Thanks for the video. I had the same problem (sliding door didn't close) and tried to change the sensor but it didn't fix it. Then took it to the garage. First garage said the new sensor was faulty as it should have 1200 milli ohms but only had 1198 milli ohms. Second garage changed the door lock and now it works again!
As usual an excellent instructional! I have had this exact issue, albeit a very intermittent failure to close, which is probably also a newly loose connection somewhere in that wiring assembly - on the same side, interestingly. I thoroughly enjoyed this video, particularly as its obviously a family effort. Thanks for pretending to be as ham-fisted as me when it comes to gromits! Magic! And well done, Allister!

Had to look up for meaning of "ham-fisted" - new expression for my vocabulary :) Oh no - it wasn't pretending, lots of extra hassle was left behind the scene, same as my other videos (for example - changing and filming clutch took 4 days (colour of my T-shirt changed 4 times during a video)). On my 2012 sharan everything works except the soft close bit where it pulls the door in...I have to manually push the door to close it completely. Do you know what is wrong with it? Thanks

My fault is the final close doesn’t work, and simultaneously the internal buttons to open and close don’t work but the outside door handle does, and also simultaneously the kiddie lock is stuck on, can’t turn it off. Ever had that? Any idea what the problem is, I only found one other person describing the same fault but no solutions? Cheers
very detailed, i've got a problem with my 2011 Sel model. seems to have damp footwell on left of vehicle including the left 2nd row and left of the boot. not sure as what it is. had windscreen changed as well as wipers and all plastics to make sure no blockage. also trays underneath vehicle and doesn't to have any blockage. finally i've tried to check the rear roof pipes and again no issues, would really appreciate if you have come across this or know how to fix ????
I had this problem with my 2005 Audi A6 and made a video about it. Problem with A6 - blocked drainages at the front at the bottom of windscreen. Water was getting through the front and was flooding floor. I don't have this problem with my Sharan, and I have done over 340K miles by now. If you are saying that all drainages are clean.. I don't know what to suggest, sorry.

Yeah, that's very common, but it's quite hard to tell where exactly is the problem. When this electric door closes, if something didn't go perfect, button starts flashing or glowing. If it shows on your dash, then, in my experience, those mechanisms that pull door in at the back didn't work and rear of the door stays open..
Hi dude, thanks for the informational video on dealing with the sliding door. Here I met a problem with my Sharan 2016 sliding door, may I ask for your thought about it? A few days ago, one of my friend, without knowing it'a an auto door, try to open the rear right by force, he tried 3~4 times until I told him to stop. At first, the door button kept flashing with the door open/close normally, and even the door is closed, the final "soft close" has gone, and button was still flashing. Then after a few tries (open and close), the button works like before (no more flashing), but the doot (rear right) still has no "soft close" after a "seems ok closing". so, pls, what's your professional suggestion about it? I've tried the "resetting" with rear right window button holding up for 3 seconds, but the "soft close" happens only occe/twice in ten tests.
I had occasional trouble with soft close, but it didn’t become a real problem, so I don’t have any experience with that bit. Sorry. I don’t have that car anymore…Try some forums to facebook groups,maybe?

Thanks for the video. I have this problem with my Sharan. How can I test to see if it is the pinch protection sensor? There doesn't appear to be any damage. It started having problems closing and over time this has got worse, it seldom closes on its own now.
On my car it didn't look like I have obvious damage. I've found someone with VCDS (VAG-COM) to scan it and it came up with this: 58115 - Pinch Protection Sensor B1158 13 [137] - Open Circuit MIL ON - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Status: 00000001 Fault Priority: 4 Fault Frequency: 254 Reset counter: 249 Mileage: 274424 km Date: 2017.03.14 Time: 18:10:53 So if there's an error with it - car will know it.
I have a seat alhambra 66reg. For some reason people don't see the 'Automatic Doors stickers and keep pulling the door. The motor was damaged and replaced. My question is, do you know ow how to disable the electric door so they can be used manually
Nobody reads those signs on my doors either... I don't have experience with converting from automatic to manual. I would expect those cables that pull the door disconnected/removed. Then you have that pulling-in "soft close" mechanism, but that probably can stay, like on posh cars.

I moved the thread up there where it was caught on the track and tried to go from time to time. I have to break out to see what does not do well. do you have an idea on top of the door where it comes on? is a contactor something?

I have 2011 Alhambra and i had a bed luck one of my friend took a handle from the inside of a car and pull it the opposite way and now i cannot open door from inside. Like wire is loose beacuse this model of car has manual door. I can open from outside but from inside i can see that wire doesnt click at the end of the door. Can you help please.

