In A Mellow Tone (Part 2 of 2)
Ray Brown, #BassClef legendary players, what a great formulation of scales that man has on the just & upright BASS. lininho, thank you kindly, #Cia. the roderunner.
So much to love here !!! My dear friend and mentor, James Moody !!! Clark's all around brilliance, and the slick Star Eyes quote. Sweets' laid back but rock solid time feel, and Straighten Up and Fly right quote. And this is just to name a few in a slew of brilliance and deeply swingin' playing.........
This is the wonderful music and talent that is missing today. These phenomenal musicians were among the very best who ever existed.
This makes you thank the good Lord for your hearing!
Just say "The Lord". When people say "the good Lord", it means that they don't really believe.
This is all about Sweets! he is total ticket....you can watch the cats start to drool and get excited when Sweets does his thing! sooooo funky
The greatest flugelhorn player of all time, right there.
Don’t forget Pete Minger. He can be heard on the On the Road album. “There will be never be another you” with Count Basie’s band. What a cadenza!
Just the first two notes of Clark Terry's solo and I'm already in love with this solo!
He is truly a Genius!
he kept james' idea going with those notes!
Another reason to thank our Lucky Stars for You Tube!!!As time goes on,and these great musicians depart this earth,we all hopefully realize just how fortunate we are to have these clips available, any time we wish to enjoy them!
Clark Terry was a genius of Jazz
Life was so good then.
How could this music just die away, never to return. Another of life’s unexplained mysterys.
I love Clark and Pete Minger ❤
This is why I play!!!!
Sweets hits it every single time. He was the one the only the omega etc. What a heavenly sound.
Damn ! It don't get any better than this ....
Excellent all round, but the standout for me is Ray Brown - very clearly recorded. His lines are superb, and the intonation is spot on. Bass playing doesn't get better than that.

It nothing But a Party when the Greats get together!
Gene Harris...TITAN!
Nice to see a video of this piano giant. Until I saw this, I had only his superb recordings for Blue Note, from 1958 through 1962.
Straordinario eccellenza 2023..
Yes , true. Life was good then COVID free Fun filled joyous days.
Good time s just gone forever.
quelques gros plants -si rares-surce merveilleux aérateur de section rythmique qu'était freddy greene
This is soooooo good. Amazing collection of talent sharing the stage. Thanks for posting.
the fact that Diz adjusted Clark's microphone says the level of respect he had for clark(and im sure vice versa) and that clark was the real deal. Clark's my favorite of all time.
Totally agree. I noticed that, too.
Now there is a stage crowded with stallions!!!
I just love how clark terry starts his solo, taking over moody's idea and then bringing it back when drums and piano come back in (beginning of his 2nd chorus)
The best of the best, all of these artists such a wonderful array of outstanding talent. So sorely missed.
I was going to point that out also. What an ear! What a talent! And the way he would quote while rolling. You have to be paying attention to take it all in.
Something this awesome deserves no dislikes! :D

Shit Folks! This is so dam swinging and cool from all These Cats! But also watch/listen to the steady/crisp comping from the LEGEND Freddy Green on guitar mostly known fm the Basie Band.
Il 'pezzo' è di Duke Ellington_se ricordo bene,no ? Gloria a lui allora anche, oltre ai singoli esecutori!!!
