  • An actual Tape Echo that fits on your pedalboard? Yep
Tap tempo and two playback heads? Yes again
Glorious analogue character and tape modulation.... Oh hell yes!

    First setting is my favorite
I’d call it an ideal delay tone
Tons of character, just the right amount of warble. Super tasty.

an echo tape with tap tempo and small enough to put in the pedalboard is a real cool stuff....i've 2 vintage echo tape units and never can take with me in live

Just need to put the tube back in it like they used to (room mate 1 & 2) so I can tube swap a tape machine.
12au7 RCA grey plates sound fantastic in my RM1.

Sounds great. It would have been nice to have 2 in out stereo support with a line level switch... then you could use it for keyboards or send audio to it (I do this with eventide gear). Still great for guitar.

And would only cost some extra 500 bucks

How many plays do you get out of this before you need to replace the tape cartridge?

    I just bought one. Yew!

Nice demo! Your repeats seem more dirty than other demos- do you have the saturation high?

Really tasty playing. Thanks. Given that I'm old enough to remember cassette and reel to reel, the tapes will have to be replaced and heads cleaned to maintain quality.

Yeah a bit of maintenance will be needed but well worth it for that sound

@@ilovenoise agreed. Digital reproduction will never get that same slight degradation and analog feel. There is nothing cold about tape recordings. They breathe a little like tube amps.

@@ilovenoise not really a pedal guy at all, but you make me want this. I'm just usually guitar into a 15 watter. Have a Randall at the moment. Can sound like a row of Marshall's without having the cops arrive.

As it is now, this unit is somewhat useless as a live performance device, as the user must knee down to access the Long/Short delay heads. T-Rex needs to convert the Tap Tempo foot switch to Long/Short head select and implement a 1/4" input for an external Tap Tempo foot switch.

"Beautiful random pitch modulation which you just can't put on an algorithm"
This is an false claim. You can simulate anything with computers also tape wear, wow, flutter, saturation, tape azimuth, random fluctuations etc...
The difference between a hardware machine and a good sim is not in the sound but in the experience. Of course a hardware tape delay is cool, but please just stop claiming that "this can't be simulated by an algorithm" because physicists simulate everything with computers everyday...simulating a tape is nothing exotic.
