      I think it depends on what media your reading. I hear him mentioned quite a bit from interviews and other contributors speaking highly of his writing. He has respect, not as much as we need to see but he holds it down.

    Robert Townsend is Black Hollywood Royalty right before your eyes people! You could see the inception of In Living Color when you look back at Robert's HBO comedy specials in the late 80's early 90's!! Its not about if his movie's bombed or not. His desire, passion and life long goal was to help balance out the images of black people in film because all you saw for years were stereotypical interpretations !! Robert is Hip Hop because his style is original, creative, and his focus is on building from nothing without regret!! They need to give this man his props now!!! He is a legend!

    • @akimsmyer5254
      @akimsmyer5254 5 лет назад +2

      @ghostrecon755 that's why his legacy is burried. Imagine how many he influenced in the 90's! Hollywood can't have that. This is why we must be vigilant in keeping and telling our stories before our history is lost and or rewritten. TBC is doing a huge disservice to the culture when they fail to do research on guest they may not be all the way up on. They have a responsibility that comes with the platform - the station has nothing vested in our culture so it's allowed. Thankfully Sway does his homework.

    "The Parenthood" one of the greatest black sitcoms of all time. Unlike now, the 90s had a balance of shows from the wild and crazy Martin, Wayans Bros, to the Family Matters and Moesha's while Parenthood always stood out as a more contemporary approach to black family's in the 90s. Robert Townes wanted to be that Cliff Huxtable of the 90s.

      Nick Lee, you are right, there was a bunch of good black cast shows on tv. Remember Malcolm & Eddie, Hangin' With Mr. Cooper, The Hughleys, LL Cool J's In the House, Livin Single, the list goes on. Now you got scripted reality shows that do nothing but make us look stupid as hell.
