeps to intercept opponents punches. I mix in the dirty boxing with the wrestling takedowns. What draws me to kung fu is that these arts are from a time when it was used in warfare and seeing how violent the world is becoming again and seeing the amount of violence in the uk where I live is worrying. If there’s a style that would benefit me in the cage and for when I need to protect myself or others is what I want to know. Which kung fu would suit me best if there is one ?
@GeorgeMoon-p1t i can't speak for which one is best for you because I don't know your body type. What I can tell you is that I have been training in Northern Shaolin Kung Fu for 44 years. I have also been training the fighting aspect my whole life. I have fought full contact sanda and continuous fighting because my teacher taught me form and function. Unfortunately, not all teachers are created equal, and the majority of kung fu instructors don't fight. I would say if you are doing a sport style type of martial art, then Sanda would be a good style to blend with your skill set. I'm biased, I love my Shaolin kung fu. It is truly one of the styles that saw warfare. I hope I helped a little. Check out my patreon page. https:patreon.com/authenticshaolin

Another good video linking form with function. Your Kung Fu should be alive and not stagnant!