Great video. I have another problem, the left door was fully opened and by mistake pushed towards the stop buffer. The other door when opening it, "soft" stops about 2 cm before reaching the end buffer which seems to be the normal operation. Now when opening the door, the door smashes into the end buffer and when closing it stops around 10-15 cm before the closed position and I have to push the door to close it. Do you think this is some kind of calibration issue that can be easily fixed?
As far as I know these doors suppose to self calibrate, similar to electric windows. If opening and closing doesn't help, give them some time. Few times after disconnecting battery I had problem with doors, because "they" forgot open-closed endpoints and stopped working at all. I was driving around like a day or 2 then eventually it came back to normal. If that doesn't help, probably there is a way to calibrate it with software, but I don't it yet. Try to give it some time, hopefully it will "remember".
@@wawayltd You´re right. I tried maybe 30 times open/closing the door with different combinations of the engine running, ignition on/off but nothing worked. So I tried again today and suddenly everything worked like magic.

Could be faulty blower motor? This car (Sharan 7N) has 2 blowers. Because there are 3 climate zones - 1 motor is located behind glovebox (air for front seats) and another is under the trim by 3rd row right seat. Looking how to solve the problem with that electric door, I have stripped down to the door motor and and discovered second blower there. I'm afraid I can't help you much, because currently don't have time (have to work a lot to be able to travel to see my parents next month). I have about 7 videos that are nearly ready (not related to your problem unfortunately), so I'll put them out. At some point in the far future, I'll cover that as well. Meanwhile, I can recommend good workshop manual for VAGs - have a look on eBay for "Elsawin", very useful, worth to have it if you have VAG car and like to DIY.

HELP Thanks for all the videos. 30% of the time my electric door do not open fully and stop half way for no good reasons. I checked all the mechanics and it's cleaned and there seems to be no mechanical reasons. No errors on the dash and no ECU defaults. I can open the door in a slope with more weight for the motor and it works just as good (or as bad depending on how we see things) No issues for closing the door. Any idea where this could be coming from ? Thanks
Sorry Julien, not sure how to help you there. My car also sometimes opens half way, then makes that beeping sound as it was going to close and stops. I press button again and it opens fully. Maybe there is some resistance that not visually noticeable? Or door needs to "learn" open and close stop points
I've been having this issue with my 2015 Alhambra for about 18 Months. Seat have now said that its a faulty door motor and I've no choice but to pay £800 to have the motor replaced!!!
Never done it before, my car already has sensors and there is a plug for them under the bumper (I have a video about rear bumper). I suppose that cars without sensors might not have that plug. I can't find info where exactly to connect them to reverse light, so it doesn't mess up resistance and cars computer doesn't think that bulb is faulty. Maybe ask people who sold you those sensors?

Great video I have the same car 2017 plate. My adblue meter is stuck on 4000 miles recently but I'm sure it was supposed to go down. Does anyone know why it's happening?
Never had this problem.. but I must say that AdBlue consumption is quite slow - my car drinks 10 litres in about 4000 miles. Maybe wait a little bit and see how it goes?

I had that at some point as well. I don't know, probably sometimes it needs to re-learn its end points. It should become normal at some point, if it doesn't then I don't know, sorry.
Great Video 😁 ! Have just bought a 2016 Seat Alhambra but I am guessing that a lot of the procedures you do on your VW will be same on the Seat. Occasionally if the car is at a slight angle, ie the car is not completely level : the electric doors will stop halfway : could it be that the door prefers a level surface ?
My drivers side sliding door had the electric motor changed, since then when I close the door, just as its going to close it opens again, does the door need to be realigned (i think the door was moved to get access to a bolt to take the motor out). Or do I need a new sensor
Those doors drive me nuts. In winter after negative temperature even it is -1 it starts to act weirdly. Both sides most of the time cant close, it goes to an end and then it opens again, i need to use manual force to close and hold the doors and then drive for a couple of km for them to lock into position. And I can't get an answrr from the internet. Official service couldnt help much, they replaces one lock mechanism as they claimed it was faulty. But weird act on negative outside temperature just continues. A tip for new buyers, buy manual sliding doors it will be much cheaper and you wont have any problems with automatic mechanism. Not to mention that you need to lubricate rubber parta with silicone very carefuly or it will freeze and you wont be able to open them at all.
Hi, I have an equal car and I have a problem with a door. Could you tell me what you think it is? the left rear door when I give it to close it closes but it doesn't close at all, the back of the door stays outside, so it doesn't suck it inside like the other door. Please help me.
It happens to my car sometimes, but when I restart the engine and try to open-close few times, it goes back to normal. If problem stays permanently - I don't know yet what to do, sorry.

