My favorite Sondheim musical is Sweeney Todd! I was blessed to see Previews 1&2. I think I had the best seat in that packed house, Front Mezz Row A Seat 109 Dead Center! I could see and hear everything perfectly. Annaleigh Ashford's comedic chops are on full display, and Josh Groban's acting and vocal skills are unequaled. Please go see this amazing show. I already have tickets in June and September!
I just saw it. I didn't even smile once. I didn't like this show at all. I wish that I had just stayed home. The only reason why I was there was because my fiancee loves Josh Groban.

My favorite Sondheim musical is “A Little Night Music”. His use of the 6/4 time signature, and all the fun variations he employs, and the counterpoint, especially “Now”, “Later”, and “Soon”, is simply brilliant.
without trying to sound trite and dismissive, I do believe the time signatures in that piece is 3/4, not 6/4 with some pieces in 12/8.
My favorite Stephen Sondheim musical is definitely Sweeney Todd! I love everything about it. It’s just so different and the more you listen to it the more you understand these characters. It is written so beautifully. You both are so awesome and the video was great. Thumbs up 👍🏻
My FAVORITE Stephen Sondheim show is COMPANY!! Everything about this show just makes an all around time in the theater! Especially the Patty Lupone revival!! I loved how they kept the show the same but reimagined the characters! I hope to see it on tour soon! RIP Stephen, we miss you. ❤️❤️🎭❤️😭😭

Thanks so much for this review! I was already excited for the revival but after hearing your takes on it, I'm even moreso! I'm also with Jen - A Little Priest is my favorite song from the show - and as a huge fan of Annaleigh Ashford's comedic stylings, I really can't wait to see what she does with it. Though Sweeney is up there for me, my favorite Sondheim show is Follies. I've seen multiple productions on multiple continents and I still can't get enough of it.
My favorite Stephen Sondheim musical is Sweeney Todd (although Into the Woods also holds a special place in my heart). "A Little Priest" is such a fun number, and "Green Finch" is so lovely. And I think the Beggar Woman is just one of the most heartbreaking characters in the musical theatre canon. I'd love to see this production, although I'm not sure it'll be in my budget. Thanks for this fun and insightful review!

Musical is Sweeney or into the woods. They are both such classic and the songs get stuck in ur head. I was lucky enough to see into the woods on broadway twice and can’t wait to see Sweeney fingers crossed 🤞🏻

My favorite Sondheim musical is Into the Woods. I saw the NYCC production twice and loved it. Love your videos and you Broadway Binge content.
I’ve never been to a first preview, but I have been to shows during the preview period. It’s interesting seeing them working through the kinks. I sat in the second row of Diana the musical and you could hear them rehearsing one of the dance numbers before the show. I’m hoping to see this show. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

My favorite Sondheim musical is "Merrily We Roll Along" - always moving and tuneful throughout. Our Time is my jam.

Sweeney Todd is my favorite Sondheim musical, but haven’t seen Company and might change favorites after seeing that.

So cool that you got to go to the preview! Who can pick a favorite Sondheim show?! I haven’t seen many but my favorite Sondheim musical is Into the Woods -- and West Side Story. That lapel pin was amazing. I’ve never seen Sweeney Todd either - I love being surprised the first time I see a show. LOL I cried out at the end of Hadestown and everyone (except me) knows how that story ends. And I never knew until I saw your review that there was humor in this story, I thought it was all gore, fascinating

Although pretty much every show from Stephen Sondheim is amazing and it is difficult to pick one, if I had to I whould have to say West Side Story. That particular show holds a special place in my heart because that was the first time that I played a big part in a musical, and I hold a solo as well. When I was in it I played snow boy one of the jets. Besides being in the show I enjoy it because of the musical and lyrics that you just can’t get out of your head.
Thank you ladies! I live for this musical and Annaleigh was incredible as was Gaeten. Saw the Sweeney understudy who had a beautiful voice. I bought ticket for my son's Birthday who had to miss it because he was sick (wahhhhhh) (FYI- TodayTix TOTALLY screwed us) But I will be back to take my son xoxo

Just subscribed. I saw Sweeney Todd back in the 70s with Angela Lansbury and Len Cariou. So I'm thinking 💭 who could top them⁉️. After listening to your review, I want to see the revival. This is not only my favorite Sondheim musical but my favorite musical 🎶 of all time--has to be Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Although I'm a bit disappointed to hear there is no factory 🏭 whistle. That was an attention grabber for sure. Oh and thanks for mentioning your seats. I have to admit I was already looking into tickets 🎟, etc., and thought 💭 about Orchestra seats. ❤️✂️

I was also at the premiere and echo both your thoughts. Also saw the show in 1979 with Miss Angela! This show was such a different “feel “ for me although my memories ain’t what they use to be!
I also just saw Into the woods with Sara Bareilles (saw the original also in 1987). BUT I must say that Sunday in the Park with George is my favorite Sondheim masterpiece. Saw THAT show too the year it won the Tony (1984)

My fav Sondheim show would have to be Company. Into the woods is a close second but having recently fallen in love with Company, I couldn’t not say it.
My FAVORITE Stephen Sondheim has to be Into the Woods or WSS. Into the Woods is such a nice musical. It has so many emotions; sadness, happiness, anger, etc. I cried when I saw the movie and love the Broadway SoundTrack. I love WSS because of the love story and the songs are just beautiful!

We're hoping to see this one soon! I know we both really love the Johanna Quartet and would love to see it move. How did Sara feel about the lack of factory whistle? There's grumblings about that.

You hit the nail on the head! We are having SO much fun! Thanks for joining us! We both loved The Jungle. Saw it a few years back and still have it fresh in our minds. Jen recently saw Life of Pi and LOVED it! We both saw Take Me Out and loved that as well. SOOOOO many plays, so little time!

Fun fact in the movie Helena Bonham Carter was pregnant in real life, they had to cover her pregnant belly with a cloth while playing Mrs Lovett in the film ❤️ Her doing all the physical comedy while pregnant too …
She did all the physical comedy while pregnant !!! And delivered her baby after filming ..

I saw Sweeney Todd last week. I thought it was quite good too. I disagree with you about the ensemble. I thought there were too many of them at times and they were distracting.
The rest was excellent.
I sat in the nosebleeds and could barely hear anything in the first act. It was my first time seeing Sweeney Todd and so the story didn’t make much sense. Wouldn’t recommend this revival unless you can get good seats.
It’s still in previews so a lot of the tech kinks are still being worked out. Crew with the show have been sitting and moving places everyday in each show to figure out what needs to be fixed so everyone can hear and see better.
First previews should not be reviewed. If you know it, display some ethics and DON'T DO IT.

I just saw it last night. I walked away from it, feeling like I wasted my time and money. I was miserable the whole time. There wasn't one good song, the dialog was hard to understand, none of the characters were likeable, the climax was meh, and none of the jokes landed for me.
I wish that I just stayed home. 1 1/2 stars out of 5. Pure trash