@@wawayltd I have the same car and Taxi driver too, when the door closed its make a sound of the sucked in (like full close) it doesn't do that sound and its shows its not close properly on dashbord display, same time chile lock button on driver door they are also not working. on your video, 24:55-56 you can hear the sound of locking (I dont have that any more) on your video 25:37-38 same sound (the door sucks in) I dont have that
I understand now what you mean. There's a mechanism that pulls door in as it closes. I had a glitch like that few times, but when I stop and re-start the car, it starts working again. Unfortunately that is the only experience I have with that mechanism. Don't know how to help you, sorry. Have a look in Internet, I believe it's called "soft close", also maybe door lock problem, maybe it's part of the same thing.. Sorry I'm not very helpful.

@@ardian2010 Don't know.. If it's motor - why does it open the other way? I see it like something preventing it from closing. Did you say after sensor replacement it worked few times? Maybe there's still problem with sensor or around it?
Anything is possible, but I would recommend to use help of specialists - apart from installing motors for both sides, you will also need pulling mechanisms - that pull doors in when they are closed. Then installing all buttons, door handles may be special - they act as a buttons + all the re-programming that needs to be done. I couldn't do it myself.
Hi my automatic door button light is flashing and when door button doesn't work. If its open it stays open and if its closed its stays closed. Door opening light flashes like hazzard light.
Hi. Basically your door is not working and button is flashing? Unfortunately, I don't know what exactly is wrong, very sorry.. Maybe motor, maybe wiring, maybe some sensor. Perhaps would be good idea to scan it with VCDS.

Hello and great video. i have an issue with my seat alhambra electric door that somethimes the door wont close proparly. it close but somethimes it dont go all the whey in where the vacuum start close it all the way in. how can i fix that ?
I also started getting this problem. As temporary solution - when I restart my car it helps the problem. However, I don't know yet how to fix it properly. When it gets more serious I'll have to find out.

It was almost impossible to find used sensor.. I've found somewhere on Internet in Germany, but I couldn't get hold of them. This models are still pretty new, not many of them have electric doors, so there is almost no chance to find one on scrapyard and with electric doors.

Probably this could be solution, door still reacts if there some resistance, but it would be less protection for some possible little fingers.. Before I got new sensor - I tried to disconnect it to see if it helps.. and it didn't, so it has to be jumped. If you only looking to buy Sharan - I don't think you'll have any problems with electric doors. Look - I'm a taxi driver, every day I get lots of people through my car, people that don't realise that doors are electric and how to use them, they force, they pull all rubbers and even now after 200.000 miles doors work with no drama. If are buying it for your family that will know how to use the doors and will treat it as a family car - it's very unlikely that you will have a problem with those doors.

Probably something to do with child locks because they deactivate the door from inside.

Could be faulty blower motor? This car (Sharan 7N) has 2 blowers. Because there are 3 climate zones - 1 motor is located behind glovebox (air for front seats) and another is under the trim by 3rd row right seat. Looking how to solve the problem with that electric door, I have stripped down to the door motor and and discovered second blower there. I'm afraid I can't help you much, because currently don't have time (have to work a lot to be able to travel to see my parents next month). I have about 7 videos that are nearly ready (not related to your problem unfortunately), so I'll put them out. At some point in the far future, I'll cover that as well. Meanwhile, I can recommend good workshop manual for VAGs - have a look on eBay for "Elsawin", very useful, worth to have it if you have VAG car and like to DIY.

30% of the time my electric door do not open fully and stop half way for no good reasons. I checked all the mechanics and it's cleaned and there seems to be no mechanical reasons. No errors on the dash and no ECU defaults. I can open the door in a slope with more weight for the motor and it works just as good (or as bad depending on how we see things)
No issues for closing the door.
Any idea where this could be coming from ?

Sorry Julien, not sure how to help you there. My car also sometimes opens half way, then makes that beeping sound as it was going to close and stops. I press button again and it opens fully.
Maybe there is some resistance that not visually noticeable? Or door needs to "learn" open and close stop points
I've been having this issue with my 2015 Alhambra for about 18 Months. Seat have now said that its a faulty door motor and I've no choice but to pay £800 to have the motor replaced!!!

Never done it before, my car already has sensors and there is a plug for them under the bumper (I have a video about rear bumper). I suppose that cars without sensors might not have that plug. I can't find info where exactly to connect them to reverse light, so it doesn't mess up resistance and cars computer doesn't think that bulb is faulty. Maybe ask people who sold you those sensors?

You are probably talking about those mechanisms that pull back of the door in when it's closed. Sorry, I don't have any experience with those..

Sorry, no idea. It needs to be seen. If you have a scanner, you can try to see what it says.
Turned out to be low voltage going through and dodgy sliding door fuse.

Never had this problem.. but I must say that AdBlue consumption is quite slow - my car drinks 10 litres in about 4000 miles. Maybe wait a little bit and see how it goes?

I had that at some point as well. I don't know, probably sometimes it needs to re-learn its end points. It should become normal at some point, if it doesn't then I don't know, sorry.

Occasionally if the car is at a slight angle, ie the car is not completely level : the electric doors will stop halfway : could it be that the door prefers a level surface ?

My drivers side sliding door had the electric motor changed, since then when I close the door, just as its going to close it opens again, does the door need to be realigned (i think the door was moved to get access to a bolt to take the motor out). Or do I need a new sensor

Those doors drive me nuts. In winter after negative temperature even it is -1 it starts to act weirdly. Both sides most of the time cant close, it goes to an end and then it opens again, i need to use manual force to close and hold the doors and then drive for a couple of km for them to lock into position. And I can't get an answrr from the internet. Official service couldnt help much, they replaces one lock mechanism as they claimed it was faulty. But weird act on negative outside temperature just continues. A tip for new buyers, buy manual sliding doors it will be much cheaper and you wont have any problems with automatic mechanism. Not to mention that you need to lubricate rubber parta with silicone very carefuly or it will freeze and you wont be able to open them at all.

Hi, I have an equal car and I have a problem with a door. Could you tell me what you think it is? the left rear door when I give it to close it closes but it doesn't close at all, the back of the door stays outside, so it doesn't suck it inside like the other door. Please help me.
It happens to my car sometimes, but when I restart the engine and try to open-close few times, it goes back to normal. If problem stays permanently - I don't know yet what to do, sorry.

Te explico: me ha desmontado el interior de la puerta y ha sacado todo el mecanismo, ha limpiado bien todo, ha engrasado y ha vuelto a montar y funciona perfectamente, esta como nuevo. Dice que se quedaba atascada por culpa de la suciedad (polvo) y con la grasa vieja se hacía como un cicle. Saludos

@@wawayltd I have the same car and Taxi driver too, when the door closed its make a sound of the sucked in (like full close) it doesn't do that sound and its shows its not close properly on dashbord display, same time chile lock button on driver door they are also not working. on your video, 24:55-56 you can hear the sound of locking (I dont have that any more) on your video 25:37-38 same sound (the door sucks in) I dont have that
I understand now what you mean. There's a mechanism that pulls door in as it closes. I had a glitch like that few times, but when I stop and re-start the car, it starts working again. Unfortunately that is the only experience I have with that mechanism. Don't know how to help you, sorry. Have a look in Internet, I believe it's called "soft close", also maybe door lock problem, maybe it's part of the same thing.. Sorry I'm not very helpful.

WheelsAndMotors yes it does open, after Swaping the new sensor it opend about 5 to 6 times then it stoped closing again.
@@ardian2010 Sorry Ardian, don't know what to suggest. Maybe bad connection somewhere, or new sensor is faulty... or maybe software issue.
Probably would be good idea to scan it with VCDS - maybe it will come up with something.

Yes it is. Fitting something that wasn't included in options originally called "retrofitting".. But I don't know how much it costs.

Anything is possible, but I would recommend to use help of specialists - apart from installing motors for both sides, you will also need pulling mechanisms - that pull doors in when they are closed. Then installing all buttons, door handles may be special - they act as a buttons + all the re-programming that needs to be done. I couldn't do it myself.

I also started getting this problem. As temporary solution - when I restart my car it helps the problem. However, I don't know yet how to fix it properly. When it gets more serious I'll have to find out.

It was almost impossible to find used sensor.. I've found somewhere on Internet in Germany, but I couldn't get hold of them. This models are still pretty new, not many of them have electric doors, so there is almost no chance to find one on scrapyard and with electric doors.

Probably this could be solution, door still reacts if there some resistance, but it would be less protection for some possible little fingers.. Before I got new sensor - I tried to disconnect it to see if it helps.. and it didn't, so it has to be jumped.
If you only looking to buy Sharan - I don't think you'll have any problems with electric doors. Look - I'm a taxi driver, every day I get lots of people through my car, people that don't realise that doors are electric and how to use them, they force, they pull all rubbers and even now after 200.000 miles doors work with no drama. If are buying it for your family that will know how to use the doors and will treat it as a family car - it's very unlikely that you will have a problem with those doors.
